Visited Safehaven marine a few years ago, and despite not buying one of his boats, Frank still took me and wife for a bite to eat and a Guiness. A real gentleman, desrves all of his undoubted success !
Pilot boats are amazing, and very cool. Especially if you want to go out in any "type of weather" boat, with top side being the business and of this boat. Down below, the head, needs places to grab onto, all in all the boat looks like tremendous amount of... fun.
It very much depends on the port - My grandfather was a pilot in a mid-sized industrial harbor in Europe, mostly catering to container ships and oil drilling platforms - They never needed more than 2-3 pilots onboard the pilot boat at a time (not including the one that had to stay with the pilot boat), and thus had a pilot boat sized accordingly with a small handful of seats, and a nice rest area with a TV. A boat with room for this many pilots would pretty much only be necessary if you have to pilot for long distance, and have a lot of heavy traffic (e.g. Tampa harbor, where a pilot will have to stay onboard for up to ~60 km before passing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge), whereas places with either shorter distances (such as Hong Kong) or less traffic (smaller industrial ports) would be better suited with a larger number of smaller pilot boats.
That would be a great idea! When i spoke with Frank, he mentioned that people had approached him in the past, asking about building a 'pilot boat' for private use, but nothing ever came of it.
Would be interesting to see a Safehaven Marine collaboration with the RNLI to design the next generation of lifeboats, possibly even a catamaran??.......🤔
Wow, what an awesome boat and awesome vid! I'd love to see more working boat tours. Probably a dumb question, but why does the boat have generators? Do then engines not just have giant alternators to provide electricity?
Keep in mind these boats have specs that are customised for each customer, where they are operated and how they are used. A generator may be used for many reasons. They operate from berths that sometimes don’t have shore power or spend time anchored waiting for multiple ships as they can carry more than one pilot. In those situations running the main engines causes excess hours on the main engines. She will also have cooking facilities, air conditioning and refrigeration that will need to be operated while waiting. She may even have a rotation of crew that live on board. Keep in mind the around Dubai there are 10 ports in close proximity and she may be called to work in any of them if required.
as mentioned above, they count the amount of hours the main engines are running. So if youre waiting for a big ship you turn the main engines off and basically float there, you then turn the generators on cause it might be cold, wet, you want the radios working, the heating on, the radar maybe, powerful lights. It would be a huge expense to run the main engine for that. There is also the redundancy factor, if your engine fails you can still radio for help. Or if your power fails you can still get back to harbour. All things added up, no reason to not have it this way, even if more expensive.
Question; is theese wessels self-creating as well, or do I remember wrong? I imagine in my bad memory that the ,was it named Barracuda? or/and another version. A video some years back I belive was that capable from Safehaven. I`ve seen so many videos since, I might remember wrong? Excuse if my English is not correct, regards a Norwegian
It's critical that you can see the ladder from the ship the pilot has to climb aboard, to match the speed and position - thus the need for side front window wipers :)
Well I live in the United States of America and I have 5 years to go until I can purchase a boat or Yacht so maybe you can find out approximately how much is the T 2000???.
Thanks for the viewing. Small tip: As a captain, I might have wished for better ventilation so the windows are moisture-free and windshield wipers on the side windows. All in all, it seems to be a very nice and well-built boat.👍👍👍Three thumbs up for that boat.
Have you ever been to Ireland/UK? if not it can be hard to explain how the windows will fog up in moments if you turn the ventilation off, and then vanish in moments when you turn it on. On rainy days in Ireland you will actually see the condensation coming off joggers or sports people due to the humidity levels. Its pretty common to let the windows fog up until youre ready to move instead of wasting fuel on buses, cars, boats, whatever.
He said ship 7 yrs old. Have to standup turn wheel to move flood light in rough weather when you can’t stand! Should be electric helmet to control floods on both sides and aft, wireless 😂. What else is back with 3rd world 😅
Really like your channel but could you please work on your camera work? It always pointed upwards and your are mostly far too close to the objects. For example if you want to show a bathroom don‘t go into the bathroom but rather only hold the camera at the threshold. The boats you are filming are the most interesting ones so it is sometimes annoying not to get the full impression.

He is a great guy and has a fantastic team
John, I would definitely want to see a sea trial. Pilot boats has always fascinated me as well since I was 12 years old and went on my first cruise.
These videos are 100 times better than their in house productions. They should be thanking you, and retaining you to do all their videos.

Yes. Because that's exactly the sort of boat they'd need for those notoriously fierce winter storms in the southern Persian gulf.
Beautiful !
Very nice Brilliant boat 👍👍👍👍
Definitely do the sea trial video. Cheers mate.
The name Murshid means Guide. And what a great Guide this is .Safe haven ❤
Thanks for the share.
Thanks for watching 🫡
it would be good to see you out on a sea trial
OMG my dream boat
I didn’t realize that they transported that many pilots in one boat. I always thought they did it one at a time

This is a great boat! I wonder if Safehaven would go the Life Proof Boats route and make a yacht out of it.

I doubt it, as the establishment simply doesn't want to admit they are better than any south England yard's. 😊

Thanks! I appreciate it and will def try and get on more boats like this
Looking forward to a sea trial! Are these boats self righting?
Yep, this one is :-)
range at various speeds ? Smaller CATs to trade off top speed for more range ? Increase range by more fuel tanks ? Water maker ?
I want to go with ya! would be a blast
100% :-)

Yes, you are right 🫡 This pilot boat is self-righting 🙌

no seatbelts on these?
She was in the final stages of being fitted out

The vents weren’t powered up as the boat was only being moved a few yards 🫡 The sea trial took place on a different date 🙌
@@YachtBuoy looked like a few people were going in and out on a chilli day too! like getting in a cold car in the winter before its warmed up
whats the tin foil for on the engine hose ends?
what i can see is that boat needs to solve condensation on windows !
Ventilation had been powered off.

2500l fuel won't go very far?
These Pilot Boats rarely go more than 5nm off shore so they are always close to their respective fuelling stations.

67 feet with 5 mercury's 600s??? no more than 30 knots... 56 HCB have 5 mercury's... and 65 HCB 6 mercury's 600s

As always no price given😖
This boat isn't for sale and is a custom build.
Jets engines are not good
