I really love the lower quality videos, they give me more tingles than the higher quality ones (for some reason). But even now they're still fantastic.
Something to do with her voice as well. She has more of an accent in these videos whereas in the more recent ones you can clearly hear that she spent her life in the US as her accent sounds more American.
Me. I’m just finding the old stuff and love her tutorials. She’s very creative and I enjoy the instructional voice rather than the straight whispering. Of course. Supplies have improved since and you can draw with paint pens now!
I enjoy the fact that every sound made has a purpose, rather than just randomly tapping and scratching things. All well and good, but I find ASMR most powerful when it comes from ambient coincidental sounds, rather than those made for the purpose of triggering ASMR. You're showing us how to do something and it just so happens to put me to sleep. (in a good way) Thanks.
exactly 10 years ago today this video was posted, and I remember watching this right when it came out. I came back for the craft tutorial, and ended up watching it all the way through again! I couldn't click off I was so relaxed. still the best to this day
I used your directions for these again. I had to decorate the lobby of our high school auditorium for our winter concert and these worked perfectly. I actually printed Christmas song sheet music from the internet then cut the papers into 8x8 squares. I used 8 pieces to make the star and they turned out fantastic! Everyone thought I slaved away for days making them. :-) Thank you once again for this video tutorial, Maria.
Garden Glow. Lovely ideas! You could also use (something new to me) glitter paper! Maybe more expensive to make (sorry, don't remember cost) but w/low lighting would be SO glitter-y!! You know how glitter goes EVERYWHERE! Can you imagine making whole sheets of it??!! What's also nice about these is pretty young kids could probably make these too.
Dear Gentle Whispering, I am 15 years old, living in Utah, and I am so grateful for everything you do. you're by far my favorite whisperer, and I can't get to sleep without you. At the end of a long day, I can get on youtube, and just relax and be in a great mood. I can't thank you enough. Your biggest fan, Tyler.
She is the best, I like her older videos best, I like the soft spoken smooth natural flow voice not so much whispering and slow it’s not natural sounding as no one really talks slow in real life as it would be annoying waiting for the words to come out, but as I said she is the best in soft spoken
Wow.... you know what? I searched 1, 2 or maybe 3 years ago youtube for origami videos. Made by woman and without disturbing music in the background. Only papersounds. But I searched without success. I didn't know anything about ASMR and I thougt I am the only one on earth who is looking for calm and silent origami videos on youtube for relaxation purpose and tingles ;-)
Nope not the only one. I used to watch PBS craft shows as a teenager just bc the soft spoken women and the sounds of the paper and the brushes made me tingle. I always thought i was just strange as a kid and back then ASMR wasnt even a thing. Lol. I discovered ASMR just a coupke months back when I accidentally came across the infamous 3D sound video called "The Tucker Zone" which led me to a binaural haircut video and watching that suddenly ASMR videos were suggested . I watched my first one which was Gentle Whispers haircut and the rest is tingly history. Now i cant fall asleep without listening to an ASMR video.
I know that it's March, but I just realized I learned how to make these stars while watching this video. *My whole office has you to thank* since these stars made our holidays so much brighter. And we still haven't taken them down :D They are just so pretty :)
Maria is my crafts teacher, my home decor expert, and my relaxing agent. Thank you so much Maria!!! You've impacted my life...I made this today just because I was bored...lol.
This is a great idea, Maria. I have been making smaller ones for gifts this year. I have found if you spray them with clear, glossy spray paint (at least 2 coats) it makes the paper look like ribbon. Thanks for sharing such a simply beautiful idea.
Maria! Thank you 1000 times for this tutorial! I made this for my home last year and again this year! My boyfriend loves them, my friends love them, and my parents love them! I'm so glad you not only share your beautiful personality with us, but these crafts add life to my home! You are lovely! Thank you again! Much love!!
i watched this with my nieces one night so they would fall asleep the next day we watched again and are going to make our own decorations this year thank you maria. Anton x
i absolutely love that you included all holidays in your explanation for this!! Im jewish and oftentimes, people forget about Hannukah, or dont even know what it is! Thank you for being so considerate
It's November 3rd, but after watching this I'm going to start making these right now because I don't want to forget to make them during the busy holiday season. I will just hang them in my storage room and then take them out when I start my Christmas decorating! Thank you for posting this video!!!
I really like her older video's. She had this very alluring accent and the way she talked in general. Actually old videos, at least for me are kind of more effective for inducing tingles or for making me sleep, don't know why.
OMG I love this!! My mind was all a whirl thinking of the different papers I have and can use to make these. I'm going to make two first thing in the morning to go along side a bulletin board I am decorating in the school library where I work. I would suggest to anyone who is having a child do the decorating that the drawing is done before cutting. An older kid might be able to design it after the cutting but a little one might have difficulty not tearing the paper. Thank you, Maria!
I watched this for the asmr aspect and now i am addicted to making snowflakes. Thank you so much for this video!! I've made like 10 snowflakes in the last 3 days!!! :)
I wish I could post pics. I made three of these for my house in various shades of purple. They look like something you would buy at a store. So beautiful! Thank you for teaching me something new. I love your videos for the ASMR aspects but also because you do really teach useful and fun skills. You rock!!

