- Welcome back everyone,
In this episode we explore Cairns while we wait for our car to get repaired from the breakdown in our last video...... We find waterholes, waterfalls and do the Skyrail to the rainforest village of Kuranda!
We then head down the coast to Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays and show you some great places to check out and stay a while!! It's an Epic coastline and we reckon you'll love a few of these hidden gems.
Enjoy & we'd love to hear your feedback!!
Cheers - Justin & Bec

Our most watched Episode - z • BEACH CAMPS ON THE NIN...
It all started when…
In December 2015 we packed up and hit the road for what we thought would be a 12 month Lap of Oz. Fast forward 4 years and we decided to create a video series of our travels to show you all what it’s like to live life on the road!!
Lived in Victoria all my life.. Sorry but it's always been a party pie .....,,,,,,,👍🤪
DRAGAN KRSMANOVIC 😂😂yeah bud, thanks for backing me up✌️
DRAGAN KRSMANOVIC same!
I’m a Victorian but never ever ever heard of a nibble pie?!?!?!?!?!
Was thinking the same thing, guess maybe some families make their own sayings up lol
bec is such a babe 🥰
She says thankyou!!
@@TripInAVan c/cascades,used to be 5 mins, from park,to a bottomless hole, base of the w/fall,we used to swing off a tree,or jump off the cliff,.BUT,,friggin tourists slipped & died couple times,so,all these get railed off & regulated, like lake placid, took some friends there on a trip, the slide had gone, just canoes,,some friggin tourist broke there neck..thanks tourism, for closing down all the fun..it only takes 1 sheep,,,eh..you should go upto the vine tree,?,.babinda ish,up the hills, gilles h/way,,theres a magnetic tree there that sways to the earths changing force, about 12 feet before the vine,if,its still there,.cant beat the table lands,,theres lakes up there with speed boat races.camping,ect.youngaburra/perramon..i built palm cove resort,& others.80,s.theres another lake near the crater.just a granite blow hole left by volcano.malanda has the best milk, they say..the river there,& used as swimming for people, is 40 ft down from the road, but the water mark is 8 ft from the road, bit of storm a while back.
Never ever EVER heard it called a nibble pie Bec.... Party pie everyday of the week.
I worked in an indoor play centre too in Victoria.
Nibble pie sounds kinky. 😂
KIRALY W 😂😂😂
Yep party pie
Yep agree... never heard of a nibble pie in my life! Party Pies definately! ... and I'm Victorian so you can't use that excuse! haha
@@jenniferthorne6464 Nibble pies are a western way of speaking. WHEN it comes to meat pies in south-west Victoria, it's a party on one side of the Stony Rises and nibble-by-nibble approach on the other. The humble party pie is referred to most in the region as a nibble pie, although the origins of the phrase are unclear.Jan 30, 2019
John Riley south west needs a good slap.
It’s party pie.
End of story.
You and your family is great ! Your kids will thank you so much one day Awesome
Aidan van Weert cheers man
My Home Town mate.
TIP, Quietly,
when walking up to Crystals the second creek that runs into main system walk up that which is on the left of the track. Opposite of the main River.
There's a secret little waterfall that locals go to to get away from the tribes of Tourists mate.
Hey have you seen Charlie Bears sad Face when at the waterfall at Crystals on ya video ?
Its just Gold.
Bramston Brother, why did you not get the tinny off to smack big Macky's mate ?
Justo & Bec, how cool is the drive over the Ranges from Innisfail getting to the top of them and winding down into Etty Bay ?
Hopefully your wife gave you the Birthday Present of your Dreams at Etty Bay ? Hahaha.🤫🤔👌
Its a local goto out of Tourist season to just chill out. It makes you forget about the World Hey.
GIDDY UP CREW !
