When this record came out I was working in a small record store in San Diego. I would pull the classic High Fidelity move and put five copies on the counter and cue up "Cloaking Robe of Elvenkind" or this track, and sell all five copies. Criminally underrated band.

Oh I saw stars falling all
    Around her head
    Red gold and blue
    Sherry Fraser where are you
    'Cause I saw stars falling
    All around your head
    When we were young
Sherry Fraser where have you gone
    We're all wondering
    When will you come back
    And play some day.
    Sherry yeah
The mad hatter he waits for Alice
    To come to tea again
He waits forever for his old lover
    And always wonderin'
Will I see stars falling all around your head
    When you return
Sherry Fraser what have you learned
    And we're all wondering
    When will you come back
    And play some day
    And please do come back
    And play some day
    Please do come back
    And play some day
    Sherry yeah

When this album first dropped back in '97, Virgin Megastore in Times Square had a kiosk with headphones where you could listen to it for free. Like the immature teenager I was, I _only_ listened to "Sex and Candy" on repeat every day until they changed it out. Twenty-six years later, I'm kicking myself for not giving the rest of the album a chance. The entire thing is beautiful.

I had never seen this till tonight. Never heard it. Didn't want to. I knew Sherry also. John and she were wonderful friends, like twin spirits who knew it. They fought to protect the innocence of childhood in each other's hearts. Always sharing some great secret behind closed lips, winning smiles, and twinkling eyes. Always nice and kind to others. It was an American Love Story. I am sorry most people missed it. This was the 1980s. I remember sitting on her family's couch while John played drums one day in their family room. She had a nice older brother also. Real big guy. She was special. A rare creature. I could tell then she was going to take the path less trodden. I worried about her. She actually let me listen to her music once that she was working on. Sherry and John did not do this thing. They shared with each other and no one else. I was honored. For years after when I would get news of John, I would ask if there was news of Sherry. Invariably the friend would bow their head and shake it a little and say, "No." When it began to become clear she was not coming back, I prayed for her and then tried to put it out of my mind. We had had quite a few deaths of classmates, suicides, cancer, train accidents, and what have you growing up. That had all been in our teens. I didn't want to lose another. How are you John. Long time. John, how about a little Dear Mr Fantasy. A little Low Sparks, A little Jimi. You were to be the next Steve WInwood. Nipper says it is not too late. We could release it only on vinyl. What do you say. For old time sake John. It will hit serious cult classic status - minimum. I know you still have it in you. Are you interested in cutting one more album. I hope the years brought treasure beyond earthly.
    Much Love John, Tom Joyce
PS - John, you could not find a model as beautiful as Sherry could you.

I truly don’t know how to start this off. First emotion is being drawn into this beautiful melody, which truly had me questioning why I hadn’t heard this before. However after understanding a little more details through chariotreign’s intriguing flashback of nothing less than a spectator monument/memory, now my question is why didn’t I find my way there! Honestly just finished listening to this for the third time, so Obviously my next move is to understand more about this awesome sounding soul named Sherry Fraser. Chariotreign, the glimpse into this memory, was truly appreciated, one should only ponder on the stories there fellow strangers can tell. I’m sure one day we’ll all meet again! God Bless

@@itsjustagame5631 Hello, I took a different path before Marcy was formed. John, and I used to talk long into the night under the stars on his family's back porch long before that. He would practice many of the songs people would come to know in a studio my family owned. His older brother was very kind and evolved. If anyone knows anything of Sherry, I have not heard. I just know I was with her maybe a month or two before she "disappeared". I think she wanted to "Vanish". I still pray she is alright. She once came over to my home, and we spoke quietly in the sunshine filtering through the trees. For that one hour, our spirits were free of constraint and the asphalt of the driveway turned into a beautiful mosaic of patterns and the trees were humble participants to our souls' yearning. We whispered lest to dispel the magic. She left with near tears in her eyes. I think she knew, despite promises, she would not be able to return. God Bless her Soul. I am glad you liked the song about a friend who was a kind soul. The world can be too cruel. She was real. She was rare. She was special. We still grieve. We do not know. But the fact that she lived... this is much. Be of good glad spirit, as a one time friend, I can say, she would not want you to fret, but to live and spread the Magic of Caring. :)

