Just wanna thank you for this video, I thought it is difficult to change the speakers but you described pretty well all steps to do it. I'm gonna upgrade it tomorrow. Thanks tho
Thank you for this video and your tips. The two-screw attachment in the back, the front cover removal, tossing the old ‘speakers in a can’, the toolkit, the wiring harnesses, all of it... everything came together nicely. I went with Infinity speakers front and back (my own personal preference).
Hey great video. Just did the job and I'm very happy with the upgrade. Just note that the link to the Pioneer 4x6 speakers now goes to a link for a speaker with a different dimension. Make sure you get 4x6.
Noticed your OEM front speakers were 8 Ohm and the Alpines that you installed were 4 Ohm. That's half the impedance of the original speakers and that's why the new ones sound distorted at high levels. The rear ones have the correct impedance (4 Ohm).
Vladimir Lekov thank you for pointing this out. I got these speaker recommendations from a forum post and did not check the impedence myself but would make sense they are unbalanced. Do you see any issue with me continuing to use them with adjusted fade compensating for the difference in power delivered?
Using them this way shortens the life of the voice coils, but those speakers can handle quite a bit of power so as long as you're not blasting the stereo all the time they should be fine. They won't last as long as the rear ones though.
Hey Josh, I just picked up a Chevy Spark Ev and this video was incredibly helpful. Is the link for the 72-9300's still correct? it takes me to a listing for Mazda/Nissan Adapters that don't look quite right.
Yes that looks to still be correct, please note I highly recommend soldering inline 4ohm power resistors to the front speakers to avoid the issue I experienced with too much power going to them.
Good question, based on specs those seem to be higher rated and 3 way so there is a good chance? Note, I'm currently looking into adding some resistors to the front speakers to match the impressive of the stock speakers (8 ohms)
Will those Metra cables work for a 2014 chevy spark 1LT i'm not sure if they are any different, I don't want to buy something meant for a Nissan/Mazda for a chevy vehicle if it for sure won't work.
Josh Vasquez gotcha, I bought them on amazon, so I can return then just in case. I have an infinity 12 inch sealed 4 Ohm, on a Boss 1100watt peak /433WRMS at 4 ohm. Wanted to upgrade all 4 speakers and bought boss tweeter/speakers. Going for something similar with what you did, I have bass, just want the clarity now. Installing them tomorrow if the wires connectors work.
Hey I have a 2014 Spark and my main problem is they don’t project a good bass. Would replacing the speakers like this do the trick or is there something else I may need to do?
in all honestly, while replacing the speakers definitely improved sound clarity, they only marginally improved bass. If you really want more bass I would look into having a powered sub installed.
been talking with crutchfield and they have been trying to get me to buy 4'' speakers for the back also. Do you know if a 4 inch will fit ok or should i go with the 4x6''?
Shadownian from my understanding, 4" speakers generally have better sound quality than 4x6's but 4x6's are usually louder. Not sure if a 4" will drop straight in there or if you might need an adapter plate. Also pay attention to Ohms when selecting your speakers.. another user posted the fronts I used might be the wrong Ohms which is why I had to move the fader toward the back
I just got my Spark EV and was wondering if anyone else looked into sound deadening. I'd love to install the speakers as well, but just want to reduce cabin noise first.
I have not had an issue with the stock head unit powering the speakers. There is a discussion on the ohm difference but I've heard that to be negligible.
Great question! Sort of depends how much the current system bothers you. I'm happy I did it but to be fair maybe it was a 35% improvement or so? Hard to say unless I had both systems side by side.
I'm late to the party but I just tried installing those same model rear speakers into my 2014 LT and they sound extremely tinny and quiet. Like they aren't getting enough power or something.
Thanks for this. Just got my Spark EV and the stereo sounds like it's underwater.
Thank you man I've been trying to figure this out for months on the front speakers!
Just wanna thank you for this video, I thought it is difficult to change the speakers but you described pretty well all steps to do it. I'm gonna upgrade it tomorrow. Thanks tho
Carlos Rivas no problem, good luck!
Did you end up buying this same set up?

Excellent, glad i could help!

Awesome, thank you for the input. I just updated the video description to update the link.
Thanks for this video! Saved me a lot of time / research! :)

thank you very much from Uzbekistan
thank you, the video was very helpful,
You name must Geico , 'cause you just save me over $100.00 Thanks man.
Carlos Pagan awesome, glad to hear!
This is inspirational because man... Those stock speakers are just bad.. thanks for posting this video!
right i am going to swap out just the rear speakers and put the fade on a bit stronger

I found for the front speakers pioneer TS-G1030F is better or the ones that you used are better? Thank you for the helpful video

To be honest I'm not completely sure. I'd give it a shot, make sure there is a return available, and just return them if necessary.

hello, can i get a recommendation for a better sound quality, as well i wanna put a board like yours with android, i got a chevy 2011

@@tehjosheh thank you so much!!
Thank you for the helpful video, will these speakers work on a 2011 spark?
Hi, to be honest I'm not certain. If you plan to give it a shot please report back if it worked!
did you have any issues with the 4 ohm vs the 8ohm speakers? did the head unit handle it for you?
also curious about 3 ohms

Hi, nice video :) you think is the same for a Chevy Matiz? I have probably the same stock speakers
TiJ The Italian Job in all honesty I'm not sure! There might be some forums that discuss speaker replacement on that car
I just got my Spark EV and was wondering if anyone else looked into sound deadening. I'd love to install the speakers as well, but just want to reduce cabin noise first.
That's a good idea, I hadn't looked into it myself. What kind of tires do you have? I hear they can make a big difference on road noise
@@tehjosheh I assume new ones, but they look like stock specs since it was purchased from Carvana.
Hi. Is the stock head unit strong enough to handle the upgraded speakers? Or do I need to install a amp also?
I have not had an issue with the stock head unit powering the speakers. There is a discussion on the ohm difference but I've heard that to be negligible.
I need help finding the harness for a 2014 chevy spark can anyone help thank you
should the speaker harness work with any speaker? i just bought some pioneers
Hi, my guess without seeing the specific parts is the harnesses should work. Let us know how it goes!
Josh Vasquez i installed today and everything went great. thank you soooo much your video was so helpful
Josh Vasquez i have a 2013 spark, now i just gotta put in the rear speakers some day soon!
Awesome, glad to hear! Is your model an electric model or gas?
Josh Vasquez just gas, i wish it was electric lol
What was the song when he showing the front speakers? It was lit!
Ray Fox second that request
What are sizes of both pair of speakers? Front dask bord size & back side speaker size ?
All parts details are in the description, fronts are 4" and rears are 4"x6"
I have to know that song playing at 5:35 when you were doing the sound test! Please! 🙏🏻
No worries, I think it is Le Youth - COOL (Ben Pearce Remix) ua-cam.com/video/_YAiKGP5cEM/v-deo.html
Josh Vasquez OMG! thank you so much! I just got this car and speakers suck. I feel good enough to change them myself after watching your video!
Question do u lose the ev setting if u replace the stereo
I do not know as I've only upgraded my speakers. I have not tried messing with the stereo.
Is it worth it?
Great question! Sort of depends how much the current system bothers you. I'm happy I did it but to be fair maybe it was a 35% improvement or so? Hard to say unless I had both systems side by side.
What year is your spark, I have a 2014 and looking to upgrade speakers
Angelo Cruz mine is a 2016. Not sure if it's the same for 2014 but it might be, you did verify.
Josh Vasquez thanks I will try today and see how that goes