You wanna be really, really careful at the Boulders and Josephine falls. Go uphill at both and the highest point behind them is Bellenden Kerr. This mountain has a weather station on top. It's record for rainfall in one 12 month period since it was installed in the 1950s? 12.4 meters. So you can be down at the falls just chilling, unaware that 4km away up on top of the hill 100cm of rain has just fallen in the last 2 hours. When that rainfall flows down hill, Josephine falls can go from a nice little swimming hole to a raging torent in about 10 minutes. If you're not paying attention and the water starts to rise, you could become one of the dozens of people each year who get stranded on the far side of the creek who have to be airlifted out. People have died there. Not as many who die at the boulders, but still, be really careful if you're taking kids in there. If the water starts to rise or starts to get murky, get out, get up the rocks and back on the paths. Tell anyone else who is there they need to move because a flash flood is coming.
As for the Boulders? There's a really lovely swimming hole about 30m from the carpark. Swim there. We've lost clearance divers, US navy seals, lifesavers, and more tourists than you can poke a stick at. What did they do wrong? Well they walked down the walking track to the lookout overlooking the devil's pool. Then they decided they wanted to climb over the fence and jump into the pool at the bottom of the falls. Some time between 4 and 30 days later, their body is found. Depends on what time of year it is as to how long it takes to recover them. This is my back yard. Treat her with respect or you'll be burying someone you love quicker than you can spit.
Did exactly the same trip folks it's was a lifetime memory But not cheap $8000 for 5 days hammo $250 per night was it worth it bloody oath! Marty Qld
Finally had 5 mins to myself to watch this episode. Although I've been to most of those places a number of years ago, it's great following your epic journey and what a beautiful Country we live in - North, East, South and West....we're pretty lucky (the last few months have been difficult and it's great to see the global support we've received). I don't think there's any reason to think that you don't talk enough during the episodes Bec, you guys share the chatter well to bring us your stories which is great. Lastly, nibble pie?? never heard party pies called that - Bec, are you one of these Victorians that swam from Tassie? haha PS love the long episodes!
They’re party pies. I’ve never heard them called anything else before 😂 (I live in Vic)
Agreed.
This is definitely up there for one of your best , keeping it real , awesome on how you guys take the Mickey out of each other, my wife and I have been married 10 year's, also love to travel, November last year hired a large motorhome and traveled around South island Newzealand , and now we are off to Thailand in 2 weeks, Australia is a Beautiful place and after Thailand thanks to you Guys my wife wants to see more of Australia, So we will be doing some research on 4x4's and Caravans.
Brandon Spain cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it✌️
And the winner of the "Parents of the year" award goes to....... Justin and Bec
Sean Patrick 😂😂😂
"Here on the beach by ourselves, it's all good cuz the Van's just overrrr..... there" haha love it
Rip snorta of an episode - sorry Bec but it’s a party pie here in vico
+1 for party pie!
Palm Cove caravan park north of Cairns is probably half the price per night compared to ‘Coconut’ but not as much fun for the youngsters. Great fishing off of the jetty and heaps of restaurants all in walking distance. Love the show guys!
Why Tourism Australia isn't promoting you guys is beyond me. Or a TV network picking up your content. Maybe because people are not watching TV anymore. I was there late last year visiting my son and new grandson. Thanks for the memories .Love you guys.
Scott cheers mate!! We would love Tourism Australia to get on board.
100% agree ,, i challange anyone to watch one or two episodes and not want to buy a 4by caravan and hit the road around this spectacular hone of ours
You’re creating a great childhood for your little ones. No one is on a phone, iPad, etc. love it.
Love it, thankyou
Great video! Greetings from Ohio U.S.A.
Cheers mate!!!
Cheers man
I’m a Victorian and have never in my life heard a party pie be called a nibble pie I have lived in multiple states too
I’ve just found your page and you guys are hilarious! Becs sweat on her upperlip... you just HAD to point it out. Typical husband, ya bastard 🤣🤣 my husband and I were cracking up
leahvibes haha!! Cheers guys
It's always been a favourite part of the coastline of mine when I lived up they way for so long,...except for the fact that you can rarely enter the bloody water - it's seasonal I know but I couldn't trust it. Unless you're wearing a full lycra suit or swim in the exclosures. Such drag for such beautiful part of the country. The diving off shore is fantastic of course with the GBR and all the shipwrecks! However, Give me the south coast and let me loose. Are you guys going to do the region around Maroochydore, etc. It is really nice too. Look out for Sarina, Tin Can Bay, Rainbow beach, etc. on your way down.
