Definitely the best, most in-depth car reviews on UA-cam. Thanks again for all the effort you put into your reviews, they tick at the boxes. Keep the humour up Thomas, it adds icing to the cake. 🏴👍🏻
My first car was a Mini Classic & then the B - Class. I have travelled from Cape Point to Oshikango, Swakopmund to Gobabis, it's one of the most reliable car, I have ever owned if you ask me. It will forever be the love of my life. If I turn 40, I will still own a B -Class.They are magical cars.
Thomas thanks for the very thorough review. Very interesting perspective on the B class I have not heard from other journalists. Love the fact you review each vehicle on its merits and not based on preconceptions. Keep up the great work.
I found this review very interesting and totally agree with you. I see this car as almost perfect compact luxury family car: super stylish both interior and exterior, superb assistant systems. It's only interesting to see what would be left of these if you pick really base spec, maybe that changes much, because price is often really sensitive issue in family cars segment.
4000 euros for those 10.25 screens and 400 extra for carplay and still no wireless carplay.....they are really dragging their feet in the motor industry
Excellent video as always, Thomas at his best!!! I would request for a (however, shorter) video on the updated B Class version 2022/23. I know, there isn’t too much new there, but still enough for a new Autogefühl video 😊
@@autogefuehl no problem but can you guys make a review of the mercedes b class 2022 or 2023? because my mom is gonna buy that car so I want a review like this if its posssible.
Great review. I love Autogefuhl reviews (esp with Thomas). The intelligent systems on this car are fantastic. Parking, collision avoidance, blind-pot, and adaptive cruise control, are better than anything I have seen on other vehicles.
I got my B-class about a month ago, so I can share my experience: Design wise, it looks like a potato (but, as my friend say, a nice potato :-), but I don't mind that. Actually, all new Mercedes non-SUV models look like potatoes to me 🙂 Anyway, good points: B200D engine is powerful, pretty quiet (for a diesel), and also economical. That makes it the perfect highway cruiser (never mind the max speed of 219 km/h, where I live 130 is the max allowed speed). Economical engine and excellent aerodynamic gives a quiet ride with low consumption (on flat surface and cruise control set to 100 km/h, it will run at 1500 rpm and take 3-3.5 l per 100 km). In this days of expensive fuel, it is also good to know the hypermiling trick - set the radar controlled cruise control to follow the semi trailer (they run at 90 km/h where I live), and depending on the set distance, the consumption will drop to 2.5 liters or even less. What I don't like so much: The ride quality is nothing to write home about (even with 16" rims), it is a far cry from the Mercedes from the past. I heard Mercedes complaining that young people are not buying their cars because those are not "sporty" enough (and by "sporty" they mean un-comfortable, I guess). So the B-class is pretty "sporty"... Also the ground clearance is too low to my taste, I managed to scratch the plastic cover on some speed bumps already. I guess this is to improve aerodynamics. Also don't try to park with the nose over the curb - it is way too low for that. The seating is more 4+1 than a proper 5-seater (passenger in the middle seat in the back is sitting on the hump, leaning his back on another hump, and without room for his feet because of the very big driveshaft tunnel. And the gearbox - I would much prefer the manual, but DSG was the only option. It is marginally better then VW DSG, but still have initial hesitation from standstill that makes it difficult to modulate acceleration properly. It is fine for leisurely ride, but i if you try to start a bit quicker, it can be tricky - if you are not careful with the gas pedal, first there is a gap about half second, after that the acceleration is stronger than expected so it may surprise you.
Just added the all electric B class to our garage. It also included the C250, one of the rare 300CEs, the 300SLD long range limo, and our R350 4Matic which we use for photoshoots and heading out to the yacht. I have to say, the B class is one awesome bundle of fun.. added close to 100 miles in the first day we owned it, just to test if out.. a Tesla S we passed was impressed.. (y)
It is really interesting what you said about the rear seats being the best of the Mercedes lineup. It would be cool to see a video where you compare all the rear seats you have been in and range the best ones. Personally I am really impressed by the Tiguan and the B-class in this regard.

@@autogefuehl I am disappointed with your answer. I am interested in B-class primarily because of the pleasant and quiet driving on poor tarmac, and what I hear does not inspire confidence . For example, the new Ford Focus is extremely quiet on poor tarmac and is a much cheaper car. Isn't the noise heard in the car the result of AMG trim and 19 "wheels, not bad tarmac? What's the noise level with 16" wheels in comfort mode?
