This was their highest charting song, hit #33 in 1989. "Never Enough" and "I Wanna be you Man" are two good rockers by these guys. Traci Guns the lead guitar player was in Guns n Roses and when he left, Slash replaced him. The singer Phil Lewis was in a group called Girl in the early 80s with Phil Collen from Def Leppard.
LA Guns is in there own genre of music known as”sleaze rock”. Some of there well known songs are “Never Enough”, “One More Reason”, “Sex Action”, “Rip and Tear”, “It’s Over Now” and my favorite “Electric Gypsy”
I don’t know what you mean by their own genre. Best sleaze rock bands are Motley Crue, G&R, Faster Pussycat, Love/Hate, Ratt, Cinderella, Skid Row, and of course LA Guns.
Check out "Electric Gypsy", by L.A. Guns, too. It's on a couple of my riding playlists. *Jordan, you'll be wanting a bike, after hearing it, and seeing the music video.*
My favorite LA Guns songs are "Over The Edge" and "Never Enough". I met Phil Lewis (lead singer) as we were both disembarking the KISS Kruise last October. It was fun chatting with him, he was very nice. Phil, Tracii Guns & the rest of the band sounded great.
The song to Jayne Mansfield. A Hollywood star on the rise along Marilon Monroe. She lost her life in a horrific car crash in 1967 she was married to Mickey Hargitay an LA businessman and their daughter Mariska Hargitay survived the accident and Mariska Hargitay grew up and went on in life as the star and Emmy winning actress on Law & Order SVU Detective Olivia Benson.
Yeah but the notion that this song was about that actress has already been debunked. Phil said the song was based on a girl who killed her self in his high school in a town in texas were he grew up. He said he had convinced her to not kill her self days before at a party so it really affected him and stayed with him after all these years
I had not heard of this group, thank you. Have you ever noticed the red and white "bumper" on trucks and semi trailers? They were not on any vehicles when I was a child. They became known as "Mansfield bars" because her death was a catalyst in the legislation requiring them. Her car, a convertable, slid under the back end of a truck and she was killed. The children survived because they were laying down in the rear seat. Her wig flew out of the car and false reports of her decapitation were spread.
House of Pain by Faster Pussycat. Just thought of that classic, if they haven't done it they definitely should. A tear jerker, and a rare very real song from that genre.
I have seen L.A. Guns several times in concert. Tracii Guns can really shred! I met them once too and they were great guys. This song was supposedly written about Jane Mansfield, an actress compared to Marilyn Monroe who died in a car accident. Another great ballad by these guys is It's Over Now. Some great rockin' songs are Electric Gypsy, No Mercy, Never Enough, Some Lie 4 Love and Sleazy Come Easy Go. Phil Lewis, the lead singer was in a band in the early 80's called Girl with Phil Collen before he joined Def Leppard.
I seen L.A Gun's back in 1988 in Fort Wayne Indiana when they opened up for AC/DC. It was 1 of the best concerts I been to and I been to hundreds of concerts in my life
In 1984, the band "Hollywood Rose" member Izzy Stradlin was living with "L.A. Guns" member Tracii Guns. When "L.A. Guns" needed a new vocalist, Stradlin suggested "Hollywood Rose" singer Axl Rose. This led to "Guns N' Roses" being formed in March 1985 by Rose, rhythm guitarist Stradlin, along with "L.A. Guns" founders lead guitarist Guns, drummer Rob Gardner and bassist Ole Beich. The band coined its name by combining the names of both previous groups; initially it was the name of a label they were going to release music on. After the band's first two rehearsals, Beich was fired and replaced by Duff McKagan. The first rehearsal with McKagan was recorded and three songs from it ("Don't Cry", "Think About You" and "Anything Goes") were played during the band's first radio interview, aired two days before their first ever show at the Troubadour on March 26, 1985. Around this time, the band planned to release an EP with the three aforementioned songs and a cover of "Heartbreak Hotel". However, Guns left the band after an argument with Rose, and plans for the release fell through. Guns was replaced by a former "Hollywood Rose" member, Slash. Gardner, the last remaining "L.A. Guns" member to remain in the band, quit soon after. Steven Adler, another former "Hollywood Rose" member, filled Gardner's spot.
There guitarist Tracii Guns was in a band with Axl Rose. Also the singer Phil Lewis was in a band with Phil Collen "Girl", when Phil Colleen left to join Def Leppard. Phil Lewis came to LA and met Tracci
I love it when you do 80's hair metal. Wish you did more! Great White - Mista Bone White Lion - Little Fighter Dokken - Into The Fire Zebra - Whos Behind The Door
I used to play LA Guns for my kids as they were going to bed. They're some smooth sounding rock. You'll like Crystal Eyes, and Over The Edge. They were favorites for my kids when they were little rockers. They have long since graduated to Ozzy and Slipknot.
