    hello!
I want to build an app with private profiles.
I create a field (yes/no). When the field is 'yes' the user profile is private, and all the data is protected.
But I cannot make the others user's fields private when the condition is true, because the 'everyone else' section of the privacy is always the same.
    How can I do it?

I'm just about to launch alpha testing on my app, so this video was SUPER helpful. I suppose one question I still have for bubble.io-based applications is "who owns the IP of my application"?

Nice, Steve! You own your IP and can monetize your app however you want

I love Bubble, thus far, and I've been loving coming to this channel first for learning for the 2 weeks that I've been learning Bubble.
That said, I'm disappointed that roles and maybe issues like server-side filtering of personal data vs client-side filtering wasn't mentioned at all, nor any other direct practical application in this video.
So many links were suggested in the video, but none (that I noticed) with practical follow up on how to take privacy matters into your own hands and potential major pitfalls to avoid.
The first half of this video I really liked - setting the groundwork of expectations for why you should lean on a No Code platform if you're not a programmer.
Much of the content that both of you have posted on this channel has felt so efficient and so informative that I was simply disappointed that when you transitioned to "what should you do about it?" You talked about being able to go to third parties for increased database data security but didn't touch on the super easy logical mistakes that we could make to offer up sensitive information and what steps we can take to competently do our part in not compromising the security of our app.
I could see maybe how this video was focused on database security concerns, but it still seems like a critical point - the likes of which I've come to expect from this channel.
Maybe that's my own fault to assessing your standards and making excessive assumptions.
In any case, thank you if you read this full comment.
I love the content that I've seen on this channel, I'm still a fan, and wish you guys the best in your efforts to provide free and paid services to app developers.

Interesting thoughts, Paul, and you're right that there's definitely a ton that can be covered in regard to privacy (far too much for a single video, as it also depends on needs!). This is an intro into how to understand security prior to choosing Bubble, building your app, etc, and the standards to know as you're getting started. We've found it's best to cover in-depth privacy/security needs on a direct basis. We wish you the best of luck, too, Paul!

What about ownership? Who owns the source code if I build webapp on bubble?

    • @coachingnocodeapps
      @coachingnocodeapps  3 роки тому

You own the data, bit you can't export source code. Check out our video on that! It'll be helpful for you

When someone you don't know can delete your app and delete your code, your app is 100% unsecure. Like UA-cam can delete your videos, Facebook delete your group ou your cloud service delete your pictures.

Hey Serge! I totally see what you're saying! We find it's helpful to think of things in the context of the bigger picture. UA-cam could delete our videos, for example, but not posting videos on UA-cam because of that would mean never being able to help thousands and thousands of people in the first place. Wordpress/Wix/Squarespace could delete everyone's site and close most of the internet, but for many people, never using a website builder at all because of that means never even starting their business in the first place (and supporting themselves, their families, etc). This is true in countless aspects of life - not just online. For many people, these platforms eliminate the barriers to entry that could otherwise prevent people from ever starting their businesses/spreading their message/helping their users in the first place. Using an app development platform is no different.

none of that sounds like security

I think your definitions of "secure" are different. And it looks like it comes down to trust. To program you have to choose to trust either Microsoft, Apple, of the Linux community or you literally have no tools to work with to participate in most of society's consumption of what you create. You trust whoever you buy food from to not cause you food poisoning due to incompetence or wishing you harm.
Whether you want to extend your circle of who you trust to include Bubble is up to you if it is worth saved time, preventing you from making mistakes in handling data security, and data storage, and even holding the only copy of your precious app in their care.
We all make these decisions. If the tradeoffs aren't worth it to you then you have the right to do what works for you.
If you have the time and other resources to handle all these issues without support from Bubble or something similar, then congrats! And enjoy having more full-control.
But for many people the trade offs of control in return for support is worth it.

Would you say AWS is unsafe because it can delete the databases on the cloud then? Not everyone can have their own local server. So, that's a tradeoff there.
