Yamaha Fz1 01-05 Air box mod also known as a Fazer. This is the improvement that your bike has been asking for. You're seeing it here on Chuck's Creations
I did this mod along with Ivan's jet kit. Old forums from like 2004 had a slew of pics. The one pictured was a bit more cleaned up, but the cut was the same. Yoshimura had a similar airflow mod, using dyno holes instead. This is a good video, i remember 'some' riders were confused by the pics and accidentally cut the TOP riveted portion of the airbox off, which caused other issues. A video showing all the angles helps. A smol dremel bit can really help clean the edges if it whistles. If it doesn't whistle, slap it together and ride more. Gen 1 FZ1 is literally a tank and people get 100k+ miles on them.
The fuel was actually still turned off at the end but normal idle for me is 1100ish rpm, there are still packings in the muffler but no baffle, I have the baffle/spark arrestor though, my muffler is cracked now so it's louder and awaiting replacement, thanks for watching
Hi, I removed the tank to fix the petcock valve, but now I have some problem, there are 2 small hoses under the tank, I found out it is for breathing air, but what about the other one, what is it for? Now I don't know which hose to connect to which pipe, or can I just connect it back regardless of which hose?
Love this!!! y 01 FZ1 has been sitting for 9 yrs. I had a work fall 12 yrs ago changed my life. After many surgeries Im feeling really good and want to ride again. did the whole thing with new gas, drain carbs, new gas with seafoam, and the bike started!!! ran a little ruff, went up and down the street a couple of times and its getting better. I live in alaska and have the bike in Seattle area. So bummed that FZ1 owners assoc is no longer around. you don't have any tips for this area?
My best tip would be to glance at the race prep video's on this channel and consider pulling your carbs off for a clean, change your brake fluid, fork seals are likely to start leaking, watch fz1 front to back on this channel
Hi, can you please share your experience I purchased this year 2003 FZ one and it is all stock thinking of installing a slip on which would be the same length as the stock muffler, my question is could I get away with only installing the new muffler and not doing anything else? Thank you… Ed
Hi Edgar, that's a good question, the answer is no, while it will run, it will be low on power and running lean, potential engine damage lean, you're going to need a jet kit, and I suggest an ivan's kit, its kind of an all or nothing on that kind of deal, I would wait and get the kit with the intake boots or do your own but get the kit for intake boots, slip on, and emission removal at the least, it wakes this bike up tremendously but at some cost as to tameness
Yw and I understand, I bought a few at the time and this one still looked good but offered a bit more protection, this one looks to be about the same 23-506-41 part # 2 inches taller and a bit wider zero gravity sport touring, they have taller ones still called sport touring so I chose the 2in option and it has served me well and still looks acceptable to the style of the fz1, they made a double bubble this size as well
Any downside to doing this? Is there any point in doing it if you don't also pair it with a carb retune or rejet? Opened my airbox today to clean the filter, but didn't have the balls to do this...also didn't have a grinder handy! But maybe I will in the near future?
I would imagine that if you wanted to do this to prep for the future it would be fine, this mod is for just a tiny bit of added top end power, with the stock exhaust and such you wouldn't be able to tell a difference

Thank's and for sure a tank
Always love seeing that bike
Damm you got that idle down to like 500rpms 😂😂 sounds baffleless

Remove top cover, cut hole in lid same size as air filter inlet, radius the edges, and polish them smooth, No restrictions. THAT, IS THE MOD.!
Lol 😆

They are both vents and no it doesn't matter which one goes where
@@ccreations123 Ok, thanks!

What windshield is that..? Does it keep the wind off your face ?
Zero gravity and no, but it does allow you to have something to tuck behind in the rain and a bit more general wind protection
How tall is it ? It's not the sport touring model is it ?
I think it's a couple inches taller than stock, it might be the touring one, I'm not sure, I bought this one more than 15 years ago
Thanks for replying..ive got an 04 and want a bigger one..but hard to decide by a picture..and you can't try it out first !!
