Good morning. Happy new year. One particular characteristic you display that I really appreciate, you don’t generally say an item is bad, rather you don’t prefer nor like it. That is professional journalism. Thank you.
Glad to have you back on point. Hoping your batteries are recharged from time off. This was a great way to suggest that we, donate our time to Service of our Fellow Travelers through our food banks, and also I might add Senior Citizens Centers, Meals on Wheels, or your next door neighbor that has advanced in years. Brother, you are moving in a direction that should be emphasized more often, that of Kindness. I found this meal quite insightful, and a bit surprising. Who knew you could find this quality of selection at a food bank. As always your finger is on the pulse of what's new and different, great vid. I saw you scored a freeze dryer from Costco. Looking forward to some great content from the score. As always keep doing what you are doing, providing Service to your Fellow Travelers through Time & Space. See you on the trail.
I used to use your pistachio trick with sunflower seeds in the shell when I had to drive from South Alabama to Fourchon and Galiano Louisiana for work. I'd leave about 1:30 AM after usually getting to be no earlier than 10:30 or 11:00 PM. The fact that I had to physically shell them and the fact that once you start you can't stop until the bag is empty kept me awake on my early morning drive numerous times. Great segment with an unusual source for items. Glad to see you back!
We (wife and I) have been in need of the food pantry. Have been provided a variety of items from them for a little over 2 years. We have received a plethora of intersting items. Has been a blessing. Whatever you do, DO NOT try/have the food for life chili, no beans, appreciate it but ew, not good. 😅. We have some of those pistachios. They were/are good. Food is a human right. Food pantries are a blessing. Thanks for this!
Your content and the associated quality just keep getting better. Great job. Food pantries helped my family through bad times growing up. Meat in rations is fantastic and should not be discounted. I just had a Spanish ICR Menu B3 for lunch today and the 3 main components are basically meat/protein; stewed beef (literally just beef in a can, super tender and delicious), mackerel filets, and pate. Take care!
Yes I too used to open pistachios with my teeth. After chipped teeth my husband told me to open them with my hands or using a shell from an open one. It might be hard to do in traffic.
Absolutely! As long as they are giving it to you I don’t take issue. I don’t condone walking in and grabbing condiments if you aren’t buying anything or loading up with excessive amounts.
@dadbudgetadventures Ita. I asked for extra and take whatever I'm given. Sometimes it's several packs of whatever and Sometimes it's just 1. Grateful for whatever they give.
Happy New Year and welcome back! Hunger is an issue that is present in every community. I challenge everyone to make a huge pot of soup, stew, or some type of one pan/pot dish, feed your family, then pack up biodegradable 16 ounce containers with a napkin and biodegradable spoon and drive around and feed people in need you will almost certainly find more than you have meals for. You can do the same with ready to eat items from your own pantry, add some hygiene items that are ready to rotate out of your preps, and if you can, throw in a new pair of warm socks (we keep bags like this in our car). Last night we provided seven people and one friend with the gift of a hot meal on a cold winter night. We’re far from well off, but recognize we’re more fortunate than others, please help community members in need, because that hand up may be what someone needs to turn their life around.
Our food pantry has a similar packet to the beef stew except for chili. It’s okay on its own, but it’s very good on top of veggies like a baked squash or mixed into Mac n cheese. Has sustained us many a nights through hard times, and we include it in our emergency bag since the shelf life is so long!
I enjoyed this video very much. I have been involved in food pantries/food banks in my life. I have seen both ends of the quality spectrum there too. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year 😊
@dadbudgetadventures for those of us living on very tight budget or fixed incomes, an emergency can be even more devastating. Being prepared is even more important and seemingly out of reach at times. This was a really good idea, and I hope you can do a couple more just to create some more ideas.
Totally blown away with the AWSOME selection of products in your grab bag! PLEASE, continue producing your unique content!!! Your efforts are much appreciated. We cruse the isles of S&R wholesale each month to build up the stock of our emergency storage and search for new items. S&R is a membership warehouse operating in the Philippine Islands that apparently has a business relationship with COSTCO. Many Kirkland products are stocked. We find both regional specialities in bulk at good prices as well as imported products that have been increasingly difficult to obtain in local supermarkets. I have never encountered any of the brands you demonstrated in this video, even before relocating to the Phils thirteen (13) years ago. My plan is to share this video with Beautiful Bride and hope we may find some of these items for our family to test. We strive to provide as much healthy verity as possible so emergencies are not as difficult to endure as they might otherwise be. We are pleased to see our young troops enjoying a more international diet as time passes. I was surprised today when Beautiful Daughter, seventeen (17) years old, placed Bacon wrapped Enoki mushrooms on the table as an appetizer! The fresh mushrooms were her S&R find of the month.
This was great! I do go to a food pantry, it’s not the kind where you shop, you drive up & they have a prepared box. Sometimes I get random things that I’m not sure how to use-making mre’s for travel is great.
The volunteer experience was absolutely wonderful. I did feel a bit guilty for shopping but we were told to shop. I had a few college age students assisting and I gave them items they wanted to help them out. Please consider volunteering at your local food bank.
Happy New Year! I have no problem with others using a food pantry. I myself would use one if absolutely necessary. But I am very appreciative that I currently don't need to use one.
Happy New Year! Enjoyed the video, pretty impressive selection of items. I've doctored up my own "flat" tasting chili mac with ketchup (which will repulse some people😊) I also like spaghetti and meat sauce with a can of chili put in, and cheddar on top. I worked at a high-end steak house, and we would freeze leftovers to donate (which took years to approve) Obviously, all the expensive proteins were never leftover, but a lot of potato dishes were. They went to a local shelter who would serve them, but eventually the shelters stopped picking them up. They were staffed by mostly volunteers, and there was no continuity of a position that would coordinate pick-ups for them...We contacted and gave to four or five shelters, but it eventually just petered out...
Great point. That’s another aspect of this that nobody talks about. Someone has to coordinate these things and sometimes that guy moves on and nobody wants to pick up that job. Then it just doesn’t get done anymore and donors lose interest because it seems like nobody wants their donations.
Right now my money after payment all bills in full is 58.66 a month... no extras... no debt. I am happy about that. Last month it was 10 Canadian a month. It is really important to show people it is possible to put aside emergency food. I have not been to the pantries yet... mom keeps sending me home with frozen leftovers and some groceries... I do surveys and play games to get grocery gift cards. (Don't judge me Karen's... I am genetically messed up. 😂 I can't fix them genes.)
Never let anyone judge you for doing what you have to with what you’ve been given. I’m glad you are managing and hope you are well. Thank you for sharing.
I've been volunteering at a charity resale shop, but haven't thought about a food pantry. I don't go to them because I usually have enough food from SNAP. And right now I need to find work that pays money and has good insurance, since my meds are working well enough that I can do productive labor. Still, I'll keep it in mind.
Thanks for spreading the information little brother. All of the organizations that supplies food always need help. Just keep one thing in mind if you want to donate food........"Would you eat it?". Here is to a great 2025!!!

