JONNY WALKER - THIS MADE MY BIKE SO MUCH BETTER! HARD ENDURO / GO PRO

- Hey guys, little bit of prep for Romaniacs, I decided that one of the issues I’ve had lately is that the bike sits a little bit too high for extreme when climbing. So I decided to run a lower linkage and even though I’ve got long legs it’s helped massively.

I lowered my Beta 300RR 2" and being 58 years old it made single track a blast again. Light bike and two feet able to touch on a flat surface makes all the difference in the world.
Bleedin heck Jonny, you nearly took me eye out with them branches. Keep pushin lad, and wishing you loads of success
Awesome job, love the sound of the two stroke just doing its thing. Have a great Romainiacs.. 🚀👊
Thanks 👍
Mate this was really awesome! I love setup changes and hearing what it does from a pro rider and those trails looked amazing!! Great to see you doing more extreme races again, good luck at Romainiacs!!
Iv been running a similar product for my sherco l run it with the number 2 eyelets lower with and 20 mm lower seat .
l also lowered my sub frame 10 mm over all lowered my seat height by approx 50 mm
lm only about 5'6 and it's
absolute game changer for hard enduro when you do these mods
you can run lowered pegs (down and back S3) as well and l run between 30 and 40 mm of static sag chasing more traction
l did mod my swing arm for length and for hill climbs
l destroked my forks to compensate but there is a about 100 hrs of testing and tweaking as in rear spring preload and clicker settings rebound is the critical setting for traction and down hill sections there's nothing you can not sort out with time and money
Interesting information! Thanks!
Yesterday I attended the Beta 2025 press presentation in Austria.
I rode Xtrainer, 200 and 390. These bikes are really good. The RR200 impressed me very much.
Good luck for your next competition. Regards from Austria
You can see the front end is more stable because the rear is more planted . It's amazing what lowering the pegs does as well . 5mm down 5mm back gives you more traction and it's noticeable
Yes I got the lower pegs too
Nice insight on linkages, important to maintain same sag for traction, with the benefit of lower seat height!
Very true!
@@JonnyWalker Did you push the front fork up in the triple clamps to compensate the lower rear?
I was anxious the whole way up that hill, crazy skills! I wish you could have said if you thought it made a significant difference. You seemed to like it going up the hill so I’ll assume it did. I think I could manage a short 100 meters of a course like that, but that’s a crazy bit of hill climbing! I hope you win!
I love that riding area - I think Mario and Billy rode together there. But what I loved on your video- un clipped basically from bottom to Top! Some Steep stuff!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
These videos are so sick more training and GoPro videos 💪🙏🏼
Glad you like them!
Nice video Jonny 👏
The part looks well built and seems good from what you’ve said 💪
Good luck at Romania 🇷🇴
And keep it up 🤟
You inspire us all 😊
Thanks! 😃
If the rider is not taller than 1.90 cm, it is always better for hard enduro to lower the back end of the bike. If it's too much, you just compensate and balance the bike by lower it down from the triple clamp. Great video Jonny
Why is everything now classed as hard enduro? Most of the videos I see tagged as hard enduro are barely enduro. Obviously I'm not suggesting Johnny isn't riding hard enduro, he definitely is!
@@trialsted for the same reason that now if you upset someone, or they have a bit of stress its ohhhhh...my mental health is being affected, I need to have 6 months off work on th sick. Ppl are soft these days
The last trail made it easier asfuc but for an amateur its so difficult! Good job man!
That was nutso steep and difficult! Yup great prep for Romaniacs.
Yes it was!
@JonnyWalker did you consider cutting the subframe or shaving the seat foam? I tried the lowing link, it raked the front end out altered cornering big time. Plus the lowering link encouraged arm pump... great Vid seeing you try stuff!
That place looks epic and you make it look so easy! Doesn’t seem rideable for the average Joe 😅
Haha it does,I’ve been there a couple of times haha it’s not my 1st
This place looks sick! I had mine lowered 20mm with a link, rode it for a year like that and have just put the original back in. 20mm was too much but now I can’t really touch the floor again 😅. Maybe 12mm is the sweet spot instead?
Il let you know after Romaniacs
Yeah this is great mate! Fantastic vid!
Thanks for the visit
@@JonnyWalker No problem. This style of vid is always a winner for me. Something us weekend warriors can use as well haha
Can you please make a short video of your jetting setup and a sound, to have a reference how a good jeting should sound like? Huge thanks!
what a training ground - epic
Wicked vid. Interesting to see the lowering make a noteable difference to a man of your talents. Parts of that looked so steep and given the propensity for action cameras to make very steep stuff look flat, they must basically be vertical 😅👌
Loved this video Jonny, the POV footage was awesome. Just wondering if you can share what gearing (sprockets) you run on your 300? I think I want to change mine to make it slightly taller. Cheers for the content mate!
I use 12/50 for extreme but it’s only for steep hills and to save the clutch
There is a German Company called Cippito.
They are also producing such linkages but you don’t need to change the insert.
Good luck at Romaniacs
Making it look effortless
Johnny Walker: Ya the trail’s about 2 hours. Me: Ya the trail’s about 2 starters.
Great video Jonny, where can I find these lowering links as I couldn’t see them on the Beta UK site?
betatruebaonline.com/enduro-trueba-factory/23297-productonuevo.html
The alloy coloured adjusters ovals are tightened to the swingarm but the red coloured arm isnt tightened to the adjuster ovals.
This will loosen over time and gain free play.
The red arm should have a pinch bolt to tighten it onto the adjuster ovals.
How did you get that Akrapovič Silencer for that BETA 2-Stroke !?! I have a 2024 Beta 300rr RE and can Not get one...
Jonny help us little legged people out 😅 have you got a link to buy this kit ? I Can’t find it anywhere in the UK
Haha

