I fully agree on being a good customer. I go to a specific Salvation Army and really like how big it is. I tend to pull the empty hangers because they really annoy me and it isn't fair. Well one of the employees noticed and gave me more of a discount for helping them. Each time I went in they would remember me. You would be surprised how helping others will end up helping you.
#8 hit home for me. I too have an addictive personality and boy let me tell you, all I want to do is source. Thank you for calling me out, 😉 I work a full time job, have a husband, 3 grandbabies, and an 81 year old mom that I need to put first.
Thank you Becky. I would like to add the death pile problem. I shop more than I list. I went through an extreme tragedy and the thrift store was my only therapy. You are awesome!!
yes, I just told her I have like 20+ totes of clothes and housewares, alot of good nice clothes but the listing is overwhelming... So, I have stopped going to Thrift stores to buy to resell... it is really hard... I have slipped a few times. but when I do go, I limit myself to 20.00 and buy mostly for myself or the house. when I do sell things, I take them money out of the bank and put in an envelope to spend for personal things ie haircut, makeup and some I use to buy and resell.
#8 really resonated with me. I waa gulity of that and ended up burning out in about 3 years! I would be up till 3 or 4:00am listing and taking photos. Learned a hard lesson. Just started back about 4 months ago with four items and adding more each week, very reasonably. Thank you Becky for being truthful about reselling.
Becky is SOOO rite! Everyone watching GIVE YOURSELF GRACE!! You WILL make mistakes but remember even the pros make those same mistakes after doing this 5 years longer than you! Also, Just Do IT! If you want to start just start. The amount of help to get you through and get you going had never been more available! The programs and software that are there to help you along the way are amazing and slowly you'll go from one platform to all of them in a few weeks.
Thank you so much for this. I an a new bookseller, not clothing, but I find your information about reselling, your attitude to your business and your life, so much fun. The one thing that I am going to start right now is good bookkeeping.
I am a retired librarian. My passion is fantasy/sci fi, but I sell what we have in the house. Hubs is an anthropologist who has lost his vision, so I am selling off what we have. But shopping is so much fun I can't seem to sray out of resell stores. Have even found a Kate Spade purse and one from Dooney and Burke, which brought me over $100 together. It's sn addiction. And I love it
That re-used mall sounds like an amazing idea for an unused building!!! I wish more places would do that. I was just talking to a friend about how many low-income apartments that could fit inside of one if they would remodel it! Ours however as the mall shops close is going to eventually be bought by the Casino that already got the first half of the mall.
There is SO MUCH mall space that just sits deserted in America. It is interesting to see what's becoming of all those spaces. But yes - there is so much potential to do some really cool things with that space...I'm going to have to dwell on that...haha
@@beckyparkco I love seeing those things. I'm in an area of Pennsylvania that had TONS of old buildings full of mold and led and asbestos. rather than remodeling them making them safe they tear them down and release all those toxins in the air for the local public to enjoy. I also have lived in so many areas with people who have very little and to see waisted space used for casinos and gas stations Walmart's, even more new builds, people around here could never afford the houses they're building. It pushes the hard-working locals out and brings in people who don't always treat those people very well. Eventually, then they don't really know where to go or have an affordable place and the world as a whole wonder why the homeless population is growing rapidly.
It's an altruistic thought, but commercial and industrial buildings like malls aren't cost-effective for remodeling into low-income apartments. The plumbing & HVAC runs alone, and each unit needing access to fresh air via operable individual windows, are HUGE expenses. There can also be zoning issues & green space requirements
Becky you are right. That is how I feel. I have everything to start and the fear that I might not know everything stops me. I tried to subscribe but there is no subscribe button. I have already done tons of research for a whole year. I am just gonna do it.

Becky you inspired me to start on EBay two months ago. I started on Mercari in January of 2022, was pretty successful selling things from around the house and clothes my kids outgrew. With the fee changes my sales dwindled down to 1-2 a month. eBay felt overwhelming and the first listing did take at least 30min, but I’m so glad I started there. 2 months in I still mostly feel like I don’t know what I’m doing but I’m so glad I tried a new platform. December was a success for a beginner like me. Thanks for the inspiration and for being real. I appreciate when you share French fry money profit along with high dollar sales.
Omg yassss. I still remember listing my first listing on eBay. It took me SO LONG. I remember my first eBay sale too and trying to figure out the shipping. It took FOREVER, but I’m so glad I got through that hurdle, because it’s pretty great on the other side!
Really enjoyed this video. My biggest goal is using the profits from eBay to cut down my school/credit debt. My final step (i think) before doing my first listing is opening a po box for the returns. I've got a lot around the house as well as stuff im catching for cheap ready to go. Really excited to get it going. Gotta make it work cus only netting less than $700 a month from work will never get me out the house.
I did exactly what you say Becky! I was so afraid to start but back in October I did, I just started and YOU were a great help ❤️. I’m in Canada, the market is much much smaller and more expensive but I make a little side hustle for my family. It was a rough start because the Post went on strike for 6 weeks straight right before Christmas. But I didn’t give up and I’ve made a profit of $800 so far. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot but it’s something, and that was with a country wide postal strike ! I love you and your chanel. Bless you. - Camille
Great tips . Thank you for this video . I have always been one of those customers that picks up items from the floor and put them in their place . I have actually been thanked by employees who have noticed me doing that . ❤
Love the video. I am getting started - was planning massive clothing cleaning out to minimize myself and my girls closets and also out of work due to medical issues. We have so much stuff never worn or in great condition… have been wanting to get into resell and hoping to use it as my learning lessons. 😅 I definitely was getting bogged down in “research” trying to get started and getting overwhelmed. Just getting started I needed to hear.
great video - i have a huge, I mean huge (20 totes) of some good clothes, some nice but not name brand. I am wondering, if I should list a lot of clothes as a lot for cheap or I should I sell them at like 5-8 dollars and list like 10-20 items a day for a couple weeks. Right now, i have 150 items listed and I am selling a few items a month. So for 2025, My goal is to sell it least 10 items per week. of course it will take time... I want to have like 300-500 items listed by March
Thank you for this video! I also started in 2017 or so and I was making a nice profit - not enough to live on but enough to justify my thrifting addiction/hobby. I haven’t sold a single thing on Poshmark in a month, maybe one thing on eBay and none on mercari. I have a whole warehouse space filled with clothes and shoes that’s just sitting there and costing me money. I want to unload it all but can’t even think about how to do that in a way that won’t result in a huge loss. This is helpful and encouraging.
I have a lot of totes to-- but I couldn't justify having a storage bin.... IMO you would be better off selling really cheap and getting the cash and get rid of storage and then only buy and list things that will make $20.00 or more...I also thought about listing on FB Marketplace Clothes Lot for sale---- 30 items for 50.00 yes its only 2-3 dollars each item but then I can use that money to buy better products. just an idea
I would add also that we shouldn't take lowball offers personally. Respond appropriately and professionally. Don't let it anger you. It's part of doing business online.
Follow them on social media and see if they ever have sales. Or better yet, call them and ask! My local consignment store has a designer section-at some point, that stuff has to go on sale too. And when it does, I’ve gotten Tory Burch pieces for like $5!

Do you have an eBay shipping tutorial? How do you figure pricing on shipping !?
