I may be an outlier having 3/4 Scot & Norway Viking heritage but I have drank way more than excessively and never had to toss cookies (what alcohol abuse!). Sambuca comes in black and white and is a lovely licorice/anise flavoured drink. I have long sworn to the benefits that several to many shots of sambuca have on digestive and respiratory problems. Tequila is one of the very few alcohols that I really can't find a taste for. There are so many good tasting ones to imbibe, why drink something that tastes like the bottom of a bird bath lol? One way to avoid hangovers (and throwups) is to limit the amount of sweetened mix in cocktails and to not mix too much fizzy drink with alcohol shots. Bubbles need to come out and up is quicker than down. Lastly, eat something before drinking and for every drink or 2 have a glass of water. True sport requires hydration. And, have fun out there lol.
It's not just how much you drink. it's how much tolerance you've built up, how much mass you have, whether it's on an empty stomach, and how fast you drink it among other things.

Here's how you do it, I too had to learn the hard way, I was so tired of Ralph & Earl after trying just once not to get sick. First thing without fail you must put something light in your stomach 4-6 hours prior to drinking. Secondly, and here's the magic, before you leave your house always take two Tylenol, I always took Excedrin because they were the best, but if course are no longer made. Lastly, never mix wine with any hard liquor big no-no. I always drank beer, and never drank any dark hard liquor, only the clear hard liquor, Grey Goose, Bacadi, Gin, Tequila rarely. Stayed completely away from Jack Daniel's, Jim Beem, NO WHISKEY! PUKE CITY HERE COME, EVERYTIME!! Lay on your stomach, place one foot on the floor so you won't be spinning... These Seriously Works!!!

The key to sambuca is to use a wide mouth shot glass. Make sure its glass, not plastic. Now, pour your shot of sambuca, get your bic, and light it on fire. The alcohol content isn't that high, so you need the wide mouth shot glass to have enough surface area for it to burn. Let it burn for 15 to 30 seconds. Now, while holding the glass in one hand, quickly snuff the fire with the palm of your other hand. Do it quickly, flat down on the top of the glass. If you do it slow, you will get burned. Then, remove your hand and slam the shot. The fire caramelizes some of the sugar in the sambuca. Normally, the licorice flavor is overpowering. After burning, it is still strong, but the added caramelization, turns it down, just enough, to make it an enjoyable shot. Enjoy

All in the name of fundraising. Anyway, he challenges me to a drinking contest, just beer, and somehow I manage to beat him every time! One after the other. I excuse myself to the loo, one of his buddies follows me in. All good, I’m toasted but not sick. Virtually passed out by the end of the night. So was my roommate. I find out later he made me win in order to get me sh!tfaced, there was money on how long it would take to get me to throw up. They lost, because I never did. The next day, though, was not fun. I rarely drink alcohol because I suffer from epilepsy for which I take medication. And as we all know, alcohol and medicine don't mix very well. So when I drink alcohol, I do so in small amount.

Some peoples bodies lack the enzyme that breaks down alcohol. If my neice drinks any type of alcohol, it makes her sick, even in small amounts. She can't even take cold medicine that contains alcohol without getting sick.
Stick with beer and your in the clear. But also check to see if you have allergic reactions to alcohol. In my relatives case it became worse as they became older. Now one sip can send them to the bathroom.

I drank a pint of 190 Proof Grain in a large slurpee back in the 80s. I hurt for 5 days. I have had proabley 30 drinks since. I do not like alcholcol...it has to be frutity and sweet and not taste like alchocol or I will not be drinking it. And beer....cannot stand it. Horrable.