The nicest thing about your videos is your very cool relationship with each other and the kids. So much respect, Queensland style. Loved seeing North Qld on the vids cos it's my stamping ground. Bogan AND cool.
Fiona cheers mate 🤙
Totally agree
We often sit back and watch some older episodes…come across nibble pies… ahh what? It’s Party pies. Never heard of nibble pies until just now!
I agree mate😂😂 Victorian’s hey
“He’s a bogan & needed new clothes”
Bec you absolutely cracked me up with that one. 🤣
KIRALY W he is such a bogan !!! 😂😂😂
Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series mate I’m married to one too. He either wears work gear or footy gear & he’s 47 & coaches footy in his spare time... ya got 10 more years to go mate.

Another epic video, well done and thanks guys! We stayed in Port Douglas last July and did the sky rail etc, great day!
That was a ripper episode guys!!!! Great to see your BT50 back on the road and tracking for 2020. Look forward to your future travels:D
Vik Cebergs #greatsouthernoverland cheers mate💪💪
I was born in Vic and lived in Perth and now Brisbane and have NEVER heard it called a Nibble Pie, always Party Pie. 😂
Thanks for a great video from a great part of the world..So many places there worth visiting many times compared to so many second rate over priced places around the country. Would love to hear more about the BT50 re-engine(?), What the cause, what was the damage etc? Did Mazda look after you ok? For me at least, it is the treatment received when the chips are down that guides future buying decisions more than price.
Grahame P we got a new long block covered under warranty. Mazda were unreal to deal with👌
@@TripInAVan Thank you - that is great to hear. It's stressful enough when something like that happens and worse when you have to go head to head with the big corporates. I was quietly concerned that some of the vehicle mods may have been seen as wriggle room for them.
Great to see you back! Have to say your channel is the only one I never hit the pause button while watching ✌🏼️how awesome is this wide brown land and again thanks for your content 👍🏻🇦🇺❤️👏🏻✨
Cherie Lee stoked you’re enjoying them mate✌️
guys you missed the best beach of all kurrimine beach is much better than most check it out great fishing and diving
Justin & Bec...we love your videos. You've taught us a lot about Australia but my wife has a pressing question. The question is this, are you not concerned with the venomous snakes and spiders ?
Really look forward to your future video's. What a wonderful couple & family! You gotta love Australia-what an amazing country & people.
frank pinion thankyou
Have been hanging for your next installment thoroughly enjoyed watching.you guys are totally awesome cant wait for more frequent content.
love ya work stay safe and enjoy
p.s Bec you are gorgeous any time of the day.Mornings included :-)
Darrin Connors oh thankyou mate👍 Bec
Wow...what a great video. We lived and explored North QLD for 2 years or so and explored 20 waterfalls...gosh there is a couple that I missed. Hoping to get back to Carins end of next year, but I need to leave north-west of Western Australia first. :-)
We do live in a beautiful country...thanks for sharing your life to the public.
Totally agree beer has to be drunk from a glass 👍
@MrBuckaroonie ...on trips I always take my favourite beer glass, I personally think the glass is better for the senses...but yes agree if I don't have a glass straight out of a can or stubbie will do 👍
Josephine falls and Babinda George are both beautiful and dangerous. I've seen them both become rapids in minutes. Many tourists and locals drown there every year. Beautiful places to swim. Ross n lock now has salt water crocodiles so be aware.
How spoilt ,and probably worldly are your kids. They are loving the lifestyle. Will be interesting when it has to stop. Nice work guys. Making me jealous
party pies, sorry Bec, always wanna side with you but nibble pie????
