Staying out of the federal system is a better path for Texas. I would rather see an update on how the issues identified after the historic storm were addressed. Many of the resolutions were low cost in terms of equipment but required significant identification and planning such as avoiding cutting off power to smaller natural gas suppliers.
Have someone do a follow up on that report and then a short segment on the status of each issue. That would provide informative content, educate the viewers, and apply pressure where progress is lacking.

Y'know what's crazy? Having concrete failures all over the state because we don't have enough coal ash and byproducts to make proper concrete. What is even wilder is that the Nuclear Power plant in Bexar county is finally running near capacity, yet we still are not running both of the coal plants. Running the coal plants solve the power and concrete problems. Furthermore there has been significant push back against A&M wanting small reactors no their campuses for research and education as well. During the most recent national emergency we actually ran out of radiological samples and certain radio medicines as well; this was the result of certain labs being shutdown during the period of time.

Honestly keep Texas on its own grid. My family and I last power through the whole thing and stayed in our house the entire time. Our power was out as was all residential for the most part, but the business right behind me never lost power so you know what I did?took a 100 ft extension cord and a 6 plug and kept my heater and TV running as well as a hanging light at night. The blackout from the storm in 2021 had nothing to do with the "unreliability" of the Texas grid because if it was so unreliable then tell me how downtown Austin office buildings were empty and lit up the whole time but residential all over with people inside had nothing? Just like the business behind my house stayed on the whole time but our entire town ,except a few businesses, had no light. It wasn't a grid issue but it was designed to make it look like it was though from the outside. Please do all of Texas a favor and if you want to have federal oversight and regulation and you are not a Texas born native, go to any other state and you don't have to deal with our independent way of life and thinking. And This is just my opinion so please any Karen's that are going to get your panties in a wad just remember that my feelings could get hurt by your angry comments and you wouldn't want that on your conscience would you?😊

How often do areas in Texas request federal money for disaster relief, and Do you think Texans should rely more on their independent way of life during those events instead of receiving help?

@@coreyk9752 I don't know but with your logic being applied let's take into account of the amount of GDP Texas produced for the country and if we were to keep our independent way of life and all the money that's pumped out of our state given to the federal government to keep our country afloat then yeah I think it's the least the federal government should do to help in times of disaster that are outside of our control. But if we were to keep all the money made in Texas and it stayed in Texas we wouldn't need federal assistance unlike other places we can actually be self sufficient from food, energy, water, port access for trading, huge economic market in multiple sectors etc.

Why is the congressman’s audio clear while the interviewer’s audio is awful? Something fishy here… I suspect the congressman provided all the media/copy for this piece and the station just played it.

The other 2 grids are full of companies that Generate, Transmit, and distribute their electric. they are not run by three different companies. That little ice storm you had would have been taken care of in a couple of days anywhere else in the country. I was there in Austin when it happened, it was comical the way it was handled. 30 plus years working as a contractor for Utility companies and i have never seen incompetance at such a scale. The hotel i was in never lost power, but lost water for days, lol.

How come every time I research backup generators and alternative power supplies the data is full of stories about frequent outages from ice storms in the North?
