    I wish so much that people would do their research before getting pets, it would prevent this so much

    Even the easy to keep smaller species are seen. I wonder why. I have a musk turtle and they stay small and a simple to care for

      Probably because no matter how hard we try. People are optimistic and think they know enough, and the though of having some is often nicer then actually having to deal with the care. .. but also.. live is live and live often sucks or messes with your plans. If been to many shelters for many animals. And the #1 reason for rehoming is stuff people rather did not endure. Decease or death, divorce, financial issues or whatever live throws at us. I believe a reptile shelter in UK has some great numbers on this.

      This is so valuable as a keeper to see and ask, im asking because im 35 and i have a musk turtle from a hatchling. I would ideally love to keep him for my lifetime, I love the little guy and have had him for a year. It’s scary to think about 30 years down the line all the stuff that can happen.

      Agree. I do think its worth mentioning that this centre is up and running for 25 years. And as turtles get very old. They will also accumalate over all those years. But indeed... id rather wont see it.

    How do the outdoor turtles do during winter?

    • @terrariumchannel
      @terrariumchannel  10 днів тому +3

      They hibernate outside. In and along the ponds.

    You should put the common name of the animals not the Latin name. Other than that assume video

      Ich finde es gut das die wissenschaftlichen Namen verwendet werden. Damit kann man zu einen Verwechslungen vorbeugen und Zuschauer aus verschiedenen Ländern wissen genauso schnell was gemeint ist.

      Thanks for the feedback. But in this case I only use scientifc names by intention and wont exchange them. Common names differ to much depending on country.