@dadbudgetadventures right on, thank you. I've been doing packs like this for when my home cooked meals run out in the cooler. You've got hella good ideas n menu options thanks again. My job often has me on the road more then at home
Even if your a working family and need a little help a food pantry is ok to use. No one ever judges you they are happy to help people. Even if it gives a little extra money in your pocket so your able to have a savings. Grocery are really expensive and they pantry is there to help.
Be careful of the lite drinks. Most have Arithrital witch is known to cause heart problems and exacerbate existing heart conditions. I drank half of a sleeve over about 5 days, and my arithmea sent me to the hospital. Mileage will vary, but please be mindful.
A pantry is not a grocery store where you find the things you want. It is usually a mix of things that were not selling well at the real grocery store. That said it can be very eclectic. That’s just weird, not able to share with other pantries, our local pantry runs every Tuesday Thursday and Friday, and while we can take some things that are overstocked and going to go bad. There are ppl in my building that go to food pantries and then give away things they don’t want, like chili, peanut butter & jelly, rice, beans, canned soups/fruits, chicken, tuna, salmon etc.
@ I agree! It’s much better to share things with others that you’ll probably never use than to keep it for no reason or throw it away! Some people just leave things they don’t feel like moving too lol. Canned goods are heavy, just ask my shelves!
I was confused with your pistachio problem. I always broke pistachios open with my hands so I didn’t understand the tooth issue, then I realized you were biting them open.
@ I shell sunflower seeds by biting, which is an item I include in a lot of my homemade rations and keep in my wildland fire gear for long search and rescue calls and longer brush fires.
Oh yeah the red tape when it comes to food waste is bad. I work in a group home and we have strict licensing about food we serve and expiration dates. Any normal person would be fine with canned goods or pasta or crackers a week past the expiration date but licensing requires we dispose of it. So instead of tossing it staff will take things home some times. There's sadly no other legal option to avoid throwing away perfectly good food.
I volunteered at a church based food bank. Some of the stuff was pretty scary. The local Wally World I work at would rather see the go down the trash chute rather than donate
None of our local food pantries allow you to pick what you want. They give you a box and send you on your way. My neighbor sometimes givrs me things she or her dogs wont eat. One is a American funded pantry but most of the food comes from China. I find that disturbing. 😮
I EAT THE BEEF STEW AND THE CHILI ALL THE TIME ...... ITS PRETTY GOOD WITH SRIRACHA AND SOME GARLIC POWDER ... I LIKE IT ALOT !!!!!
I need to find the chili and give it a try some time.
The food bank has saved me quite a few times. A wonderful resource
Absolutely. It’s something people are often completely unaware of.
Good morning. Happy new year. One particular characteristic you display that I really appreciate, you don’t generally say an item is bad, rather you don’t prefer nor like it. That is professional journalism. Thank you.