Note Guns and Rose's was a band formed by Axl Rose and Traci Guns. They fought over the direction of the band and split. Axl Rose kept Guns n Rose's. Traci went on to form LA Guns.
Great song written for his GF that passed away. You should check out the Lesser known hairband Wildeside either Just another night or Kiss this Love Goodbye 2 Great Ballads.
Jay and Amber....meet lead singer Philip Lewis. One of the great and underrated voices from the era! LA Guns had limited national success, but we're more well known (and revered by some) in the SoCal rock scene during the 80's and early 90's. Some bangers you might try are Never Enough (first choice), Rip and Tear, Kiss My Love Goodbye, Over the Edge, and more
"Hollywood tease" off their 1988 debut is an interesting song for several reasons. Firstly because it's a tough, catchy tune in itself, but also because it's a case of singer Phil Lewis doing a cover version of himself. Phil, who is British, did the original version back in 1980 with his then band Girl, one of few glam bands in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. That band coincidentally also featured guitarist Phil Collen, who since 1982 is a member of the mighty Def Leppard.
Jay and Amber another band you may like is Faster Pussycat and their song Your So Vain which is a cover of Carly Simons song. They used to play at a bar in my town before they released this song
Great reaction as always! It's so much fun watching the two of you learn of the amazing music that I grew up with. L.A. Guns has some great 80's rocking tunes, and just as great ballads. "Crystal Eyes" is a song that was special between myself and an ex-girlfriend back when it was first released.
Jay, Amber....you have to listen to an 80s band called KIX! Don't close your eyes, blow my fuse and cold blood!!! I'm telling ya, you're gonna love it.
L.A. Guns is a fantastic band out of, you guessed it...L.A. Formed by guitarist Traci Guns in a band called Hollywood Rose, which would eventually spin off to form two bands - L.A Guns and Guns & Roses. This is not the first song you should hear because it is a ballad and while it is a fantastic one, we all know how much you like the harder rocking stuff. I would recommend "Rip & Tear" and "Never Enough" from this point.
LA Guns are one of my all time favorite bands, they should have been alot bigger than they were. They are still recording and have a new album coming out next month. Phil Lewis still sings as good as he ever did and Traci still shreds on the guitar. They also have added Ace von Johnson to the band and he is an amazing guitarist
LA GUNS is such an awesome band! Traci GUNS was an original member of GUNS N ROSES. The song was about Joyne Mansfield. One of the first "sex symbols " in American culture. She made a big impression on a lot of young guys back in the day. I LOVE THIS BAND! This whole album is 🔥! She died in a car crash.
Traci doesn't get the credit deserved. Thanks for noting the history. As to Jayne, words can not do her justice. Search out her photos and you will see.
The lead singer of LA Guns is Phil Lewis and he was in a British band called Girl in the late 70s. You should check out their album Sheer Greed, which came out in 1980, it's on UA-cam, also some live performances of theirs are on UA-cam, like on The Old Grey Whistle Test show. Lots of good songs in that album, but my favourites are Hollywood Tease, Strawberries and My Number. It's not just the music, but the lyrics are pretty great imo.
In the 80s it was Phil Lewis, Tracii Guns, Steve Riley, Mick Cripps and Kelly Nickels. Tracii and Steve both owned 50% rights. There have been 2 versions of this band touring for about 15 years now. So one version had Phil and Steve, the other had Tracii. Currently Phil and Tracii are touring and Steve's has a version with Kelly Nickels. 🤷♀🤣
Summer of 89' and 90', outdoor gym, llifting weights for H.S. Football at 7 AM. This song and Skid Row "18 and Life", "I Remember You" playing on Pirate Radio 100.3. So much great music back then.
I sat next to a guy on a flight from Manchester UK to JFK in October 2016. He was really cool, probably in his mid 50s and said he was a past member of LA Guns. I'd never heard them. Said he'd been forced out of the UK by the immigration authorities for overstaying, hence him being on that flight!
One of my favorites! Every "hair band" had to make a power ballad for the ladies, but they were all killer!! A band that came along a bit later was Saigon Kick. They had an amazing song, absolutely my favorite power ballad of all time "Love Is On The Way" Check it out please! Has some great harmonizing vocals that kinda gives me Dust In The Wind vibes from Kansas. And I know y'all loved that one!
The Singer who was in a band called GIRL with the guitarist in Def Leppard. Traci was the "GUNS" in GNR. Phil actually kick a full Fosters I had set on the speaker across the dancefloor at a bar when I saw LA Guns once. I had a cranial vapor-lock putting it there. Just never thought.
