The ending of the video left me feeling conflicted. At the end, she proclaimed that every person should be celebrated for who they are, yet spent the previous 8 minutes of the video talking pretty negatively about a whole group of people. On the one hand, I understand she had a very difficult upbringing and a negative experience with Hassidic Judaism, but on the other hand, you can't really declare that every person should be celebrated for being who they are when what you really mean is "every person I agree with should be celebrated for who they are."
I don't think the answer is to call her a hypocrite. She's learning to navigate a difficult world just like the rest of us, and I understand she wants to spread positivity. But I think she's just wrong - not everyone should be celebrated for who they are. Not everyone is an objectively good person. Just because someone is part of the queer community doesn't mean they're a good person or their actions should be validated. Just like someone from the Hassidic community shouldn't automatically be demonized for being part of an ultra-conservative group which has, objectively, done a lot of harm to people over the centuries. People should be judged on an individual basis based on their merit & character.

I also grew up (and, still am) in the Hasidic community in Brooklyn, I attended Hasidic schools, and went through the entire Hasidic education system. This is just one perspective, of one person within a community of a few hundred thousand. I had a regular education, from kindergarten all the way through college, through medical school. I did not have to work harder to get into medical school because of me coming from a Hasidic school, the education was in par with the public school education system. I respect Abby very much, but you still can’t expect to learn the culture of a entire community, based off of one person, who, unfortunately did not have an easy childhood.
