Ive been tuning in to this channel since 2013 and followed this bugs developments. I think you guys are super generous 👏👏👏 congratulations
Thank you for watching and being a subscriber. We appreciate you.
I noticed you were shifting gears, does EV motor feel same as gas motor when you shift? Beautiful car and conversion.
Not sure what you mean by "feel the same". The electric motor has a lot more torque so you would typically shift at a lower RPM than you would with a gas engine. The electric motor is quiet so all you hear is the transaxle. We don't use first gear, we take off in second gear. The reason for shifting gears is for efficiency and fun. Don't know if you noticed, but the car accelerates faster than the GPS on the dash cam can keep up with, and that was not driving aggressively. The power through the gears is different as the electric motor develops horsepower at a lower RPM due to the maximum torque at zero RPM. Maximum torque and horsepower of the motor in this vehicle is at 4,800 RPM. Thank you for watching.
@@ev4u You answered my question, my understanding was that people kept electric conversions in one gear, so I learned something, shifting gears can be fun with electrics also. An electric Kharman Ghia is a VW car I wish I could afford. Respect to you.
That's a nice looking car, color and all. The old bugs are neat looking and I really don't care about the year as long as they look like the old ones. It's street legal without the bumpers? I would like to convert my truck if I can make it do what I want it to do.
The Bug has been driven since 2008 without bumpers, and without issue. I'm sure if I were to get pulled over it would be to talk about the car and not the lack of bumpers. Thanks for watching.
I gather this amazing ride has no hvac of any kind for the occupants ?
You are correct, thank you for watching.
Screaming deal, is there room to relocate and restore a backseat? Would love something the family could cruise in
Yes, you could simply locate the battery pack where we normally place it in customer's cars. Check out one of our many videos featuring a Beetle. Thanks for watching.