@@chariotreign I bet you have some pretty intense dreams. I used speak and write like you. But when I was 31 I started chasing the dragon 🐉 doing whip it’s almost daily for about a year. I think I may have even caught it a few times. Now life is just “ordinary”, with only a few moments here and there of synchronicity and magic surreal moments that are almost like my life is accentuated through the perspective of a movie director. I feel dumb. All the thoughts are there like before but they can’t form words when I’m speaking. I guess the one good thing is that I don’t even bother arguing with people. But it does feel like a handicap not being able to offer a profound perspective to people anymore when needed in the heat of the moment . Sigh 🤷🏻‍♂️ oh well. You live and learn. And I learned . Perhaps if one of my two daughters is ever distracted by the glimmer of hallucinations/hallucinogens I’ll be able to offer my story and stop them .
Seeing stars around someone is exactly the kind of life I used to live . As a child and an adult I use to have natural born kinda extra sensory visuals around people and situations. I always had it/this ability but never was able to explain it to my parents as a child . My first born is 10. She’s so secretive and never reveals what is going on in her heart and mind. But I remember her once telling me a few years ago when she takes pause she sees “ the colored dots everywhere”. So I must have passed the gene onto her. When pressed to elaborate she’ll clam up hold her cards close to her chest not wanting to elaborate 🙄. She has no idea how lucky she is . If I started talking “nonsense” when I was little, my parents would have shut it down and dismissed it quickly. Dad would always seemed bothered when it became apparent I had huge imagination and had my head in the clouds. My 3 old daughter is just like I was at that age . I didn’t talk and I can tell she sees things other people can’t see. Nowadays they call it being high functioning autist . Well whatever . All I know is whatever creative outlet they choose I will nurture the hell out of it.
So yeah when I first heard this song in 98 or 99 driving around it left such an impression on me that I remembered it for the rest of my life . So I guess I gotta look into Marcy Playground now right ? Lol . Everything happens for reason. Maybe I wasn’t meant to learn the music until I was older. Thanks for sharing that memory with me . It’s rare to meet people who freely share their surreal perspective in life. People (like my daughter) prefer to keep it personal and close out of fear of being misunderstood or ridiculed I guess .

@@itsjustagame5631 Ok. Welcome to The Jedi Training Academy of the Old Republic. Not kidding. Read further, only if I have not scared you off already. Are you prepared? I would and can guide you. You write, "It's rare to meet people who freely share their surreal perspective in life." Agreed. If you get nothing else from my response, consider watching my lone video. It is intended to awaken the remembrance of what you speak in the listener. I wanted it to be so pure of heart in delivery, that people would feel it was fit to be played to their daughters at night as a bed time story. Will you tell me if I succeeded? I truly understand all you beautifully share. Despite your kindly compliments, I cannot write, ... yet. I hold myself back. But I can still speak true. As you. You touched on so much that is imho Holy. I like how you highlight "ordinary". What do you know of Shamanism, Ordinary and Non-ordinary Consciousness? Much, I would wager. You write, "almost like my life is accentuated through the perspective of a movie director." Almost? It is. I promise. "Movie Director" is a label, but essentially correct. Bad directors can really screw things up for us. You write, "I feel dumb". I understand the feeling. But they are the ones that are dumb. Dumb as in Numb to common sense and the reality of what they could be as souls, while you understand the truth. Ever hear of the Ugly Duckling? Hi, Ugly. :) "But it does feel like a handicap not being able to offer a profound perspective to people anymore when needed in the heat of the moment ." Do you know how rare a statement this is? This statement sets you apart in my eyes. So clearly, the words are there for you when you forget they are not allowed to be. Access that. There are many ways to defeat the enemy of what you are meant to be. "You live and learn. And I learned." No. I say kindly friend, You did not learn, you were taught. Incorrectly. Oh, yes, you learned much, but not of what should have been taught. Time to Unlearn. "Seeing stars around someone is exactly the kind of life I used to live . As a child and an adult I use to have natural born kinda extra sensory visuals around people and situations. I always had it/this ability but never was able to explain it to my parents as a child ." Do you still "allow" these perceptions? Notice how I declare you the authority on what you perceive. Rare are the parents educated to be on the look out for such children. Indeed, protect the secret world of your daughter with all you have. It is her connection with the Divine. Lucretius called the "colored dots" Lifetrons I believe. This was thousands of years ago. Have you studied much the wisdom of India? Did you ever read the scholarly book on re-incarnation as exposed through an Alaskan Tribe, where it is common for the young children of 3-10 to "remember" who their uncles and aunties were the last time around? Eventually the tribe tells them they "Must Forget." And they do. But the records are kept. Yes, Nurture. So important. This is my email "reign_ashford_1@msn.com", should you want to speak further, if not know I have sought thru life to be as The Giving Tree and now I give you thanks for caring for your daughters and protecting their hearts.

I’m crying. My first crush was Lola Mbola from Robotboy and I donated my blue cosplay dress with that belt painted on to it to Novita when I got too old for it. My twin sister also pretended to be Tommy by painting two stripes onto a white t-shirt. At least I know that these days, there’s probably a little girl in a wheelchair pretending to be her. It makes me both happy and sad
