- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- Wash'Up Café Laverie Cosy is an all-vegan concept café combined with a laundry facility in Paris, France. All the usual café classics are served - coffees, teas, fresh salads, viennoiseries, desserts and one daily plate. The food is home made, vegan and most ingredients are organic. Visitors have a large comfortable space to work, eat and relax while they wait for their laundry.

COVID-19 is causing retail rents to go down, creating a high level of vacancy. Lower average retail rent will create new opportunities for businesses in New York City which did not exist previously. Mixed use concepts like this café from Paris may make their way to New York City as landlords explore new opportunities to ensure that businesses owned by their new tenants remain profitable under current social conditions.

There goes Alan again, crushing it with making real estate interesting!
Sure beats sitting around a dingy laundromat. Have something to eat, sit comfortably, and bring a laptop and get some work done while you wait on the laundry.
Keep doing these types of videos documenting unique business concepts while you are travelling outside the USA. It really shows the stark difference between what is currently possible in major cities of other countries versus what is currently not financially possible back here in the USA's major cities due to current rent prices for commercial property.
Once the rents drop for retail space in New York City and elsewhere we will see different types of businesses occupy the ground floor. More offices, niche service businesses and fulfillment centers will start to occupy these spaces.
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
I’m surprised.
It’s the sort of idea that, well, as you note, it surprising, but makes perfect sense!
There is a place called Laundry & Lattes on Dufferin street in Toronto for some years now. Haven't been there for quite long time but it looks like it's a growing concept.
We've had laundromat bars and laundromat karaoke bars in our area for a while now. It seems you could successfully pair many types of businesses with laundromats.
Yup. Anything to help pass the time.
Everyone gangsta until somebody dropped the cake on their clean laundry. But really, I want to try this out.
Good way to get repeat washing business!
Viva la France! Nice idea! 💡Congratulations on 20K subscribers ! 😊👍💃🎊🎂🍀🎁🎯
Hello Alan, welcome to France, enjoy your stay!
This was a really interesting video - felt like a newspiece ;)
nice discovery and video
Merci beaucoup de nous présenter cet endroit. Quelle bonne idée!
Thank you very much for showing this place. What a nice idea!
We have these in Virginia. They aren’t as nice, kinda like small fried chicken shops with a fryer and counter with warming
lights.
In Germany we have cafés that sell delicious vegan cake and wonderful vegetarian ice cream. (Try cucumber wasabi- no joke! It's the best!). The café has board games and books, sitting spaces for community meetings etc.
Profit all year round.
Even actual New Yorkers fall for the Manhattan is New York City trope.
Long ago, and far away, I ran across an eating establishment that catered to the table boarder trade, with a coin laundromat next to it. Part of the deal for table boarders was 50% off on the laundry, and complementary tea whilst using the laundromat. Both establishments were very highly rated by non-table boarders.
You have family in France?
Welcome to the world's best country! 😋
God job laundry room and cafe
Wow so creative! I love the decor and layout. Wishing them to have a long and successful business. If it catches on they need to franchise out so their ideas are not stolen... OOPs this is the Internet to_o late :-) Thank you for featuring their business.
Stories like this are what make your channel unique & interesting even to people that aren't involved in real estate professionally. I don't know if it's a totally new concept but it's the first I've heard of it. Thanks!
Such a wonderful idea . Thanks 🙏 for your good contain . I am gonna thinking 🤔 about this business.
This time watching from kathmandu Nepal 🇳🇵
Bienvenue à Paris, Alain !
That's a genuinely brilliant idea.
What a great concept! Thanks for showing it to us!
This is great - thanks for sharing!
I don't know if this is a new concept. We had one of those when I lived in Upstate NY. Ended up being my favorite hangout spot actually, you were only supposed to loiter in there if you were doing laundry but I was friends with the attendant there and also would help random customers use the machines if he was busy.
Wow, I almost wish I were there. Thanks for sharing this.
really cool video! I want to echo what the others say that this is really interesting content. the other stuff is good too, but this.. I wanted to keep learning more
Glad you enjoyed this content!! There will be future videos regarding unusual and innovative retail and office concepts.
@@MetroManhattanOfficeSpace I love this kind of videos!
Welcome to Europe, Alan. Enjoy your stay.
very interesting idea!
I saw this in San Francisco 10 years ago.
That's a good idea
this is cool
keep it coming alan
The concept of mixed use facilities has been employed in the US for years. Most frequently found in college towns, thet are also found in more eclectic cities like New Orleans. The link is for an article regarding this from the Big Easy.

It closed in December of 2020. Too bad. It was an awesome idea.
Woah, pretty wierd and interesting concept...especialy for traveling/buisnis/tourist(kinda) people
This is sick!
"Rossmann Laundry and Apple Lunch": A great idea for a co-rental space! (3:23)
I don't think this model would work as well in Manhattan as a lot of buildings already have laundromats. Could be really great in brooklyn though
Very Interesting,Stay Safe Alan.
How did you travel to Europe? I thought travel from the US to Europe was banned.
Very interesting video. I live in Paris!
He has dual citizenship.
Maito are you speculating or did he say it
@@Standoff96 It's on the Metro Manhattan website
Maito great, thanks
Inventive !
THANKS!!
Does it smell like a bakery or laundromat?
why not both!
have a few in cincinnati suds and duds for one
This is so cool.
How on earth did you make it to Europe in the current situation?
Do you have the address ? Is it close to the main attractions?
Interesting.
will the building zones in the USA/NYC would they allow something like this?
Pfft there is a cafe in St Petersburg been for ever laundry and cheap drinks
I see Karen still doesnt like you videos :D
In New York you will just find a Cafe on the same block of the laundromat. No way this business will be successful in NY.
Ah, le frenche accent quand speaking English
I wouldn't want someone's dirty underpants going by me as I drank my coffee
This concept is far from new... been around since the 1980's in college towns.
$0 start
I love eating meat and when I eat minced meat I make sure it is pork and beef to make sure two animals were killed.
That audio needs to be fixed
1. That's not a new concept at all. I've even seen those in the States.
2. What the hell are you doing traveling during a pandemic? How did you even get into the Europe?
1. This concept apparently exist outside of New York, but I have not seen it. The implementation of this of this establishment was nicely done.
2. I am visiting family. I have dual EU/US citizenship and as a result and am able to travel internationally.
@@MetroManhattanOfficeSpace Just to get this straight:
Was there a very important family-related reason for you to come to Paris? (I am not asking for details)
Did you quarantine for 14 days after arriving?
If your answer to one of those questions is no, then you are part of the problem. We have had to give up a lot of civil liberties to get the epidemic under control. The situation in NYC right now is worse by an order of magnitude than in Europe.
@@MetroManhattanOfficeSpace The Karens are watching you, Alan!
@@TheMongooseOfDoom I'm sure Alan is much more responsible than we think. No need to make this about hating on other people for travelling internationally.
