Really smart redesign, eliminating the van-ish characteristics, while retaining the practicality. Also, great job by Thomas in highlighting the rear seat comfort!

Front and tail lights are even nicer than A-Class, IMO
Looks cool like the A-class but more practical, i think it's perfect hot hatch for "cool parents" who still wanna drive a premium hot hatch like the a class but needs more room for their baby stuff 😅

I think they have succeeded with their task design-wise. Much more attractive than the previous design.

Just got my 2019 b180 sport 1.3 auto, absolutely love it apart from hesitation from the gearbox when setting off..is there a fix for this do you know???
I really really like this so much. It is like a no compromise hatchback with a lot of space. Better rear leg room, better headroom, better boot space. And honestly I love the looks. I think these looks will divide opinion less than the A Class, CLS and new GLE which may be more daring. But I love all their designs of late. It has something German cars didn't really have and that's emotion. BMW and Audi design is a bit bland and generic but Mercedes is making good looking cars that have somewhat unique design imo.
Well, I found this new generation nicely designed, and much more beautiful than previous models (which were already nice)...it's not supposed to be a sports car, but it's doing the job of practicality, compact size, sufficient space, and nice looking.

As usual great review, the 1st few seconds made me smile, you said “it’s been redesigned from scrape” when the saying is “it’s been redesigned from scratch”. Scrape and scratch mean almost the same thing but in that phrase it’s scratch not scrape. Although I’m being picky because you’re English is fantastic/ impressive, your accent is very clear too.

Look very nice I have the old b class and I love so cant wait to get this one
I have been driving the W246 200CDI, SE trim , manual gearbox,for 2 years now, I did around 70 000 km so far. A good car, nice visibility,economical - averaging 4,8l/100km . Seating position for driver is good, with plenty of adjustment, back seats have more room comparing to C and E class even. The very practical tables are missing now, my wife loves them , especially when feeding the toddler. Boot space is not the greatest. Very agile in city environment, bit noisy on motorway. Good quality so far, no major issues. I regret about no spending more on optional glass sunroof and automatic gearbox. Lovely car.

I have the current B Class, it seems this new one is an improvement over the current in most aspects, except the default seating position boot space where the current model is slightly bigger and that cheap looking parcel shelf...
The back of the car looks great, looks very much like the GLC which is not a bad thing at all.
Perhaps B Class will become more popular this time round, granting an opportunity to create an AMG version.

Very good design, it could attract more A-class buyers. The old B-class looks like an old grandpa car or moms car.
This 20419 model looks more sporty and could fits well with younger people that are interested in A-class

It became more sporty but inside volume has been shrunk compare to W246 B class.
That was quick! The car looks great. Finally a German MPV that's better than the Picasso.

Great overview Thomas and Holger! I actually thought the B Class looked not too bad at all before and it has improved even more with this new generation. The Mercedes interiors are beginning to look and feel better. I have found them to be a little plastic/hollow at times. Not solid and sure, as one might find in a Volkswagen Group car. One thing is for sure, the speech recognition is pretty darn good. Looking forward to the driving review!

Great video. I have some experience with previous gen of B class and I will sum up my imression:
I'm a bit upset with the new appearance. Less boxy shape and longer bonnet/nose... I don't personally like it that much. Hopefully there's still plenty of headroom.
Finally mercedes presented movable rear seat! Oh my, even nissan pulsar has one, not speaking about golf plus and other rivals. Come on, merc, it's 2019 almost :)
Interior. Very sad that they decided to replace rear folding shelf/curtain with the solid and non folding one. On w246 it was very handy and easy to place smth relatively high into the trunk with just folding the shelf. And here it's not possible anymore - you have to take off the shelf and put it somewhere. Weird... It's a family small mpv (kids, sport stuff, etc.) and it's not expensive to equip a car with such a simple equipment. Makes no sense in this particular case. Again, IMHO.
The car is not so heavy and I'd personally chose 1.3 petrol with 7g dct. Even 109-hp diesel on w246 is very punchy, meaning that 136-hp petrol will be comparably quick and sufficient for city and highway both. Also, I hope that they will save the lightest steering I've ever seen. It's not helpful with sporty style driving but what a joy maneuvering in city!

Well the Golf SV is WAY cheaper than the other 2....
@@autogefuehl You'd be surprised. By the time you spec a high end SV GT with all the trimmings and a glass roof the price is right up there with the other 2! But it's probably WAY cheaper to run! 😊

From scratch Thomas, not from scrape. The taillights are much better than on the A-Class. I really think they kill the looks on the A. Would look better with those ones here.

Why anyone need A class ? Now b class look same share same platform,machanicles and interior design . It is more spacious, comfortable and much more practical . It will give almost same driving experience as a class . To me it's better than a class

the overall exterior design is better than the a class. more pure, more simple. But the big front logo is ugly. Overall better than a class.
MBUX: The voice says 'How can I help you?' but on the screen it's the correct 'How may I help you?' Mildly interesting.

Personally, I couldn't define this car shape design! I feel Mecedes-Benz cars are loosing a lot and if they continue the way this car looks here, sure they will end like Peugeot!
The outside design is really nice, the overall setup of the car is actually really nice. I will say though that the interior design just like with the new A-Class is... ugly... sorry but I hate these two screens there they look more like an afterthought than a well integrated environment.
