Remember seeing this when I was about 13 and my dad bought the game for me. Back then I didn't think of it as bad but now looking back on it I can see why some people had issues with it. So brutal.
Committing an organised act of terror in which civilians are killed en masse at an airport was pretty huge. I wish more shooters were morally thought-provoking like that. Spec Ops also did it, but MW 2's No Russian mission paved the way.

MW2 is fun, especially the multiplayer, but Spec Ops: The Line hits it out of the park. While "No Russian" might be good for a novel shock, in terms of gameplay, it's boring as hell. Take away the ability to kill civilians and you're left with a slow, plodding, Edgy™ escort mission before the police arrive. I'd rather have a good story throughout than just a mediocre story with one interesting scene.

Opie, after a caller says he forgot to blink when playing COD "I've been there with some of these video games". I guarantee Opie last played a video game when Atari was popular. He always tried so hard to be a part of some conversations, instead of just being himself and providing his own ideas.

That scene brought out the evil in people so well, the ironic thing is you didnt have to shoot the civilians- in fact the scene of the terrorists shooting you afterwards because they knew youre undercover made alot more sense if you had problems shooting everyone up. One might say the developers expected people to be shocked and do nothing, instead of going on a sick killing spree then complaining about why it let you do that afterwards. Before the level there is a warning about whats happening and an option to skip it as well which should alarm anyone playing violent video games- because thats highly unusual, they never have those, but people are still suprised it really is as offending as they were warned it was and then try to blame their evil onto others.
Honestly i did my best to kill everyone, i was a fucked up teenager^^- the fact that you didnt have to but could kill the civilians, just ment to me that i either wasnt gonna kill anyone or if i was to go and try that shit out, i might as well take advantage of the fact that its normally not possible and just go kill everyone. Like i said- Evil^^

That level made me feel fucked up. The first two times I played through I shot as soon as I could trying to kill as many of them as I could. It wasn't till I talked to my friends and found out that you could go through the whole thing without shooting a civilian. I think we need video games to remind us that we all have that spark of sociopathy within us. Without that reminder who knows what horrible things we might vote for, or support without remembering who we are and what we can be convinced to do. With only a little suggestion a large portion of the population is willing to follow authority, regardless of what they're asked to do. I'm still very impressed to this day that Patrice never shot any off the civilians. We all need more people like that in this world. He was gone too soon.

What i don't understand is why people would want this out of a game if it's rated? It's rated R for a reason, I think any adult shouldn't be shocked by anything they make in a video game whether it be this or any other sick thing someone can think of.
