    With the pit stains, I usually avoid shirts with that, but I had a long sleeve an Ed Hardy Long sleeve tee which was my introduction to the brand I knew it was something when I saw the tag on the rack. It sold fast for 48 bucks even with the white pit stains on a black tee. The other was a good will bins find of a Supreme t shirt. It was even a small, but still sold for 25 bucks with the bad pit stains on a gray tee. You just have to know what you've got when it comes to defects. I had a vintage KISS T shirt that was in bad condition that still sold for 90 bucks.

    I love all the comments about high prices, LOL! Why do you all think thrift stores have raised their prices? Resellers! LOL! 20+ years ago, before eBay was big and there was no Etsy, thrift stores were always super cheap, what is driving up prices is resellers! Thrift stores have realized they are missing out, just like you are practicing capitalism, buying low and selling high, in a free market they too are allowed to raise their prices. So when I see resellers complaining about the prices at their local thrift shops, I just want them to go stand in front of a mirror and tell themselves, "You're the problem", LOL! Don't be blaming the non-for profit thrift store that proceeds benefit a charity usually. We have a Hospice thrift store, that 100% of the profits go to a local hospice care, I watched a lady, an Etsy Housewife, chew out a lady (who are all volunteer's in this store) working in the shop over the price of some Pyrex bowls. I am always surprised by the high road resellers believe they have, she actually said to the lady "How can I resell these and make anything at these prices"! LOL! News flash, they aren't there for resellers! Hahahah!

    I need to take this more seriously…. I barely resell part time, if that, and I really want to step it up. I know how to source and what items to look for, but one issue I’m running into (which is a good issue) is I find stuff that I flip for “bigger” profit, but doesn’t really have a great sell through rate. My numbers are decent for my eBay account. I’m at $2700 for my 90 day total with 40 items sold. I just sometimes don’t have the energy to do all the picture taking and listing aspects. I (obviously) love sourcing and packing up my items than taking pics and listing.
    I guess what I’m trying to get out, when did you take that step to make this your full time job? Because it’s your business, but was there anything you did to “better” yourself before starting this journey?

    • @TaylorExchange
      @TaylorExchange  8 місяців тому +1

      I have some content in this topic.
      I resold part time from Sept 2019-June 2021. I had been making about 30k a year before quitting my full time job.

      @@TaylorExchange awesome. I’ll check them out and I appreciate the fast response. I have a part time job just working on the weekends (it’s not a bad job), but I’m wanting to quit because of how far the drive is for me from my house.
      I do better waiting for new racks at the Goodwill I always visit rather than going through the old inventory, because I know people have already went through it and I feel like it’s a waste of time. There are a bunch of resellers in my area, so competition is crazy. But there are a lot of items people look past, because most of them are looking for the generic items to resell.

      Things have definitely changed and by all indications, not for the better. It’s become way more frustrating & challenging!! One bright spot is, thank God we have so much untapped/ unlisted, all-sunk-cost inventory to “source” from right here on the premises. I don’t have to buy another thing for a long, long time if I chose to do so.
      That, and I’ve been developing a good relationship w/ a great part-time reseller buddy. He’s been finding me bolos and solid bread-and-butter while he’s out sourcing for himself. And in exchange I pass along to him hard goods like power washers, weed-wackers, big flat screens, and vacs.. like dysons, kirbys, and sharks that I’ve “curb sourced” right here in my subdivision. Or pay him what he paid for it.
      I’m constantly amazed.. he has as good an eye & knowledge base as I do. But. He has this.. I swear, a golden glory cloud following him around that hovers over him everywhere he sources. All at the same stores! The stuff he finds - every freaking time, every single day is off the charts. Thankfully he only cherry picks the sports jerseys, leather Harley jackets, Jordan’s & other big $$ ASP footwear (and out-and-out grails), but I get all the rest.

    Some people are self-conscious to begin with and they take it personally if you try to help them. Rather than excepting help and being appreciative, they feel like you’re saying that they can’t do their job. They’re not doing their job. Or some people are just smart asses and like to be rude. Some of that could come from her working with the public all day. We know some of them can be rude. I always say don’t work with the public if you can’t deal with their garbage. That’s why I don’t work with the public.!!