Jay with those very random random references. "Reminds me of CJ Snare from Firehouse." The guy knows more about rock than I do. Seriously though, you guys have come so far with this, and a lot of it has to do with your intuitive and empathetic spirits. You can't fake caring, and you've proven that you do many times. You guys are the best.
This was the third single from their second album, Cocked and Loaded, from 1989. I remember having the cassette tape of L.A. Guns’ eponymous 1988 debut album and listening to it regularly on my Walkman. The first single on that album, “No Mercy,” is a pretty blistering banger, so I would recommend that next, but I also recommend some of the songs suggested by others here as well, particularly the rockin’ singles from that album - “One More Reason,” “Sex Action,” and “Electric Gypsy,” as well as “Rip and Tear,” and “Never Enough,” two other banging singles from Cocked and Loaded. Also recommended is the single “Over The Edge,” from their 1991 album Hollywood Vampires, which was featured in the action thriller POINT BREAK (1991), starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze (which you absolutely HAVE to watch for your movie channel; you will love it, I swear to you!).
The guitarist Tracii Guns was the original Guns from Hums n Roses before Slash joined … Axl was from Hollywood Rose, the Rose part of GnR so that’s his history. When he left that’s when he formed LA Guns. You should check out RIP and Tear, Vampire, Gypsy Soul, Shoot for Thrills, Bitch is Back, Never Enough, Wild Obsession & My Koo Ka Choo. Love them live that is where you see the energy and far better attitude than Axl etc ….. love them and they are still going today.
I'm so glad you guys have reacted to L.A. Guns!! They have so many great rockin' songs! Try Rip And Tear, Never Enough, No Mercy, Electric Gypsy, Venus Bomb, Speed.
I told ya so! Don't know if it was my comment, but glad you did this one finally. I'm sure it's been said already but Traci Guns was the original lead guitar for GNR, his name and Axl's were what gave the band its name: Guns N Roses. He left before the first album was done. The hardest heaviest song I remember by L.A. Guns was Kavorkian, which shows off a completely different style of singing.
This is from their sophomore release 1989's Cocked & Loaded, which is arguably their best album. This of course was released at the tail end of the hair metal movement when every band had to have a power ballad & in my opinion is one of the best & harkens back to a more classic rock sound. You have to listen to to Never Enough & I Want To Be Your Man from this album, absolute rockers that Jay should love.
Hey guys! This is my first time to comment but I’ve been watching awhile and love y’all’s reactions especially to ballads and by 80’s hair bands! I’d love to see one to Warrant’s “I Saw Red” my fave power ballad EVER. Side note: We live in Shawnee and my daughter is a freshman at OBU. I have noticed the Bison football shirts! 🦬😉
The original name of the Astros when the team was formed in 1962 was the " Houston Colt 45's". They changed it to Astros in 1964, coinciding with NASA's move to Houston.
L.A Guns guitarist Tracii Guns was the Guns in Guns N Roses before Slash. Singer Phil Lewis prior to L.A Guns sang in glam metal band Girl which featured short blonde hair guitarist Phil Collen prior to him joining Def Leppard.
Ok, I’m going to repeat what a few others have said just to increase the chance of you getting it… House of Pain by Faster Pussycat. It’s one of those songs that has been on a constant loop in the back of my head since I first heard it over 30 years ago.
Jay & Amber, it’s been well over a year since you reacted to Mark Anthony (Marc). Amber will melt hearing him sing “You Sang To Me”!!!! He was married to Jennifer Lopez for about 10 years.
LA GUNS is awesome! They are an underrated band. I think Jay would like the self title album by Heaven's Edge. Can't Catch Me, it's fast paced and the drums are amazing.
"Fun fact" Tracii Guns showed up on the video set with his hair cut short. It use to be long like the others have. Nobody new about it until he arrived. It eventually started the trend of some of the other hair bands cutting theirs.
This one always makes me think of my 10th grade girlfriend Jill. She loved LA Guns. Thank you! Haven’t heard this in a few years and, need to put back in rotation. Love this tune. If you do some more LA Guns, how about “Some Lie for Love” off Hollywood Vampires”?
Love L.A. GUNNS !! You can't go wrong with any of there songs. You should check out Damn yankees again. You want to hear power check out come again. Great vocals and guitar riff.
Tracii Guns was the original guitar player for Guns N' Roses. That's how the name Guns N' Roses came about Tracii Guns and Axl Rose. But he was replaced by Slash.