Sew Spin Knit 😂😂😂😂
Party pie 100%
Clinton Thompson 💪💪💪
Etty Bay in the enclosure on a blood red moon.....amazing! Love this place 😍
Hello Justin, Bec and Kids, My Husband and I just love your video's. We have done some travelling around Oz in a off road camper trailer, but have just purchased a brand new caravan and on your recommendation we have brought the Enerdrive system. We thank you for posting the information about this system as we really understand what it can do. (I know it is expensive $$$$$) but I'm sure we will get our monies worth. We get our Supreme Caravan in late October 2020 and hopefully we might see you on the road and have a beer/wine/vodka together. Cheers Fay and Dale
What happened with the ute? New engine or just a head?

Albert Kelly cheers mate, stoked you enjoyed it!!
great video and reminds me of our trips along the far north Queensland coast over the past 2 years.. some awesome free camps, National Parks and Caravan parks.. Etty Bay was a favourite spot for us too... no Barramundi but plenty of other fish from the rocks there..
Great vid. I live in Mission Beach, you've been to all my favourite haunts! Lucky kids 💚💚💚
Private cheers
Nice to see you guys visit North Qld, i grew up in cardwell and used to swim at Murray falls but Cardwell actually has some of the best swimming holes in the North!

Looking forward for your next 2020 adventures...
Keep it up..
Party pie Bec! Even in cairns haha
haha
Another awesome episode! Gotta love FNQ & how amazing is it to witness a cane burn; we got to see one in Mossman a good few years back (we're southerners) so was blown away & that caramelised smell in the air was enough to bring on some serious sugar cravings! LOL!
Keep living the dream!
From a wet and extremely wind swept UK, I would just like to say that you guys really do enjoy rubbing it in! Many thanks.
Nibble pie??? Doesn’t matter what you call a Party pie it will always be a Party pie.
Great video guys! I was born and grew up in Innisfail and you guys did the area and FNQ region justice!
Its a party pie
I totally agree mate!! Cheers

Keep an eyeball out when parking under them !! Otherwise you'll have plenty of unwanted guests !!
CRAIG SUTHERLAND true!! Didn’t think of that, good tip
Called in to Ettey Bay a couple of times,
camp ground chockers and a howling sow easterly blowing straight in.
November looks the month to go.
Gary I think we got very lucky
I was waiting for you to start singing Working Class Man in front of the sugar cane fire 👍🍻👍
Thanks guys. I’m a Cairns local but still trying to get to all the spots you featured. Now you’ve inspired me to book in at Russell River NP, we got campsite 3 as well. Look out Easter 2020.
Jessica Sullivan awesome spot, enjoy✌️
Hey crew, something about this video made it feel like watching the best one to date, don't know if it was the content, editing, vibe, length... Maybe it was all of the above 😁 can't wait to see what 2020 brings.
Sj from tassie
MrSpazra23 oh thanks mate!!! It was a fun trip
@@TripInAVan if you guys come to south Eastern Tasmania, I'll make sure this missus and I have the fridge stocked and I might even be able to organise a fishing charter on my mates boat... Doesn't matter what state of mind I was in before watching your videos, after watching them I always feel great. Smiles for miles
MrSpazra23 that’s so awesome to hear mate! Cheers for the offer💪
Hey guys, love your videos! I'm planning on doing Perth to Broome in a campervan (have lived on east coast but never done WA) and have an online business. I was just wondering what you guys suggest in terms of an internet connection when travelling that route, I get the impression its all pretty remote. Do you just have to wait until you get somewhere with mobile reception and hotspot it? Thanks, James
Matchfit Conditioning cheers mate, stoked your loving the vids! Yep, we just have Telstra mobile and just hotspot off our phones for internet. We do have A Cel Fi go as well which is a mobile signal booster 👌
@@TripInAVan awesome thanks for the response and safe travels! 👍🏻😃
Great Vid. Do you think you could go through some of the camera gear you use and how you get such fantastic footage!
For sure mate, I'll do one this year.

Fantastic. Brings back some memories from a trip past. It does not seem too much different from 1986 👍😊 except the beer was cheaper and less fencing. Also, the party pies seemed bigger 😂
