Today I am accompanied by my good friend, Chufa, with whom I have walked through the old neighborhoods where we studied the high school. We were talking about the splendid past of the buildings and the current neglect they suffer, like many historic buildings in the city. Barrio Concha y Toro and Barrio Brasil have a particular charm and an unparalleled heritage beauty. Join us for a walk.
    Destination: Huérfanos Bridge.
    About the channel...
in Motion is a channel that seeks to portray various corners of the city and its surroundings, where the streets and its architecture are the protagonists. The content of this space is inspired by various "Walking" channels around the world and the desire to leave a record so that my children can appreciate in the future how the city where they lived looked.
    About my city...
Santiago also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile, as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. It is the center of the most densely populated region in Chile, the Santiago Metropolitan Region, whose total population is 8 million, of which more than 6 million live in the continuous urban area of the city. The city is entirely in the central valley of the country. Most of the city is between 500 and 650 m (1,640 and 2,133 ft) above mean sea level.
About the Concha y Toro neighborhood...
The Concha y Toro neighborhood is located between Alameda, Erasmo Escala, Ricardo Cumming and Brasil streets in the western sector of the city of Santiago de Chile. It is characterized by its cobbled streets and old mansions that reflect the elegance and wealth of the early 20th century. Its access is easy since it is a few steps from the República Metro Station and has mobilization along the Avenida Alameda axis.
Declared a typical neighborhood for its neoclassical, gothic, art deco and beaux arts façades.
The houses all have an eclectic historicist style and were designed by the great architects of the time, including Larraín Bravo, González Cortés, Siegel, Alberto Álamos, Smith Solar, Machicao and Bianchi, achieving great harmony, despite the individual differences (neo-gothic, neoclassical, baroque and academic forms are collected).
The objective was to reproduce a European neighbourhood, in such a way that a neighborhood of short and curved streets was built, intersecting each other with houses in a continuous facade organized around the former Du Pont square (today the Freedom of the Press square).