I learned making these when I was 8 years old but I totally forgot it until I saw this video. *Oh gosh, here comes the nostalgia* Thank you so much for reminding me of that! :D
how neat! i would love to see more hand videos - something I used to love doing when i was little was dipping my hands in hot wax in a parafin that my mother had and then peel it off. i think a lot of people like doing this with glue too. anyway, can't wait for more new videos. they help me sleep so much!
I watch your videos so much that my ASMR started to go away. BUT! That construction paper sounds triggered it. Your amazing GentleWhispering. Love from Alaska
The video was relaxing nd I love it when ur vids are super long. It gets me so excited. Idk y u apologize about ur videos being long. Dnt worry we all love them nd u :)
Hi Maria, happy new year! I just wanted to thank you for this great snowflake tutorial. I'm sure you heard about the horrible tragedy in Newtown ct. My niece works for a school here in ct and the staff was asked over there winter break to make snowflakes for the students of the Sandy Hook elementary school kids for when they return to classes at there new school. I made it in the green and white colors for them. So again, thank you. Hopefully this will make their day a little brighter......
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I used it today with 2 classes of 10 and 11 year olds and we had fantastic results (well, a couple of them were "interesting" but the majority worked! Great Christmas craft idea which kept my class busy!
Maria, you're so sweet. Your whole story, your compassion & spirit...you're just an angel. Thanks for the great video, as usual! Merry Christmas to you and those you love :)
Marvelous video Maria. I love the way you teach us this craft slowly step by step & clearly too. You would make the most wonderful grade school teacher ever. All the young kids would love you so much because of your sweet disposition & voice & beauty. :) I would try to go back to school just to have you as my teacher. lol ;) I love your vid beautiful star snowflake & your beautiful voice & hands just mesmerize me. ;) It's a long vid but with you it's magical every second of it. :)) Big Hugs
Hey, Maria, thanks so much for this :) I made this last year to my mom and she still has it! God, how the time flies... I remember very well of me watching this video and at the same time making the snowflake/star hahah ^-^. It made her very happy, by the way, so thanks again :)
You Are fantastic! Thank You! Cant wait to make these with my wife and she may be able to make them with her students too. Sooo Relaxing and tingly for me!
wow i thought that the paper was actually in that design. i was thinking "my gosh where would i find nice paper like that". i'm in france right now, and i think nailpolish is too expensive here. but I'm gonna try to make taht with all the highlighters I have here :D i'm gonna attempt to make one of those stars to hang in my appartment for the new year :D