You were impressed with the rear seating/space! And Mercedes keeping ahead in the assistance systems? I enjoyed your yachtgefuhl! Excellent driving part and commentary Thomas. At 51:31 'augmented' and satnav didn't work again (like the recent GLE!) - "Live on tape". Overall, it'll be interesting to see if Golf 8 can keep up. Many thanks for your work.
Hahahah when you said yachts and b-class have something in common I thought you're going to say the turning circle :D You really did make the B class review interesting though, great as always :)
The MPV market is deteriorating but it does not stop Mercedes from producing the B-Class MPV. The new B-Class is more rounder compared to its predecessor, has clever autonomous driving technology which can now detect static objects and a super smooth ride with high driving position from a SUV. Overall, this won't put buyers off the new B-Class.
Hallo Thomas, das war m. E. dein bestes Video.
Thank you Autogefuhl for linking me to this video after asking about the assistance systems. It makes me more satisfied now, especially with my 2017 W123 which premiered this technology. My concern was that the assistance systems only work under distronic, and now i understand it doesn't. Thanks
Thanks! Yes indeed very interesting. Always depends on which package u have and which feature was standard for which model year. In 2017 autonomous emergency brake should have been standard already afaik
Oh hey, Thomas! 😱 I had no idea you guys had a video on the B-Class; one of my favourites! Thankfully UA-cam recommended this video to me. You were right, a review on a B-Class can be entertaining. Other reviewers barely even touch on this vehicle. I am glad you went on for over an hour on this cute little, but very roomy, thing! Amazing video, Thomas! Cheers! 🤗
Sorry, I don't like the interior, those air vents are too in your face if you excuse the pun. The steering wheel looks dreadful with that aluminium around the buttons which I think will be distracting to always be seeing while driving. Also, the dash display just looks stuck on, that should have a more incorporated look. The outside looks fine but the doors should have been made to cover the cills, to save your legs getting dirty when the car is not clean. I like the extra ways you are kept safe with all the warnings about bikes coming across while driving and reversing. Also, like the fact that in auto park it changes gear from forward to reverse. A pretty good car, but a LOT of money, too expensive for me. Very well presented by Thomas, keep up the good work you are doing.
31:35 He avoids the question you ask here. "Presafe" system is an optional feature and it costs about €700 if I recall correctly. I think they are aware it should also be included for free as a standard feature. Edit: It costs €392.
The city emergency braking system is great on all these modern cars but if the rear car doesn’t have the system ie for example a bus or lorry, you could get rear ended violently as the brake system engages quite aggressively
Thomas, another amazing review. On your parking assist question, I had a W212 (last generation E Klass) with the parallel parking assist. I did not use it very much, because I live in an area with very little parallel parking. On a trip I was forced to parallel park in a tiny parking lot covered is compact snow and ice, more ice than snow, that was at an extreme angle with a massive snow bank at edge of the parking space. My car did a perfect job parking in the spot, it even allowed room to open all four doors next to the snow bank. I know, I know MB says the system should not be used like this but I am so happy it worked. So.... long story short when I was buying my new W213 (current E Klass) parking pilot was on my list of must have options. The only thing I do not like about parking pilot is in the US the remote parking is disabled, that is very disappointing to say the least.
Can you change the display so that the speedometer is on the right and the rev counter on the left? For some reason I hate it when it is this way around like in the video.
is this true, all b class models have this safety features? my parents are looking this car and it sales guy mentioned it doesn't have radar braking on one, we were looking at (1,5 diesel).
Sounds much noisier at 48:00 when driving at 100 kph, than my B200 CDi AMG (W246) Had you got the windows down and where was the Mike ? What happened to the SAT-NAV at 50:00 ! - Didn't you get verbal instructions ½ mile, ¼ mile before to instruct you to turn right ? My €40 Sat Nav is better than this ! or as I more often use recently my Android SmartPhone with Google Maps and Traffic updates (Which via Bluetooth works through the speakers, and I can also say OK Google Navigate to home) Great very thorough review, most impressed with a lot of new features that I had the opportunity to be part of a Customer Survey at Dortmund December 2016 where a prototype was shown, very much like this Model, but with unfinished interior (Cardboard Dash with Pictures) I was told in a one/one interview that the new engines would be 25% smaller, but produce more power. This does not appear to be the case however, other than the Petrol Versions. As far as consumption I regularly get on a run over 50 miles (80 Km) 72 MPG / 25.63 Km per Litre. Can't believe the 'Steering Input' at 59:45 - over 45° - can't remember doing that much unless Parking ? Mind you I normally 'feed the wheel' and keep my hands at 10 to 2 Comfort Mode ? Do you mean Eco Mode ? I only use Sport Mode (rarely) when need to move on quickly. It really makes a difference in faster acceleration and revs engine more. Have driven the roads in Mallorca you tested on many times and know them well, but not in a B200 Mercedes, as rent a car when on holiday there in Cala Bona. At 1:06:48 what's all that about "Silver" went out years ago, I had one of the first (W245) in Silver collected from Rastatt in 2006, my B200 CDi AMG Line (W246) is White and would go for that again. And for goodness sakes stop calling it a VAN, whilst not as pretty as Lily James, far more practical, I can get 2 bikes in the rear with seats down easily, I love mine and in the past have had 190E/230E/280SE/380SLC/420SE and this is the best. (135mph sat nav genuine, 140 mph Speedo) and 72.4 mpg (not at the same time mind you)
Hi Thomas I love your videos but honestly, 1h10 is too long ... Could you for example add bookmarks in the video so people can directly go to the practicability or driving part ?