@@JonnyWalker ordered thank you
Good luck at Romanics, how often does Beta give you a practice bike?
Very nice track love to have it close
Incredibly enjoyable video Johnny. My wife and I genuinely enjoy your videos. Can you post a link to the product, I cannot find it on their website? And how much race sag do you run?
Thanks, always 40mm sag

@@JonnyWalker Thank you for the kind reply.
Quick question do you ride alone when training etc? Looks a great training ground! Peter, C90 at Erzberg
Did I miss something here, surely changing the lever length will also change the way the shock travel works?
Not that I could feel,I’m wanting it to sit lower and go through faster which it does now, felt a lot better for getting traction
@@JonnyWalker I think that is all about swingarm position making the bike squat better. I agree with most that adjusting the forks by the same amount will stop the wheelies. Do you have a controlled power valve?
Yes a smidge. I know the 1” lowering link on the KTMs most increase the spring rate by .2 (ie 4.2 to 4.4) because there’s a bit more leverage and makes softer. Used em a bunch for my wife and kids
So he is human??? I didn't think he was. I thought he was a AI machine the way he rides! Cool dude!
Interesting to see what setting you eventually go with on the link
3 dots as low as it goes,I wouldn’t want to go any more I feel it’s about perfect
@@JonnyWalker thanks Jonny much appreciate your response keep up the good work on the vlog 👌
What gearing are you running Jonny? 12:50? Or have you changed it now that the bike is getting better traction?
Yes 12-50
I thought Whales 🐋 was the place to go for enduro terrain but that place is amazing 👌🏻👌🏻
This place is sick, good for a riding holiday, all legal and 400 hectares
@JonnyWalker Er.....care to share where it is?
P.S. I can't believe Beta haven't given you a spanking factory mount 🤔
It's so nice, seeing a top tier pro do his own bike work and not have a perfectly clean and maintained bike all the time.
Is this not available in the USA? all I can find is the fast away version
Why did you opt for the link vs lowering the shock internally and did you raise the forks to match?
What about getting X-pro MY25 mode (-20mm), custom carb settings and KYB suspension?? , will suit your preferences
smooth operator! smoooooth oooperaaaarator
Im wondering how the front end feel versus the oem linkage? Less weight on the front tire could be problematic on faster section?
Nice info bro 👌
Yes Bosss .. more better . oohoo :)
good job, man !
Thanks!
Beta 🚀🐎
Where the hell can you get this adjustable linkage Johnnie? I can’t find it no where only ones i can find is the fixed ones
I would like to know too. Please!
Yeah i need to know too. The only one similar is the fastway one.
Need to know!
Sorry here is the link

