    I have to admit Sara that Origami is not my hobby but I just looooove your accent, you help me get to sleep at night. Thanks and congrats on the baby!

    @CSquadNY Splitting the video in two won't make it shorter - just more pulled apart. As to spending less time on explaining, my experience has shown that if I go faster fewer people will understand and I'll get tons more questions. So I prefer to err on adding a bit too much detail, than too little.

  • @Happyfolding
    @Happyfolding  12 років тому

    If you cut parallel to the long edge, your strips will be 8.5 by 11/16in. That makes a ratio of 1 by 20.7... - and the two long strips need a ratio of 1 by 14. So, yes, that'll be ok.
    As to using A4 - that's 21cm by 29.7cm, and will give you strips with a ratio of 1 by 22.6, so that will be plenty, too.
    I'd suggest you cut two long strips (each 1/16), and then divide the rest of the long strips into approx. thirds. That will give you 42 shorter strips, which is more than enough.

  • @Happyfolding
    @Happyfolding  12 років тому

    @goncaloshred Yes, you can use any square number (9, 16, 25, ...). You'll just have to adapt the way the cubes are connected.

  • @YiannisDendrinos

    Fantastic! I managed it! Very beautiful. Just have to be very accurate with the cutting and edges

  • @Happyfolding
    @Happyfolding  12 років тому

    @MissAmme3 Sure, you'll need shorter strips of paper to connect the cubes in that case.

  • @Happyfolding
    @Happyfolding  12 років тому

    @Oridom66 That depends on the width of the strips. if they're thin enough, yes.

    My "3-D Origami" class at Duke University's OLLI is using Miyuki Kawamura's "Polyhedron Origami for Beginners." Starts with basic folds - tiles, bricks, and then progresses to polyhedrons of 10 types. The 'hook' that got me a decade ago was the picture of a 90-piece Truncated Icosahedral Star. Took days, but I finally got it after folding the simpler things in the book.

    Hello! i love your tutorials, they are great, it is easy to understand them and you are the one that helped me alot with origami when i was a total begginer. Tried some more cmplex models, failed miserabily, tried easier models, gained experience :)
    by the way, do you own a diagram for Llopio's moment of truth??? or in what book it could be found, i would like to try it myself

    How do you think it would look if you made the longer 1x14 strip half it's width and a different colour?

  • @SpeedHunter15
    @SpeedHunter15 13 років тому

    I thought it was necessary to use thick paper. I used 120 g/m^2 and its falling apart. I might need some help. If it helps, the assembly of the cubes and the wall itself was a bit different...Thank you.

    I got the same strips, just smaller and specifically made for Geometric origami, will those work?

  • @Happyfolding

    (You can cut off the excess once you've folded the shorter strips into boxes.)

      I don’t think so, only because the hinges on top of the face might stop the rest of the model from moving.

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  6 років тому

      Heinz Strobl usually uses punched tape (in the unpunched form): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_tape - it's hard to find nowadays, though. But you can also use paper strips sold for weaving paper or folding lucky stars.