My band opened for L.A. guns, Portland Oregon in 2019 and they hadn't missed a beat!! One of my favorite power ballads!! Check out "Never Enough" Thats a rocker of theirs and its a blast
Alright my babies.... I've been fortunate to see this band at least seven times. I was able to meet Phil Lewis, and the other members for a meet and greet after a show. An awesome bunch of guys, in an awesome band ‼️🔥💯🔥🎼🎶🎸🥁🎤🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
NEVER ENOUGH is an L.A. Guns must hear, pure Rocker!
Rip And Tear is a good one, too.
Also Electric Gypsy
“Some lie for love” as well.
All of Cocked And Loaded is kick ass
And such a fun video, too!

Yes .. if your 50+ you all know !!!
I was wondering if I was the only one who knew about the band Girl and who was in it. I remember Lillian Axe covering their song, My Number.
LA Guns is in there own genre of music known as”sleaze rock”. Some of there well known songs are “Never Enough”, “One More Reason”, “Sex Action”, “Rip and Tear”, “It’s Over Now” and my favorite “Electric Gypsy”

Wow Rob Squad reacting to a band that nobody else would do. I'm very impressed with your channel. Rock on Rob Squad
Tracii Guns was in Guns-n-Roses before they made it, in case you ever wondered where the "Guns" part of their name comes from.
Funny how few people know this.
LA Guns and Hollywood Rose members joined together to make Guns and Roses.
Check out "Electric Gypsy", by L.A. Guns, too. It's on a couple of my riding playlists. *Jordan, you'll be wanting a bike, after hearing it, and seeing the music video.*

'80s and early '90s. Power ballads were common.
"Never Enough " and "It's Over Now" from early '90s were also hits from LA Guns. Glam rock band

@@StMichael7 ohhh. Ok. I had no clue. I was still under the original impression
I just listened to Never Enough by LA Guns last night. Hadn't listened to them in ages. That one is a banger.
Steve Riley, the drummer, was in W.A.S.P. before LA Guns. Electric Gypsy is another good song
House of Pain by Faster Pussycat. Just thought of that classic, if they haven't done it they definitely should. A tear jerker, and a rare very real song from that genre.

They have lots of great songs you guy's should go down that rabbit hole
Traci guns the guitar player in LA guns used to play in guns and roses . With Axl rose that's why it was called guns and roses . Lol true story
I saw LA Guns last summer on their Sonic Slam tour with Faster Pussycat and Tom Keifer. One of the best concerts I ever went to and was under $50!
Great sing interesting back story to it , I Saw LA Guns live a few years back at a Rock fest they were really good . 🙏🤗❤️
There is also a country twang in this song as well. Such a unique sound for an 80's metal band
Ok, I’m going to repeat what a few others have said just to increase the chance of you getting it…
House of Pain by Faster Pussycat.
Never Enough is the next LA Guns gem to listen too. Great band! Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
Since you mentioned Firehouse, you should get around to doing their banger “All She Wrote”. While you’re at it touch on Jonny Lang with Lie to Me.
Phil Lewis is an incredible vocalist. And he still sounds amazing.
"Fun fact" Tracii Guns showed up on the video set with his hair cut short. It use to be long like the others have. Nobody new about it until he arrived. It eventually started the trend of some of the other hair bands cutting theirs.
Great band and still touring. I had them on podcast a few years ago.
LA Guns
Never Enough....CLASSIC
Over the Edge
It's Over Now
Rip n Tear
Cry Little Sister
This one always makes me think of my 10th grade girlfriend Jill. She loved LA Guns. Thank you! Haven’t heard this in a few years and, need to put back in rotation. Love this tune. If you do some more LA Guns, how about “Some Lie for Love” off Hollywood Vampires”?
Amber & Jay Can I ask ya'll to react to another 80's band? KIX the song is "Cold Blood",that Id love for you both to hear
My favorite song ever
Soooo many great hair, metal, rock bands you haven't done yet. Glad for you to meet LA Guns. "Electric Gypsy"
I'm soo glad you all did this one. It's one of my favorites for sure.
About Jayne Mansfield, Mariska Hargitay’s mother. Still on my playlist ❤
This has been debunked by Tracii Guns. "There was NO JANE"

I remember seeing these guys at a charity concert with Lita Ford, Ozzy, and Lynch Mob at the Long Beach Arena, sponsored by KNAC
Awwwww. My era!!! Love this. And I miss it too.
L.A.Guns has alot of good songs ,cant go wrong with their Album Hollywood Vampires, IMO
Love L.A.
Love L.A. Guns! Never Enough, Rip And Tear, Kiss My Love Goodbye, Malaria are others worth checking out by them
My band opened for L.A. guns, Portland Oregon in 2019 and they hadn't missed a beat!!
