I was actually at the park the day the brakes didn't engage on the sea dragon in 2023. I was done swimming and was about to return to WOF when I heard one employee ask another about a delay in some kind of changeover. That second employee explained about dealing with people on the SD stuck swinging because the brakes weren't engaging, and children were upset. I didn't run into anybody who was terribly upset about it, but 20 minutes is a while to be stuck with that motion. Kids can start to get nauseous. And sometimes it's a kid's 1st time, and they already didn't like it. For anybody unfamiliar with the ride, the Sea Dragon is just a viking boat that swings back and forth. That's the whole ride. You experience low G's as you get high, and float a little bit. A little bit of wind, pressure off your knees and back, it's relaxing. The brake system on the sea dragon is basically a piece of car suspension. Same idea. It does involve a literal car tire that's raised and has friction with the bottom of the boat. With every pass, the boat slows down and swings lower.
I hope they get their crap together cuz one of these times I would like to go back to worlds of fun it's been a few yrs since last went. With the Mamba breaking down or whatever the prob. Was not surprising I remember the first yr it was running I was thinking about going on it but it stopped on the hill 6 times that day I was like nope I'm good and which that was fine cuz it was way too high for me LOL
I live in Ohio near one of Cedar Fairs flagship parks and even they are having major issues with rides this year. Top Thrill 2 was open for 6 days before being closed for months now and every time I go there I end up in line for a ride that breaks down. Plus there are restaurants that I don’t think have been open all year. I assume due to staffing
It’s depressing to see this park go down the drain The cabins and cottages are absolute trash. All the bathrooms are disgusting. All the rides are rigid and rundown. None of the food and the beverages stands are ever open or you’re waiting an hour to get food in line. It’s sad to see….. They should definitely get better employees that actually care about making this park a memorable fun experience for families because currently they treat their employees like trash and that’s why nobody ever comes to work….
Cedar Fairs needs to either sell off WoF/OoF or sell of their company as a whole. They have absolutely destroyed the quality of their parks. As a former employee, it's terrible to see the place go so downhill!
why i decided 2022 was MY last season there. i dont think theyve improved anything over the years. still buying cheap crappy rides they KNOW are gonna keep breaking down, staffing issues cause no one wants to work anymore and no one there cares about their jobs anyway. my second season there was 2000, went back 14 years later, nothing had changed

I grew up going to this park and it has been riddled with problems for decades. None of this surprises me at all.

Yeah, the sea dragon been having problems for some years and another ride. I almost lost my life on.
What the hell man. I rode the sea dragon twice with my kid a few days ago!

Better employees means paying livable wages.
