This brings back so many memories. Morishima is one of my favorite ROH Champions alon with Nigel, Joe, And Danielson. ROH in 2007 is one of my favorite years in wrestling.
My favorite ROH matches of all time are :- Bryan Danielson vs Nigel McGuinness Bryan Danielson vs Kenta Bryan Danielson vs Morishima Samoa Joe vs Kenta Kobashi Samoa Joe vs Cm Punk Cm Punk vs Austin Aries Kevin Steen vs El Generico
Aww, man. One of the true classics from ROH's DVD only era. "Battle" is the only word to describe this match; just ask Bryan's detached retina. Speaking of which, this match also heralded the glorious period of "Pirate Patch" Danielson. No doubt it sucked for Bryan, but it sure made him look badass.
I remember i was 13 watching this and nigels roh matches for the first time and thinking why am I watching wwe ? Only thing that sucked was no live tv and I had to find the matches online.
God, I remember the hype going into this one! They definitely delivered - this one’s one of my all-time favorites, and if you’re trying to turn someone on to Danielson or golden era ROH, point them here. The simplicity of the story being told, like Flair’s classic stuff, is part of what makes it so great. I miss this stuff.
Crazy how Morishima detaching Danielson’s eye prevents us from seeing Danielson become the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion a week later. He was booked to win the vacant title after NWA ended the agreement with TNA. 6:26
These 2 beat the hell out of each other every time they were in the ring. This is the ROH I fell in love with in 2007. I don't even recognize today's ROH. Listen to that damn crowd. When they would come to Detroit, they would be at the old Michigan State fairgrounds, sat about 400 people, and it would be loud as hell in there. 20 bucks no matter where you sat. If you didn't get to see ROH live in those years and years prior, you missed out.
Hopefully you're watching again. They turned it around after lockdown. Change in creative worked. Way to go yet to catch early years greatness, but nonetheless the best wrestling currently in North America alongside MLW and NJPW Strong
Course, my favorite match from 2007 was The Undertaker vs Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 23. Which should have been the Main Event.
@@tammycalvery4110 Interesting, since that match-up for the WWE Championship was just as good as the Last Man Standing match-up for the (then) World Heavyweight Championship.
Well they did at the Final Battle PPV with a lot of some great matches that did happen with Claudio Castagnoli becoming the ROH World Champion for the 2nd time and seeing Athena win the ROH Women's title from Mercedes Martinez definitely was not a bad PPV but does sound like to me that the territory is doing just fine since Tony Khan does the booking for them, anyways.
I don't like Morishima, as I don't like brawlers in general. Imho the likes of Danielson and Sabre are real wrestlers; what people like Morishima and Hansen, or hardcores like Foley and Necro Butcher, do, is not wrestling, it's more like Jackass. I can understand people who like Hansen because he was good in conveying perseverance and energy. But Morishima is fat, he's not safe, he has no technical precision and athletic elegance (and don't say that this is because he's too big, Samoa Joe was both bulcky and elegant), he's slow, he would be destroyed in any real match. I just don't understand of can well-educated people consider him one of the best brawlers.
I agree, though I can see why they didn't get the ratings: the one with Nigel had a cringeworthy spot that was totally unnecessary and the one with KENTA was due to KENTA's lack of selling his legs Bryan was working on.
@@uzomaiwuagwu535 Dude, have you seen some of the matches that got 5* from Dave ? He's an absolute clown. Cringeworthy spots have never stopped him from giving a match 5*.

It's absurd how much a lot of this match is nearly a shoot, and then they go back to worked moves, and then more shooting. It is a weird sense of honor that they stick to working this match while also trying really hard to beat each other up.
He probably knew that it did happen, which is probably why the match went into a different direction that he did at the time is mostly why he did get some heat from it, anyways.
Yep the territory has been doing well in the past year because I feel Tony has definitely changed a lot of things with the entire territory, which he allows some talents from AEW and New Japan to do storylines is something that I feel ROH wasn't doing a lot a couple years ago because of it, anyways.

You may want to watch the whole video if you think he didn't sell. He shouldn't be selling those kicks right from the get go anyway, as he's a big dude, has tree trunks for legs and his being booked like a badass.