Answering to you Thomas, i use GLA 2017 pre-facelift in Zurich and i never used manual parking. It would be nice to know if any advance when you review new GLB, GLC facelifting and so on
It looks very low to the ground. Fully loaded how will it cope with speed humps? Presumably there's a new GLA in the pipeline given there's already a new A class. Wouldn't the GLA and B class be pretty much competing against each other? The interior has more shiny bits than a gypsy caravan and far too much bling for my taste. The big screen also doesn't do it for me, reminiscent of the big old instrument binnacles of the 70's.
Great review, subjective, comprehensive and entertaining. Thank you.I had been looking for a facelift W218 CLS Estate but think this might be a better long term buy.
I wished Mercedes-Benz offers this model in the USA, powered by the same 180 bhp (135 kW) drivetrain as the new A220 saloon that just went on sale in the country.
Dear Thomas , so this is premium and expensive one isn’t it ? Hope this one contrary to A class it’s Pedals are not offsite to right which makes your left foot painful . How about GLA type please . Which one is more comfy .
fantastic review, Thomas... Mercedes gets cool now, I am missing though more powerful petrol engines or mild hybrids which will likely come eventually.
When driving and the car automatically stops to avoid pedestrians...do you have your foot on the accelerator as if driving normally or was the cruise control required to be activated and the car stops anyway??
Why when you say "Hey Mercedes" does the text and audio not match... Kind of thing would drive me nuts "How can I help you" = How may I help you" Not the attention to detail I would expect.
I think all the safety and parking systems are great but I'd much rather park myself using the cameras and the sensors. It's much quicker doing it yourself!
Thanks to Canada’s protectionist vehicle regulations we can no longer buy the B-Class here. They’ve replaced it with the A-Class instead of offering both. The European manufacturers need to force Canada to allow euro-specs vehicles to be imported.
could there be a review of all or some of the older bmw m3s? Maybe even in-depth and go through the features of the older ones e.g. E36,E46,etc. Just an idea, although i understand that this channel mainly focuses on newer cars.
Im considering buying a 2019 b class, but Im wondering how good the sound system is. I spend alot of time on the road, and I like to continue my meetings on the road for appointments and work, as well as for social work, but I want to hear people clearly, and I want them to hear me clearly. Is the sound system good in the 2019 B model?
The sound quality is amazing even the default speakers and sub woofer is nice but you can pay a bit more and get burmister speakers which r even better I just bought a bclass 2020 with sports pack awesome car
so you have tested a b-class merc with a diesel engine.thank goodness they are still making diesel engines.the newer ones are not that polluting are they?
@@autogefuehl Thank you for your replying.Good to know that maybe, diesel, still has a future in the motor industry.Your reviews are so detailed. For me,the best.Stay healthy and strong and have a wonderful 2019.

Answering to you Thomas, i use GLA 2017 pre-facelift in Zurich and i never used manual parking. It would be nice to know if any advance when you review new GLB, GLC facelifting and so on
Thanks! UA-cam search Autogefuehl mercedes glb to find the review!
Will Mercedes offer an B-Class with 4Matic? Probably the 220d?
they ll surely add that later
We have B250s 4matic here in Canada
Очень хороший автомобиль, и качественный обзор!))) very good!)
Thank you just bought this car and I'm happy with my purchase, this really is a all rounder car.
Thank you thomas....
If we got this in the US I'd replace my C-Max with it
Great review, subjective, comprehensive and entertaining. Thank you.I had been looking for a facelift W218 CLS Estate but think this might be a better long term buy.
What about the new 1.5L petrol on the c class
Is that made by Renault too?
