I have been using the roborock S7 since it was released and I was like I need to upgrade, so I got the ecovacs x2 and after testing it. the navigation sucked and many times it missed cleaning some spot. so I ordered Roborock S7 MAX ULTRA and tasted both of them and the difference is massive. it cleans super fast same as my old S7, does not miss any spots. I decided to return the Ecovacs x2 and kept the Roborock S7 ma ultra.
There is a big difference between those as I consider Roborock as a leader in navigation. I hope Ecovacs fixes these issues soon or they will lose market share. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your expierance.
because navigation may be lacking but the mopping and cleaning are just straight up better in comparison to raw hardware. proven by MANY reviewers@@Martin_H.94
I was so close to buying this robot, but so many customer reviews turned me around. I hope they sent you this robot free of charge. The only thing you can compare this robot to is a 6 year old with a toy mop and broom.
@jamie.andrews that's because they want free product from affiliate programs. Free would change my opinion too, the cup would definitely be "half full" 😆
I bought one about 5 months ago and spent about 2 weeks just trying to get it to both navigate and clean the whole house. I would do maybe 3 rooms and then go back and dock and say it had finished. I worked with Ecovacs support re-mapping etc and at one point they said too much sunlight will cause issues. I sent them pic of the area(s) which just had normal or no sunlight and in the end they agreed to refund and I sent it back. Waiting for the Eufy S1 now to come out.
I do not own the x2, but also considered buying it. What put me off early after I saw the first navigation Videos is that the theoretic advantage of the form factor is not used at all, it is even working worse on walls and edges. It is not driving parallel and close to walls and it is not driving into edges. But then it has all disadvantages like turning. I really don't get why they made that robot, released it in this condition giving not the impression the concept following any plan.
Yea I agree with that. They made too many changes to their flagship and all they needed to do was add lifting mop pads and hot water washing to the X1 and call it and X2. I just hope they can fix these issues.
I've had both the T8AIVI and the T20, both had navigation isseus. At least once every month it would create a new map in the existing map, only it was like 20 degrees crooked. Got a Qrevo and Roborock is just a lot better at the navigation part.
Tape your base station to the floor. Any small changes to the angle or position of the station can cause a remap. I have a T8 AIVI as well, and have learned to deal w/ it through drugs and therapy.
For the second issue I had it in x1 but it is fixed later with the update but for temporary fix is to move the robot near the door and put it as auto mode and make sure to open the door because sometime when turned on u closed the door and it scanned the door as closed so it will got lost
There are two ways to get into that room and neither way has a physical door. I showed the openings in the very last part of the video to give people context. The strange thing is if I do a zone cleaning in that room it will go straight to it. I have the X1 and never had navigation issues in my home so this is new to me. I also have the T10, T20 and several other Ecovacs models that navigate through my home with ease. I'm just hoping they get these issues fixed quickly.
Our local Best Buy has both the Ecovacs T20 and the X2, I definitely want to get my first robot that automatically washes the mop since I have all hard floors, I have no carpet at all. I already have several Ecovacs robots and they are really good. I wonder how much the X2 navigation issues would cause a problem based on how I use my bots. I always have my robots clean the entire place, I never use room cleaning. Also, for the Ecovacs robots, they have a feature that allows you to set them to clean once or twice, and I set them to clean twice. I could get the T20 instead, and I'm still thinking about the Roborock Q Revo, the Eufy X10 pro or maybe something from Dreametech. The Narwal also sounds interesting, I enjoyed your review of that but it seems to be missing a few major features.
I think at this point the navigation issues are mostly due to the lidar being on the front of the robot instead of the top. The Eufy X10 is almost the same robot, but with top mounted lidar and it navigates just fine. I have also heard of other reported issues with the X2 not related to navigation.
1st on had a bad drive wheel. The second one would not map the house. And this one seams to work ok, except once in awhile it says the bump stop is jammed. I'll put up with it for now.
The workaround for the navigation issue is to put a NoGo zone where your wall is to separate the rooms . The issue w/ dividing rooms is that you have to draw larger dividers that extend to the full width of the ENTIRE room. Even though the software may show the irregular cleanable area, it encloses that area in an invisible rectangle that extend across that irregular space. Your dividing line has to extend across the invisible rectangle. You may have issues dividing U-shaped spaces, in a situation like that, you would have creatively use the divide and merge functions to cut and recombine spaces to achieve your desired result. These workarounds work great until your robot randomly decides to remap your house and reset your room layouts. F#@& Ecovacs and their $#!+ software!
I had the same issues with my X2. Would just run around bouncing off things like its totally lost. Ecovacs ended up replacing it and still had some of the same issues as well as it is terrible with dealing with hair. The rollers would get jammed after just one round of vacuuming. I contacted Amazon, and they agreed to accept it back for a return after it was passed the return window. Am going to try the new T30S. Hopefully, I get better results.
My X2 is full of bugs too!! At times it will get lost going back to the station. It won't empty the dust bin automatically, I have to manually do it via the app (my old Deebot t9+ did it automatically). And at times I will send it to do a full clean will go to one room start to clean spin around a few times and say its going back to the base 🤷♂️ I think it's starting to get a bad reputation the X2!!
Yea I have seen those issues as well but did not catch them on camera. I can recreate it not being able to get to my kitchen. It was so frustrating trying to test and film this thing.
My X2 is new, I only have 2 weeks left before I can send it back to Ecovacs. I'm not sure if I should send it back or wait and hope they do updates that actually address the issues..
@@jmill104 I assume at some point that they will fix these issues, but not sure their time frame or if the can fix all of them. I was hoping they would fix them by now. I assume they won't or can't fix the issues in the app since those have been a problem for over a year.

What a bummer. So their solution for tighter path is to transpose the 2nd pass through of the deep scrubbing paths? And it’s not even implemented correctly 😂
Most premium robot vacuums have a deep scrubbing or deep mopping option which use tighter and sometimes slower paths to make more passes over the stains on the floor. This is only ever for mop or mop and vacuum mode only. I feel the issue with too wide of paths could be easily fixed. This is the only robot I have ever tested to have this issue.
Well ... I nearly bought this last month, but ended up choosing the Dreame L20s Ultra instead. Whew, that was a lucky break! Though I also can't divide rooms in my house in the software either, though I can custom-define zones for one-time cleaning. The cleaning itself is so-so, but I haven't done proper tests yet.
the cleaning on the x2 is very much better than the L20, also dreame isnt as good as everyone says. you dig and you find issues with the suction vacuum is cheap and breaks often and its very very hard to fix in comparison to irobot
Having lidar on one side is just idiotic. It cant see where to go without wobbling left and right looking around, instead of straight lines. Roomba for the win with its cameras.
