I do my club stuff but have a little PA if anyone wants me to do a little party or whatever...sometimes I find these gigs more fun as you can show your personality more.
That’s what I’ve been telling my kids. It’s paid off for me. My accounting professor in college told me if you want to make money, specialize. Both of these wisdoms are correct.
I started DJing in the Hair Salon where I was an assistant when I was 17-18y. There was not much mixing but I would put mix CDs that I made during the week. It was a small team and the clients where grooving on the beats. The stylist let me decided the vibes and all. I loved it.
Idk what the club scene is like in my city these days i stopped going out too clubs about 2005 when all my favourite clubs / events closed down.. When i go on a night out now i just go down my local pub or if i end up in town i go too the strip club.....😂 BRING BACK COLOURS, FREEFALL & INSIDE.. OUT
With the concern about "annoying" people in a pub or restaurant, think of your set more as atmosphere as opposed to the highlight. I used to play in a small European-style cafe, and I mainly played deep house and more chill music, keeping the volume lower so people could drink and talk. I had a lot of fun and people loved the vibe. I had some colleagues who wanted to come in and "pound it", but in my eyes they're missing the point. They wanted some big loud rave, and you won't find it in these spots, so they should simply not bother or be versatile.
nice! was thinking about doing a retro weekly night at a bar here that's 80s themed called Rubiks. but playing only tracks before 1994ish but as background music since its a Tuesday and those interested in hearing this music aren't going to pop 3 double stacked white tulips and a bump on the back end. maybe a few drunkards will make a dancefloor but would be great for introverts who analyse dance tracks. but ur comment got me the idea to do tgis with ltj style drum and bass. like intelligent or atmospheric. heads bobbing maybe so chair dancing.
@@digitaldjtipsdepends how many friends and what sort of music you’re playing weirdly! Repetitive electronic beats means there can only be 4 of you or something. Can’t remember the specific number. Rock music is fine! Madness 🙄

Raving in the woods while running through the trees and howling at the moon wide eyed under the stars is the absolute best!
As a wolf demon DJ I agree!
Great advice as always. I'm finding it easier to get gigs lately, I think there is a demand especially if you specialize in a certain genre

Very true!
A wise man once told me if you want to make easy money be willing to do things no one else wants to do 😂 I’ll leave that up to interpretation 🤙🏽🕺😎

Making mix CDs for venues is a great way to get people talking about your DJing, too!
Art gallery's I forgot and this as also doing street art ':p great tips! love from Belgium
Thanks!
Ice rinks are a good source as they often also have an Ice Hockey team so there's more events for you for greater exposure.
Good point!
Great vid as always. Laughed so hard when you were going through the age groups and why they go out....😅😅😅😅 Thanks Phil and DDJT!
You are so welcome!
I have a question, which Older Mac Book should I get for DJing ??
Damn I missed it !
Yeah nobody mention strip joints ☺️😓
👏 👏
100% that and weddings, ironically probably top 2 solid gigs that never end 😂
Barber shops 💈 are great option to play out.
Good point!

I mixed a bit of amapiano at home the other night. Sometimes you don't need to hear hardstep drum and bass.

Went to hear an amazing jazz pianist at Pizza Express in London... Family come in just to eat a load of dough balls.
Maybe it converted them to jazz?
@@digitaldjtips I could convert them to jazz, but I wouldn't use dough balls.
I missed it again 😢
Just wondering what the legality of DJing in the woods is in the UK
Illegal
