Thanks for this video. The second bulb (Dollarama) is the same format that is sold at Costco at 4 for $19.95 (I think). My wife brought this to my attention and seems like a better option to candles, oil lamps, etc. While their charge might not last long, you may plug the lamp into a generator or inverter and charge it that way during a power outage. I'm seriously thinking of buying these at Costco. I just recently purchased (currently in shipment) 2 pure sine wave inverters to be connected to my vehicles for emergency power. I consider this a more cost effective (read "cheaper") solution rather than spend hundreds up front on a generator and just have it sitting somewhere, taking up space and having to maintain it.

I've considered the same (using vehicle for backup power), except charging a power station with it so it doesn't have to run all the time.

I picked up an Ecoflow during Prime Day and started to get a few things to compliment it for power outages. I was expecting the learning curve of buying LiFePO4 batteries and solar connectors and 12v refrigerators etc. But I thought these ubiquitous looking bulbs would be an easy purchase with little research to do on what to get. lmao this is definitely a rabbit hole i wasn't expecting. Truth is there is very little research out there on this and I wish this video was up back in July. Most videos on this subject weren't really comparisons, but rather they were like "hey I picked these up on Amazon and they're pretty neat-o"

    "No way of recharging..."
Except that you actually do have a way.

    "Access to electricity..."
    * Access to MAINS electricity. (Batteries give you access to electricity.)

The emergency bulb will still go on and off with the switch. When the switch is off there is no other source that can complete the circuit for the bulb. It's handy. My only complaint is when I get up in the morning I simply don't realize there is no power until I am up dressed and out of my bedroom.

Of course the light bulb is a light. They all are!