Good point. Thats an exception since its new and downsized mhev engine. Pure mercedes. Seen in our c200 review!
Looks like a great car, I wonder will the new GLA be as practical as B-Class while looking cooler and sportier.
I wished Mercedes-Benz offers this model in the USA, powered by the same 180 bhp (135 kW) drivetrain as the new A220 saloon that just went on sale in the country.
Much better than the hideously naff previous model. Not a fan of this style car, but yet another great review mate.
Would be great if you guys start producing videos in 4k quality :) Loving your channel and its contents.
We would love to! Bandwidth is the problem
Dear Thomas , so this is premium and expensive one isn’t it ? Hope this one contrary to A class it’s Pedals are not offsite to right which makes your left foot painful .
How about GLA type please .
Which one is more comfy .
Sure it remains expensive, but not in comparison to other Mercedes cars
Hi Thomas, how's the new 8 speed dual clutch transmission performed?thanks
very nice imho
Love this car! Very Nice
Awesome car. Great review. Lets just hope there is going to be a B35 4matic version
Cheers!
fantastic review, Thomas... Mercedes gets cool now, I am missing though more powerful petrol engines or mild hybrids which will likely come eventually.
✌️
When driving and the car automatically stops to avoid pedestrians...do you have your foot on the accelerator as if driving normally or was the cruise control required to be activated and the car stops anyway??
Depends on. The autonomous emergency brake will work in any case. The cruise control stop only works when you don’t have the foot on the throttle
Why when you say "Hey Mercedes" does the text and audio not match... Kind of thing would drive me nuts
"How can I help you" = How may I help you"
Not the attention to detail I would expect.
What type of foreign engine is fitted to the mercedes 180 or 200 ? Is a Nissan and not a Mercedes engine
May I ask you what lens you have on the Sony camera at 28:46?
I think all the safety and parking systems are great but I'd much rather park myself using the cameras and the sensors. It's much quicker doing it yourself!
Why not expand this review showing the movable rear bench?
Wasnt available yet at that time
@@autogefuehl I understand but Wednesday will be presented new GLA and you can use your resources for 2 in 1: New GLA vs B rear bench modularity.
Always liked the B Class. Like it more now. Thanks for the excellent review.
What is that vibration Thomas? it's the camera or the car vibrate ? Look the steering wheel at 53:08
Hm dunno but didn’t feel anything i remember
Wow, the car's assistant already works better than Siri.
Very enjoyable. Surprising car. Thanks.
Thanks to Canada’s protectionist vehicle regulations we can no longer buy the B-Class here. They’ve replaced it with the A-Class instead of offering both. The European manufacturers need to force Canada to allow euro-specs vehicles to be imported.
Can t wait for the GLB 2019.
could there be a review of all or some of the older bmw m3s? Maybe even in-depth and go through the features of the older ones e.g. E36,E46,etc. Just an idea, although i understand that this channel mainly focuses on newer cars.
Are there any differences form the a class hatchback
Im considering buying a 2019 b class, but Im wondering how good the sound system is. I spend alot of time on the road, and I like to continue my meetings on the road for appointments and work, as well as for social work, but I want to hear people clearly, and I want them to hear me clearly. Is the sound system good in the 2019 B model?
The sound quality is amazing even the default speakers and sub woofer is nice but you can pay a bit more and get burmister speakers which r even better I just bought a bclass 2020 with sports pack awesome car
First like than I watch :)
way to go =)
Thanks for such a comprehensive review, Thomas! How is the downshift and upshift? Does it feel jerky like the previous generation?
Thanks! Not at all, seen the last driving part of this episode?
Great review, I would drive a B Class no problem, I wish they would integrate the screens better into the dash.
Isn't the new MBUX UI supposed to support wireless Apple Carplay?
Not yet at least
Do you also make a review of the a class sedan?
yeah planning to do so as soon as available
so you have tested a b-class merc with a diesel engine.thank goodness they are still making diesel engines.the newer ones are not that polluting are they?
They have pretty clean test results indeed
@@autogefuehl Thank you for your replying.Good to know that maybe, diesel, still has a future in the motor industry.Your reviews are so detailed. For me,the best.Stay healthy and strong and have a wonderful 2019.
thanks, u too!
Excellent review, thanks a lot! Are the A class and B class the only cars (below 60K EUR) that have the new Mercedes twin touch pad dash board? (MUXH or whatever it was called)
Thanks 🙏 no more already have it now, like CLA and Sprinter. And the GLE
nice interior, I'm waiting soon launching Mercedes GLB SUV which have same interior & nice digital Instrument plus 7 seater.
