The leaf cutter ant food process is pretty interesting
So first they take the leaves and feed them to a fungus that they grow in their colonies and the ants eat the fungus
I thought most of ants did that
That’s what school thought me was the average ant diet

Fun fact:pheromone trails are commonly used in battle by weaver ants, if a weaver ant sees an upcoming attack it releases pheromone trails which they will go to the nearest outpost to alert the guards, the guards follow the pheromone trail to the frontline
Another fun fact:weaver ants dont build their colonies underground, they make it out of leaves, a worker pulls a leaf, and if its flexible enough more workers come to help, then they get their larvae which act like tiny cute glue guns they use their silk as glue and (just like glue) it sticks once touched

Using workers is actually useless for the leaf cutters in Empires of the Undergrowth. It's actually more advantageous to use the basic soldier ant as your main foraging parties. They protect their own lines and they gather way more leaf per ant than the workers. Even looking at cost, it costs more to build the gathering force of workers compared to a single soldier
workers are just for utility, minims, increasing fungus capacity, ect!
@@qwertyqwert2818 Besides the queens starting workers building anymore is useless is what I am saying. You never need more than the starting 7. The soldiers are best for foraging.

Leaf and normal ants are the same but leaf ants eat leafs and normal ants eat bugs so killing bugs is good to expand if you have leaf ants but using normal ants are good for expanding and for eating bugs.
