I know I'm a bit late to the party here, but thanks a lot for showing off all these bits. I was looking all over the internet for good references on this bergen for my own little sewing project, and you've just made it a whole new level easier. Thanks a lot, and cheers mate!
Just purchased a second hand real lowe alpine saracen and im so happy to own it,,,wanted the bag for so long, very glad that i could purchase a real one, they arent around any more, only the brand arwy, same bag
Hi there. As mentioned in the intro please refer to the specifications as well as the presentation. Amongst all its other features it mentions: * Two compartment body * Hydration pocket and covered tube slot Hope that helps? Andy
Overall a great bergen, even the molle webbing and straps are camo painted, great attention for the details, not like other packs where the straps + molle are just olive green color.
The Lowe Saracen has a internal pouch for a camelbak. It has also a hole in it for your hose to get outside. I have it myself! It is a great piece of equipment.
The Irish DF has the Saracen on General Issue.. Excellent pack, very comfortable with heavy loads over long Tabs. We don't have the Molle on the Front though.
@RVOps Is RVops going to replace the Saracen with some other high capacity bergen? Here's a few suggestions: Berghaus crusader (new 2011 model) Savotta modular frame rucksack or LJK rucksack (Finland) Norrona recon pack or Para ranger (Norway) Tasmanian tiger field pack or Range pack (Germany) Cheers.
As fair as I know, only the DPM has molle. The olive drab one doesn't have them. Also it seems the Saracen DPM is the olive drab version with suggestions from the Dutch Forces
@YourinitNow777 @jpenna1976 The last couple of years the Lowe Alpine Saracen has only been set into production if ordered in large amounts!...... meaning..... if the Military need more of them!!! (or if you are a multi-millionaire, you order 1.000 rucksacks, keep 1, and sell the rest to all the civilians who also want one!!! ;-) ... So if you want one, the best odds to get one at the moment, is if you can find someone who has one and wants to sell it! ... That's how I got mine!
What is the problem with Lowe Alpine? I have been looking for places that sell Sting and Saracen, but no-one has them. Sold out or whole manufacturer is missing from websites. I ended up buying a Dutch surplus Sting, because I couldnt find new ones anywhere.
Is it somehow possible to find these ruck sags somewhere? I know Lowe Alpine don't make them anymore, but do you have any in stock? When I was trough selection for a special forces unit, we were given a Lowe Alpine ruck sag through out the selection and I miss this ruck sag. Is there another "new" Lowe Alpine military rug sack or something similar? Amazes me they haven't made an "update", the same way they did with commando to saracen.
yes there is what i call a copy and its the "Tacgear CALW GEN II" www.tacgear.de/produkte/back-pack_typ1_calw_v2.php Saracen is the best, but now i use the calw II and its holding up ok now on its 7 year and no problems.

I'm trying to decide between this and the Berghaus Vulcan II... Can anyone give me a quick rundown on the pros and cons of both? I'll keep looking at reviews, hard choice though~
Hi was lucky enough to get one second hand. Is there a difference in quality between the civvy version with lowe saracen writen on the back & the army version with no writing ? Thanks

this bergen is standard issued in the dutch army for airmanouvre brigade, the marines and the special forces

Just a quick point. As far as we are aware Lowe Alpine dont manufacture the Lowe Alpine Saracen anymore...
Hi There, if your asking whether the MOD issue this particular Bergen, they dont...
Thanks for question.
Regards
Andy
Looks awesome. Similar to the CFP90
However the Camelbak Storm will not fit inside the pouch. I haven't tried it without it's cover and only use the waterbag it self.
I like your garmin forerunner
can i compress my sleeping bad in the bothem ? i think its supose too do
Nice review! I like Lowe Alpine!
very nice review!
are there any pocket inside for hydration?
are the sleeping bag compartment separated from the main compartment?
Long time ago. But you would t happen to know the weight of the lowe alpine saracen??

What color or pattern are these gonna be when they're in stock? Any chance of simple OD in addition to woodland camo?
So what are those "eye sack holders" at the 1:50? I have wondered alot what those loops are for.

Do you know longer have the Saracen for sale?
The Lowe Alpine Saracen has enough carrying capacity for most. Do you have to be in the military? Absolutely not, anyone can order from the site :-)
BTW, Excellent Review! :>