Thank you for sampling these items. This video will also give us ideas of tasty foods to donate to our Local Food Banks!
Now there’s a great way to look at it. See the need and fulfill the need! Thank you!
Your content and the associated quality just keep getting better. Great job.

Yes I too used to open pistachios with my teeth. After chipped teeth my husband told me to open them with my hands or using a shell from an open one. It might be hard to do in traffic.
Yeah, that complicates things a bit behind the wheel 😂
Good to see you back. Happy New Year!
Thank you. It’s good to be back.
My tip for free prepping is when i go to a fast food restaurant, i always ask for extra ketchup, bbq sauce, pepper, salt, 9:13 jelly, or even napkins.
Absolutely! As long as they are giving it to you I don’t take issue. I don’t condone walking in and grabbing condiments if you aren’t buying anything or loading up with excessive amounts.

I find seniors on limited incomes in my neighborhood are happy to get a nutritious meal brought to them.
Sounds like you’re doing some great work. Thank you for your willingness to give back.
Love this, did not know they just threw i away.
Not all do, it depends on the site and the source of donation.

That’s great to hear. I was hoping these products were showing up in more places than just this one.
@@pianobooks42 yes! The bag of chili mixed into a box of mac n cheese (a food pantry staple) can feed a family a high protein, belly filling meal.
Glad to see you back at it.
Thanks! I’m glad to be back in the saddle.
Happy New Year. Nice to have you back on.
Thank you. Glad to be back.
Intresting!
Thank you!
that stew is good on top of rice you can add any her s to it you like can make three or for servings
I enjoyed this video very much. I have been involved in food pantries/food banks in my life. I have seen both ends of the quality spectrum there too.
I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year 😊

Thank you for the Food Pantry MRE!
And Thank You for explaining about what Food pantries do with their leftovers; very informative!
You’re quite welcome. I really enjoyed doing this one.
Really enjoy your videos. Love your shout out to volunteering. Good man! Happy New Year!
Thank you so much. Hope your 2025 is happy and prosperous!
Nice video and from a unique site. Thanks

You bet. Happy hunting!
Happy new year 🎊.