@JonnyWalker What basic carburetor setting do you use on the 2024 twin spark plug engine?
172, Nozj 38 is my go too
@@JonnyWalker Interesting. Im running the nozj too but im using a 42 and 168. Still fiddling with it tho.
@@JonnyWalkerthird notch?
Did you slide your forks up after to correct the turning 🤔
No I kept the forks the same,I use them 1 line down from the top
Great video as always, wish i had 1/10th of your ability
You can do it!
How tall are you johnny lv watched you ride extreme and you don't really look to be struggling with you foot dabs and steep pivot turns
No I struggle when I’m climbing with my feet down, it kicks me and my weight goes forward and I loose traction. It’s to stop that
@@JonnyWalker yeah traction is definitely a key factor confidence is another matter for us mortal riders lv been running Bridgestone E 50 extreme 140/80/18 at 3 psi (bridgie ultra heavy tubes) 3 rimlocks for crazy stuff and 4 around faster single tracks as lm not racing for sheep stations l don't have the need to run moose and still get pretty good results thanks for sharing some of your tips and tricks it certainly helps the weekend warriors with set up and less wheel spin means less damage to our favourite tracks
but this 40mm is static SAG, how about rider SAG does it change?
Always go for 112 rider sag
Can you buy the cap anywhere?
Do you ever drop a link on chain to move rear tire forward and to make the bike more nimble.
For superenduro I use the stock 2t chain and for extreme I use the 4t chain to make the bike a little longer
are those KTM tripple clamps ?
Just some fine tuning
whats the supplier of this lowering linkage?
What gearing are you using at the moment
Great vlog… needs an outro. Conclusion necessary 👌🥈
any more 200 content coming jonny?
I sold the bike as I never got time to ride it
Im gona buy some longer legs, its a thing
how is this possible such a taller guy lowering the bike?
Nice video
Thanks
Una barranco de puta madre there Jonny boi. Cameras don't do it justice
Short arse! 🙋🏻♂️ I’d be No3
Did you not have reset rider sag ?
Yes kept checking it but it didn’t change as much as I thought
@@JonnyWalker I fitted koubalink lowered my beta 30mm , coz I’m short 😂
1.Isn't it very rich with nozj?
2.gearing?
I noticed on mine that it was very lean with stock jetting. I use the nozj with a 42 and 168. Gearing i dropped to a 13 in the front but i might try going up to a 49 or maybe 50 in the rear.
@@masterbeta343 elevation and temperatures? And what year bike?
@@extremeendurochannel7657 its a 2024 300 race edition. Typically i ride 500-1500 feet and around 75-80 degrees.
I dont understand why de the bikes are coming so tall!
Should be a Beta works rider!!!
That training loop looks awesome/awful. You make it look easy but it clearly isn't.
This is the kind of riding I like.. to do (?!) nah yeah nah
How Tall are you?
Can you just pay and play there?
Yes there is a house to stay in also
@@JonnyWalker mint thanks for reply riding looks mint there
You bought a ktm .🤣
TOO BAD NO ONE UNDER SIX FEET TALL CAN ENJOY IT... YOUR LEGS ARE LONGER THAN I AM TALL! DISRIMINATION AGAINST VERTICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE!!!! WTF?????
