Dude! You need to put up videos more often. Ur one of the most interesting people that puts up repair videos regularly :) I follow quite a few repair channels but gonna stop since quite a few of them only swap out broken ports ^^
Amazing persistent paid off and you did yourself proud here. The Cod3r did similar repairs in past videos when the going got tough with fault findings and he had success too by changing South bridge, WiFi module and the SD controller as an educated guess by drawing on his invaluable experience with so many Ps5 repairs. Thank you for sharing.
Had similar NO POWER ONE BEEP PS5 came in today. It hung on 150mA from bench supply. Turned out it was one of the cap on DA9081 2.5v LINE short to ground closed to cxd90062. Thank you for the great vid giving some tips on the standby current draws
Super work, your repair knowledge and persistence means very few of these will escape being unrepaired. I know as soon as I see a notification of a video from you that I'm going to enjoy the journey, whatever the outcome.
18:27 that's soo smart. I love the way that, despite some guessing was involved because of the difficulty of the problem, you always find a way to find a pattern to be able to diagnose it later on. Great job. That one was really though. Thank you as always for these great videos.
Super informative, couldn't find any other video that should you what to components to test with a multi-meter, I'm learning from your work so i can fix my PS5.
Measuring current draw for an individual board subsystem at the fuse location is genius. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a table per board revision that shows power-on and runtime current readings for each fuse location…?! 🧐 If those fuses weren’t 0Ihm, but a small resistance, one could measure voltage drop and calculate draw without the need to lift. Awesome work, as usual. 👏
I am learning from your Work. May I know after replace SSD chip no need install the system by USB or some else can go into main page directly? Thanks from Hong Kong !
I got a little question. How do you manage to measuring the current draw in both boards in the fuses? I would like to see how do you measure. Im assuming Im having the same problem.
I remove the fuse and place my meter in DC Current mode in place of the fuse. You will probably need to use the 10A setting as it has lower series resistance or "voltage burden" as it is called.
Thank you for all the info you provide. definitely points me a direction. I have a 020 board when i got the console unopened. it was drawing 170 mv so i replaced the ssd Controller. it now sits around 315mv for about 7-10 seconds and then bounces around in rest mode. 0-7mv. i have looked all over and can"t find anything. Thank you again for all your help
That sounds like a long time to hold at 315mA. It should only be like 2 seconds I think. You might make sure all the SSD rails are up. 0.8V, 1.2V, 2.5V
@toltecmerc I’m having the exact same problem where my ps5 produces a been when you press the power button but nothing starts up and the LED lights don’t light up either. Can I make a request to the service center to change the “SSD CONTROLLER” as you did to prevent them from taking too long to diagnose it?
Wait so I can check the initialisation of these boards with any bench power supply given that the voltage is set at 12V ?? Or is this feature only available with your bench power supply ?
I am merely monitoring the current draw from my bench supply. No special supply required. Just set for 12V and you need about 500mA capacity to watch it initialize. Monitor the amount of current drawn and for how long. You can compare to a working board to get an idea if a board is working normally.
Dang... My PS5 is doing the same thing but I don't have the know-how to do all that. Plus I live in a small town, so nobody around to do it either. It was 2 weeks out of warranty when it died, so I guess I'll hold on to it until I find somebody to look at the MB like this. Thanks for the video... at least now I know it's not something simple I could change out myself. lol
Great Video as always!!! Thank you so much for that.. I do have 2 ps5s that has same issue, it beeps but it's not turning on, no lights or nothing at all. that would interesting if I could somehow to send them to you. please let me know how can I do it, or how it works. thank you
Question I got a ps5 that was given to me with the disc drive removed. I was told even without the drive it should power on but it only beeps once and wont power on.
If you do this enough times you'll able to identify the dead component simply by watching the initialization current draw. 250-something ma = SSD controller not reporting for duty!
Hey thanks for the videos, I am currently having a Similar issue, my ps5 just froze mid fallout 4 and I had to unplug it because nothing else would function (controller, console buttons), when I attempted to turn it back on, it would beep once and nothing else. if I can’t fix it can I send it to you. Thanks for the info you provided.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like the content! Yeah, port swaps are kind of boring.
Same feeling here, especially those with loud music in background but boring port work.