I have a bunch of those packages of beef stew they also make chili the same way
So I hear. Need to find that.
The peach mango lyte Bodyarmor drinks are so good. The non-lyte drinks taste like melted candy… way too sweet.
Good stuff
Thank you!
Happy New Year
Thank you. To you as well!
Happy new year
To you as well!
I've been volunteering at a charity resale shop, but haven't thought about a food pantry. I don't go to them because I usually have enough food from SNAP. And right now I need to find work that pays money and has good insurance, since my meds are working well enough that I can do productive labor. Still, I'll keep it in mind.
Glad to hear things are looking up. Best wishes on finding a great job that will provide what you need!
Just wanted to feed the algorithm. Great video idea.
I’ll take it. Thanks!
Thanks for spreading the information little brother. All of the organizations that supplies food always need help. Just keep one thing in mind if you want to donate food........"Would you eat it?". Here is to a great 2025!!!
That’s an excellent point. People need to be encouraged to donate GOOD FOOD, not just stuff you had that you didn’t want.
There are very few meal items, main course anyway, that can benefit from a little cheese. I have taken to keeping small packs of Whisps on hand just to add on top of other food items to help make it just a 🤏 more edible. 🍻
I love those things. They definitely make things better.
There is no shame about relying on visiting a food pantry. They usually provide things that one wouldn't expect from shopping at a store.
Absolutely. Everyone goes through lean times. A little help shouldn’t be shameful.
Hello, sir. First timer here, pleasure to meet you, sir. Quite a pleasure.
Two Questions:
1. Why did this show up in my recommendations ?
2. Why didn't this show up in my recommendations sooner ?
Welcome to the channel! Believe me, if I could figure out the algorithm I’d be doing this full time for a living!
Our food bank has great food , sometimes we get steak! Get eggs and breads. But we get cereal and juice in senior boxes,I think that is dumb because most seniors are diabetic so that could be changed .
Yeah, unfortunately a lot of people think it’s good for you so they put it in boxes that aren’t appropriate for the recipient. Glad y’all have a good selection otherwise though.
I remember having a meal with some folks who'd gone to a pantry one time. And what we had was amazing. Moonshine sausages (they were like bratwurst) on jalapeno Hawaiian rolls. If that don't sound good to you, there's something wrong.
That sounds amazing!
Where can I get that beef stew, I'm on the road for work a lot. Good for the van pantry
That’s a good question. I poked around a little online and haven’t found an obvious source yet.
Great point. Thanks for sharing that!
We get that too ,the chilli.
I need to find that and try it.
I worked for a banquet place when I was younger and it is a shame to see how much food gets wasted there also.
Food waste in the restaurant and grocery industries is shameful.
Looking forward to seeing the new adventures for 2025........can't wait for the freeze drier content
I’m pretty excited about that too.
Be careful of the lite drinks. Most have Arithrital witch is known to cause heart problems and exacerbate existing heart conditions. I drank half of a sleeve over about 5 days, and my arithmea sent me to the hospital. Mileage will vary, but please be mindful.
Good information. Thanks for sharing.
Here in CA we have laws that prevent them from those types of lawsuits. In fact, it's illegal for companies, stores, schools etc to NOT donate it
More states are passing laws like that and I’m glad to see it. Waste shouldn’t be the alternative when people need what you’re throwing out.
@dadbudgetadventures totally agree
A pantry is not a grocery store where you find the things you want. It is usually a mix of things that were not selling well at the real grocery store. That said it can be very eclectic. And you may never see those products or brands again in the pantry.
These are all donations. And when you are hungry they taste pretty darn good
Very true!
That’s just weird, not able to share with other pantries, our local pantry runs every Tuesday Thursday and Friday, and while we can take some things that are overstocked and going to go bad. It’s not regular. We also share with other pantries in the area,
And yes volunteering does get you a “ shopping trip” if you’re needy but not “ Really” needy. so go volunteer!
Yes we got the stew , cases of the stuff , and it was better than ditty more.
Thanks for that input. People need to hear this message and find more ways to give back.
It is so ironic that the people who get the maddest about voluteers going through thg he line at the end of the day at a food pantry.are the ones that have never volunteered at a food pantry 😊
I would rather see food going to anyone except the trash. I hope that the excess at the food pantry means people are doing better.
Unfortunately I think it means a lot of people don’t have the means to get to where the food is. Seems there ought to be better solutions than the dumpster.
You are probably right and I hate wasting of anything but one can hope things will be better.
You need rest from sanding and eating?
Yeah, that’s totally all that’s involved here.
Try a $10 budget at Walmart.. see if you can live on that for 48 hours.
I know it's a crazy thing to request. But I've done it
I’m sure I could but would I want to? 😂. Might be a fun challenge.
Military MREs are the best. Because they provide the most calories & protein to keep you strong. 💪 and they last 4ever
There are ppl in my building that go to food pantries and then give away things they don’t want, like chili, peanut butter & jelly, rice, beans, canned soups/fruits, chicken, tuna, salmon etc.
Redistributing is a good deed as well. Better than throwing it out, for sure.
@ I agree! It’s much better to share things with others that you’ll probably never use than to keep it for no reason or throw it away! Some people just leave things they don’t feel like moving too lol. Canned goods are heavy, just ask my shelves!
Looks like your bug in pantry is well stocked for free.
Definitely!
👍👏💪👏❤️
😎
I was confused with your pistachio problem. I always broke pistachios open with my hands so I didn’t understand the tooth issue, then I realized you were biting them open.
I thought that was the preferred method 😂
@ I shell sunflower seeds by biting, which is an item I include in a lot of my homemade rations and keep in my wildland fire gear for long search and rescue calls and longer brush fires.
Oh yeah the red tape when it comes to food waste is bad. I work in a group home and we have strict licensing about food we serve and expiration dates. Any normal person would be fine with canned goods or pasta or crackers a week past the expiration date but licensing requires we dispose of it. So instead of tossing it staff will take things home some times. There's sadly no other legal option to avoid throwing away perfectly good food.
At least they allow staff to keep it. Most places won’t even do that for fear of encouraging theft.
I volunteered at a church based food bank. Some of the stuff was pretty scary. The local Wally World I work at would rather see the go down the trash chute rather than donate
Yeah, that’s such a shame.
Those nuts are from government, we get nuts ,raisins, dates, but walnuts , cheese.
I kinda figured it was something like that. Love that government cheese though. 😎
None of our local food pantries allow you to pick what you want. They give you a box and send you on your way. My neighbor sometimes givrs me things she or her dogs wont eat. One is a American funded pantry but most of the food comes from China. I find that disturbing. 😮
That’s kinda nuts
@dadbudgetadventures I agree. I think it would be much better if given a choice. I think that would leave unwanted items for others to take.
Government makes us waist no matter what. 🤫
Seems that way, for sure.
The beef stew has more soy than beef. I can eat it but not look at it.
Yeah it’s kinda ugly