I am absolutely sure of one thing and that is you must be a wonderful person to know which makes me a little sad because we will never meet. What a wonderful friend and wife you must be, I can just feel it! You will make the most magical mother one day ;) I see that you tube in their infinite wisdom has done away with the friends module. *comes home from long night at library, sees your origami tutorial video* Holy crap! YES! OMFG YES! *entire household and several nearby neighbours wake up* True Story. I can't describe how happy I was to see video up.
Again you did it... Absolutely soothing, calming and wonderfull..... I love your videos... Can't say it enough... ;) I have a disease, called morbus crohn. (crohns disease) it's pretty bad right now and has been for many years now. And cause of that- i have to take a lot of medication, which does bad things to my body. But watching you, comforts me and helps not take to many painkillers, cuz U make mé fall a sleep during the Day and helps me Fall a sleep at Night... My life wouldn't be the same
Oh my Maria..Whenever u speak, your voice automatically soothes me and i feel so relax and sleepy..U don't have to do anything. Just say something and i will get real hypnotize..
woooow this is awesome! I immediately made one myself, it looks great, and my roommate is so thrilled, tomorrow we are making a lot of snowflakes! :) thank you for the tutorial, great video! :*
I love this... really great ASMR tingles, and it made me run out and buy paper and double stick tape at lunch so I can make this star tonight! Thank you...
I really love the lower quality videos, they give me more tingles than the higher quality ones (for some reason). But even now they're still fantastic.
Samee
The hint of background white noise makes all the difference.
Something about the audio balance is different. I think there are fewer lower tones picked up highlighting the crinkles and certain mouth sounds.
Something to do with her voice as well. She has more of an accent in these videos whereas in the more recent ones you can clearly hear that she spent her life in the US as her accent sounds more American.
It's the juggs that are having the effect
Who's out here in 2021? Love these older/ "poorer quality" ASMR videos ❤
Actually... I love anything she does! 😅
Me. I’m just finding the old stuff and love her tutorials. She’s very creative and I enjoy the instructional voice rather than the straight whispering. Of course. Supplies have improved since and you can draw with paint pens now!
I just got this recommended today lol

Making your snowflakes again Maria! This is about the 4/5 time I made them since you posted in 2011. I’ve been with you since the very beginning ❤️
exactly 10 years ago today this video was posted, and I remember watching this right when it came out. I came back for the craft tutorial, and ended up watching it all the way through again! I couldn't click off I was so relaxed. still the best to this day
These old school lo fi videos are the best…. ❤
I think I’ve been subbed almost as long as this video
I used your directions for these again. I had to decorate the lobby of our high school auditorium for our winter concert and these worked perfectly. I actually printed Christmas song sheet music from the internet then cut the papers into 8x8 squares. I used 8 pieces to make the star and they turned out fantastic! Great idea to use sheet music!
Mmmm..... High School and Christmas time..... :) I miss those days, back in the late 2000's....
I love the Christmas song sheet music idea!! How clever and creative!! :)
And now 2019... still one of the best ASMR videos out there.
That was the beginning of my asmr journey ... looking for a crafts project, watched, hooked forever!

You are a lady Bob Ross. Your voice is, not your hair. Watching this, all I could think was "happy little snowflakes". Love it. Thank you!
Wow.... you know what? I searched 1, 2 or maybe 3 years ago youtube for origami videos. Made by woman and without disturbing music in the background. Only papersounds. But I searched without success. I have made about 900 of these since I watched your video, and I've taught it to 4 other people who loved it!
Loved this tutorial :) Also, I never find any rude or mean comments when I come to your videos. We respect you so much Maria
I have been sitting here for about an hour and a half making some of those snowflakes with the video on repeat. I'm having a nice night, thank you!
I love when you say "very well". It makes me smile.

I love this... and thank goodness NO AD! I can't use any vids with ads on my playlist, they wake me up! lol. Thank you so much!
2018!!! You have grown a lot, you shoud do origami videos again
Totally agree! Maybe in the same "free form" style. Kinda like a throwback.