AMAZING WORK as always.
tbh I feel like my UA-cam feed is empty without your content.
That's very kind of you. Thanks!
Absolutely informative and very much appreciated your work , always fascinating to see electronic back to life
Thanks so much! It is very satisfying!
Excellent job as usual good thing you had that working board to compare notes, always a pleasure to watch these videos.
Thank you! Yes a working board is the next best thing to a schematic.
Super informative, couldn't find any other video that should you what to components to test with a multi-meter, I'm learning from your work so i can fix my PS5.
You are welcome!
Nice one. I love your persistence and dedication.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I don't like to give up, especially if I think I'm close.
Man that’s amazing work! 🙏🏽 Thanks again! This was like watching a thriller movie!
Thank You! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll try to make more this summer when I have more time off.

True. I should probably do that but I think that's why I keep working boards nearby. I can always check as needed. Thanks for stopping by!
Excellent work as always. Thank You so much.
Thank you for watching and commenting! It makes it all worth while!
Perseverance and Patience win the day again! Great Repair and Video! Thank You. 😀
Thank you! We got there eventually!
Your electronics knowledge is next level, awesome work
Thanks so much! You're too kind!
Thank you, I had the same problem, I was replacing the bridge, programming the batch and I found your channel - you helped 💪
Im learning and learning from your Work. Thanks again
That's good to hear. I'm not really a teacher but I try to explain what I'm doing and thinking.
Man. I was just looking at your channel for a new vid!
Well your are in luck!
Great work I have 3 ps5 with power issues already checked power supply .if i send u will you able to fix them I will pay you .
As always another quality repair.
Thanks a lot! I do appreciate it!
Another awesome video, i had the same problem but with a shorted blue tooth module. Thanks
Thanks! I have had a bad WIFI/BT module that wasn't shorted and shorted caps at the WIFI/BT.
Great job hunting down that problem down, i might learn something yet
Thank you! I'm glad it was at least interesting.
congratulations excellent work thanks for sharing your knowledge
Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope to bring you more soon!
Masterful.. Great video!
Thanks so much!
Masterful, thanks for the info brother
Thanks so much booter! I do appreciate you stopping by and commenting!
Nice work man 💯💯
Thank You!
I am learning from your Work. May I know after replace SSD chip no need install the system by USB or some else can go into main page directly? Thanks from Hong Kong !
If you just replace the SSD controller, the system should start up normally.
Amazing work! 🙏🏽 Thanks your quick response!
Wow nice troubleshooting . Its good the ssd comtrollers are not married to the motherboard.
Yes it is! It's a big win for those of us trying to fix these things.

@@ToltecMerc Where do you applied the volts? im new I wanna know all those little tricks master.
@@lestermoreno9437 I am not applying voltage. I am letting the PCB supply the voltage. I merely monitor the current draw

How much heat and airflow use for SDD Controller
I tend to use a maximum of 400C at max airflow with no nozzle. Your hot air may vary.
Good job, this was stubborn!
Where can i purchase that preheater?
Probably AliExpress. The issue is the cost of shipping due to it's size and weight. I was lucky enough to find mine on eBay in the US.
Good job mate 👍
I'm glad you enjoyed! I am going to figure out the PS5 yet!
Bro the top of PS4 power supply that metal earth shield does it really need. Useing ps4 without it can damage the console? Cuh 1202a ps4 fat
It will work fine without it. It is only there to limit RF radiation coming out of the supply that might interfere with radio and television signals.
@@ToltecMerc Without useing it can be damage my ps4 ?
@@hasithadithya542 No it will not damage anything
How much does a repair like this cost?
How much for a repair like that?

How would one be lucky enough to send there ps5 too you for repair?
I'm sorry but I just work on consoles that I have bought to repair and resale. You might try here: repairlegion.com/repair
Apakah itu di ganti atau hanya di reball ?
Hard work eh? 😂 U did a nice job i wouldn't go that far 😂😂😂
Sometimes you just have to stay after it.

It should power on without the drive. It will never be able to update its software without the drive. It sounds like the main board has a problem.
@@ToltecMerc Thanks for the quick reply. Do you do repairs for your viewers?
If you do this enough times you'll able to identify the dead component simply by watching the initialization current draw.
250-something ma = SSD controller not reporting for duty!
That is the ultimate goal! To be able to have a pretty good idea from that initial current flow. 175mA for 25 seconds can be WIFI/BT.
I was waiting
I know. I've been a busy with my day job but hopefully more time soon.
❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
As i said nice work
Thank you very much sir! I'm still learning about these PS5s but I'm having a lot of fun doing it!

Did you get it fixed? If so, how?
damn, I've a PS5 for spares never opened with the same issues (beep no lights..). I'm already scared ;-)
Unless the APU is dead, I think they are all fixable.
