    my father's brother in the Royal Canadian Air Force was lost on a Lancaster, never to be found. We live near the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum near Toronto, which flies one of only two Lancs still flying - (C)VRA FM213. My father was alive to see its first flight and it was very emotional. I see the plane often and always think of my uncle and the others who failed to return from doing their duty. Bless them all for the life of freedom they gave us.

    My grandfather was a tail end Charlie in a Lancaster
    He got shot down in 1941all his crew escaped thankfully, but he never made it out and my mum was a baby and never knew her father.
    Thank you for keeping our glorious history alive.

    An incredible engineering achievement and tribute to the flyers that flew Lancs, taking the war to the enemy nearly 80 years ago. Of the 7,377 aircraft built, 3,736 were lost , over 3,200 in action. A great tribute to the design and the women and men that built them in Britain and Canada. I was a Lord's a number of years ago and had the honour of seeing 2 Lancasters fly over as a tribute to Bomber Command and the 55,000.that lost their lives. Amazing that 2 Lancs are still airworthy, and many more in taxiing State of preservation.

      I'm amazed that 'G' for George made over 90 missions. My father's cousin Roy was a bomb aimer and never made it back from his first mission. His Lancaster was shot down south-west of Stuttgart killing the entire crew. They now lie alongside each other in a war cemetery in southern Germany. Roy left a widow and two children under four years of age.

    I have been fortunate enough to see a genuine Lancaster flying over here in the UK a few times. It comes over Santa Pod drag strip on occasions and gives us all a wee display.

    Great plane. Needs 3 bladed props.

    • @tbobborap1
      @tbobborap1  Рік тому +1

      The reason most modelers only use two bladed props on their scale models is because most models only have a single cylinder two stroke engine in it and these engines simply do not produce any where Near enough power to turn a scale 3 or 4 bladed prop fast enough to get the model off the ground. That is why they are turning 2 blade props to suit the power output of the single cylinder engine, Don’t forget the real aircraft had V12 or 18 cylinder radial aero engines in them and the power to weight ratio is a lot different on a model aero engine - the bigger 250cc & 450cc (5 and 7 cylinders) radial engines can turn bigger 3 or 4 bladed props on them but they still might not be full scale props, and these big 3 or 4 blade props cost into the hundreds of pounds and if the model noses over the props are destroyed, imagine doing that 2 or 3 times over a weekend ! most people simply cannot afford such luxuries and resort to cheaper smaller models with cheaper smaller engines and props, Hope this info helps !
