    Gathi are made from sugar and specially for gudhi padwa. This is Maharashtra special recipe. This is very easy and simple recipe. This turns out same as store bought gathi. Gathis are made for celebrating New Year that is Gudhi Padwa. Gudhi Padva is the beginning of New Marathi year. Gudhi padva is one of 3 1/2 muhurtas or 3 1/2 auspicious muhurtas. It is so said that you can start any new work on these days. These are very good and auspicious days. Gudhi padva is celebrated on the 1st day of Marathi month Chaitra to mark beginning of New Year of Hindu calendar. Gudhi means flag. Many people erect gudhi in front of their house as a part of the celebration. These gathi are tied and are offered as Naivedya to gudhi. We already have seen gathi recipe. Today I am giving you perfect measurements. This is a very easy and simple recipe. These get perfect texture and color. Do try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me.     Ingredients:
    • 1 cup Sugar
    • 1/2 cup Water
    • 1/2 tsp Fruit salt
    Method:
    • Heat up a pan on medium heat and add sugar, water.
    • Mix well and cook until the syrup gets 2 thread consistency.
    • Cook on high heat for about 7-8 minutes and check the consistency.
    • When froth begins to collect on the syrup, take out some syrup in a dish.
    • Let it cool down and check the consistency. It should be thick and should have 2 thread
    consistency.
    • Another indication that the syrup is ready is that sugar crystals begin to form along the edge
    of the pan.
    • Add fruit salt and mix in quickly.
    • Take out some syrup out in a dish.
    • If a nice ball is formed it means the syrup is cooked perfect.
    • When lot of sugar is collected along the edge of the pan then the syrup is ready.
    • The processes after this point must be quick.
    • Take a dish and spread a thread in shape of garland.
    • Pour out the sugar syrup on the thread to make gathi garland.
    • Let it cool down a little and loosen the gathi from the dish. Gathi is all ready.
    • You can make 2 medium size garlands from the mixture we made.
