Craziest part about it is quai Gon gin is right at the end Anakin is the one who kills the empire and throws Sidious to the bottom of the death Star like a MF G "the noooooo just like when he learns about Padme" and finally brings peace to the galaxy 20 years later. I do not care if some people do not like the pre-qual they add so much to the star wars world. The other 3 with Rei kind of ruin the prequal and original by making Rei a Skywalker and making her the child of prophecy not Anakin.

Fun fact, during the training for this Ewan McGregor had to constantly be told to stop making lightsaber noises. He also broke more training sabers than any Star Wars actor before or since.

Yup, cast lists always spoil. Can't even approximate how many movies have I ruined for myself only because of decisions like: "let's see who else plays in this one".
The choreography was excellent. Gotta give a big hand to Ray Park who portrayed Darth Maul, really made the villain feel threatening and able to handle two Jedi at once.
Those twirling skills are hella impressive (I know, understatement of the millennium)
Ray Park is Darth maul for sure he is amazing
His voice was dubbed by the way.
Fun fact! Ray Park was also the fight choreographer for all of the fights alongside portraying Darth Maul!

So some clarification on when it is Padme as the Queen (Natalie Portman) and when it is Sabe (Kiera Knightley). Red dress with the lights in the beginning is Padme. Sabe takes over in the black dress for the entire trip from Naboo to Coruscant, including the entire time on Tatooine. Padme takes back over once they arrive on Coruscant in the white dress to prepare to speak to the Senate in the "jester" dress. Sabe then takes over for the trip back to Naboo in the black and red short dress and remains as the queen for the rest of the movie until the very last scene when Padme is again as the queen for the celebration. As some of the others have said, this was Kiera's first role and she looked so much like Natalie Portman when in makeup that both of their mothers were on set and couldn't tell the two girls apart. Sadly this is the only Star Wars film Kiera is in, shortly after this she would go on to start making the Pirates of the Caribbean films (the first Pirates film came out the year after the next Star Wars film did, Episode II).

At one point, I even thought that Padme was a servant all along, but at the end when she revealed herself as the queen, she was just lying and posed as the queen because she saw what had to be done better than the true queen xD

The music playing during the duel between Darth Maul and Qui-Gon is called Duel of the Fates, and it literally is a duel to decide Anakin's ultimate fate. Imagine if Qui-Gon had won and stayed alive to train him with his own philosophy. Regular Jedi training doesn't work properly since Anakin was found much later than is customary, thus he had more and stronger emotional ties to his mom.
The plot is extremely deep and intricate it's insane. I've been a fan for about 20 years and I still find new things to discover in the movies.
Fun fact about Jar-Jar Binks, your favorite character. He was so hated by adult fans that the actor was bullied into suicidal depression.
Maybe that fact isn't so fun. I liked Jar Jar. He was enthusiastic.

I wish people could go back in time and see this in theaters. It's a subtle difference, but I've noticed in this world of technology that reactors are watching in much higher definition, and it has the unfortunate effect of making CGI and green-screen elements much easier to spot. It looked flawless on the big screen though, and Lucas filmed these movies with digital cameras, so the colors were amazing. You definitely notice the color during the next film, that one really really pops.
Well, TPM was using actual film and AOTC and ROTS used digital cameras
Digital cameras didn’t archive the ability to reproduce the full color spectrum until Revenge of the Sith. If you look at the final battle in episode one, you can see how weak the colors are.
I saw this at the movies 5 times, yep I'm a nerd and i love this shit😀😁
It looked absolutely cutting edge on the big screen. Even on VHS I was floored by how good it looked. As technology gets better, it exposes more of those flaws.
It reminds me of when you watch an older show on a modern TV or play an old game on a modern tv. They weren’t made for that in mind so it ends up looking worse

Someone probably already mentioned it, but Keira and Natalie were both (quite) unknown at the time. So most people watching back then actually didn't notice the switch early on. Apparently even one of their mothers was confused when visiting the set and seeing them in costume and makeup
Welcome to the prequel trilogy! If someone hasn't already suggested this, I would highly suggest checking out the Clone Wars series after this trilogy Angelina!

Now granted, yes she has abandoned and stopped reacting to Long running series such as _The Walking Dead_ and _Arrow_ but I highly doubt she would abandon The Clone Wars series after the first 10-13 episodes if she starts reacting to the show
She has said she was moving away from doing series in general and sticking with movies.

Fun fact: The sets were only built to about head height and filled in with CG. When Liam Neeson was cast, he cost the studio an extra $250,000 because he's so much taller than the other actors (he's 6'4)!

Being in the movie theaters for this movie during the pod race was AWESOME!!!!!! It's almost like they pumped the bass up and you felt it as the pod racers flew by.

This trilogy is going to be so fun to watch
Someday I'm going to have to explain to my kids that there was a time when people would buy tickets to movies they didn't even want to see, just so they could go in, watch the new PHANTOM MENACE trailer, and then go home.
This Star Wars film (as divided it is for some) was my introduction to the Star Wars franchise and I don't care what the fans think of the Prequels, I enjoy them as much as the Original Star Wars Trilogy and also the Sequel Trilogy (as problematic as this series was.
There is no Sequel in Ba Sing Se.

The slide transition was originally first introduced by the great Akira Kurosawa. One of George Lucas' inspiration of making Star Wars was because of one of Kurosawa's film like The Hidden Fortress and such. I recommend you commentated Kurosawa's film. I suggest Stray Dog (1949), Seven Samurai (1954) and Yojimbo (1961). The word "Jedi" came from the Japanese word "Sengoku Jidai" (The Warring State period in Japan)
Fun fact: the song playing in the background at the ending ceremony is Darth Vaders theme in a different pitch.

I absolutely ADORE... the last 30 minutes of this movie. The last 30 minutes make the rest of the movie worth it, in my opinion. Usually, I let this movie play while I do chores or journal and then once it gets to the last half hour, I start paying attention.
Mauls actor, Ray Park, is a martial artist.
Liam Neeson is a trained sword fighter, and much of his skills were used for his lightsqber scenes.

Another fun Star Wars fact: The actor playing Darth Maul, Ray Park, found the creepy red-and-yellow contacts he had to wear in his eyes to be very uncomfortable. As a result, he barely blinked while shooting, which is why Maul keeps his eyes almost constantly open, staring intensely in all of his scenes.
Keep up the great edits/reactions! Can't wait to see you watch the rest of the skywalker saga. Everyone has their favourites and opinions, stemming alot from the order they watched them growing up. This is exactly why I love these commentaries. I saw Star Wars 1, 2 and 3 at the cinema, and apart from The Revenge Of The Sith, I thought that, although they were pretty good SFX-wise, they were childish and very contrived. However, watching your reactions to the new discoveries you're making, it's bringing back the moments that were truly emotion-stirring, and that I had forgotten existed.

I watched this in the theater back in 1999. I wish I could fully articulate how much hype there was going into this; the only recent comparison I can think of is Avengers Endgame. The visuals and sound design were absolutely incredible for the time. The story... not so much. But that lightsaber fight at the end is one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars.
