The nuns and the Catholic Church has an awful lot of questions to answer about Tuam and other mother and baby homes they ran. Also the amount of illegal baby selling to rich couples in Ireland and other countries needs to be addressed by the Irish government!

No more understanding to be done. It is time for the Irish state, the Vatican the orders of nuns and brothers to be sued et condemned severely by the courts. and pay compensation for the work done but not paid and the years wasted ,incarcerated though blameless and innocents.

Irish government investigation summary: "Ireland was a cold harsh environment for many, probably the majority, of its residents during the earlier half of the period under remit. It was especially cold and harsh for women. All women suffered serious discrimination. Women who gave birth outside marriage were subject to particularly harsh treatment. Responsibility for that harsh treatment rests mainly with the fathers of their children and their own immediate families. It was supported by, contributed to, and condoned by, the institutions of the State and the Churches. However, it must be acknowledged that the institutions under investigation provided a refuge - a harsh refuge in some cases - when the families provided no refuge at all".
This is the result when a State is not clearly and absolutely secular. People can have their faith but crimes like this are only possible when the State and the popular faith are associated.
I am going to have to do a lot of research on this. I know that I have ancestral history that fit into this time frame, though I have nothing really specific. I will have to look through the names again, but as many have said that only the women were punished for such things, and the fathers were basically given a free pass. I have more information from my male relatives than I do of the female ones. I hope to be doing much more research very soon though I expect most will be on my paternal side. I will definitely have to look further into this.

No mention of evidence of burial in a septic tank after all. I wonder why.
