  • This video will show you how to cook Chashu pork (Japanese Char siu) with Rice cooker!! I think this is the easiest Chushu recipe on the internet, but still tastes amazing!! Hope you give it a try!!

    -Pork shoulder (boneless) 1200g
    -Green onion 40g
    -Garlic 20g (as peeled)
    -Ginger 15g (as peeled)
    -Water 300ml
    -Kombu 4g (or 2g of MSG)
    -Soy sauce 100ml
    -Sake 1tbsp (15ml)
    -Mirin 1tbsp (15ml)
    -Sugar 1tbsp (15g)
    -Honey 25g

    ⭐️Tip
    This dish tastes great on the next day too. So Don't worry about making too much.
    You can use it for your lunch, or chop into small pieces, and cook stir fry or fried rice with it. And use the leftover sauce to replace soy sauce. It gives much better flavour than using plain soy sauce👍

      Mine is called Aritugu (有次).
      It's a local knife shop in Kyoto Japan, and I bought from there.
      So if you go to Kyoto, it would be interesting for you to check it out.
      They have a website, so you can google and see the detail😀

      @@rc0mplex I actually never had both of those😅 My other main knifes are from Misono UX 10 series with dimpled surface (which is available online)👀 These are one of the most common brand for Japanese real chefs👍 They are good stuff😎

      Haha. Yeah I bought it from Japanese Amazon when I went back to Japan last year😎 But I found the same thing in here (Australian Amazon) too. So you might have a chance to get a same thing if you want it 😉👍
      It's cool stuff. I love the package art of Gunpla, but collecting those kills my space. So this book perfectly solve the problem😎 I can see all the package art anytime in my hand🤣

    This looks like a good recipe. However I only have one rice cooker and want to use it to make rice to eat with the chashu. How do I make it in a slow cooker or pressure cooker?

      Make your rice ahead of time.

      I think so!! I don't know much about slow cooker, but as long as the pork is cooked for about 1 hour or so, should be fine😉👍

      Try to check your local butcher😀
      As long as they sell pork, I suppose they sell shoulder too, cuz there's no point they waste those isn't it?👍

      You can cook on “quick mode” if yours have one!! If not, just cook as normal👍😄

    My rice cooker is a pressure cooker (Zoujirushi brand), i wonder whether that will be an issue with this recipe... I guess i'll just have to try and see what happens.

      If it's a pressure cooker, the chicken might be ended up too soft, but if it has a kind of function of "cooking rice mode", should be fine👍 Good luck!!😎

      @@CHEFSLABO it is a rice cooker, it's just that it uses hightened pressure. Apparently that makes the rice flufffier

    I guess the only thing I’d do differently is sear the pork pieces and then scraping the fond and adding it back into the cooker. Then again, at that point it would no longer be a NO COOKING recipe.

      Yeah that sort of thing was actually my struggle to develop recipes these days👀
      There are infinite ways of cooking things better by adding more effort to it. But unlike during the pandemic, people seem not to be willing to spend lot of time on their cooking.
      So I'm always trying to find the sweet spot of taste and efficiency👀
      It's becoming trickier and trickier to keep being a creator😅

      You can probably use a slow cooker😉
      Or normal pot (But you might need to cook a bit longer. So check the meat as you go )👍
