That's the tragedy of the relationship between light hope and Mara. They truly cared about each other, but the programming of the "first ones" (I am going to assume that they were ancient eternians) drove them apart. I think that Adora recognized this at the end, but didn't have the time to process it due to the threat of Horde prime. It was because light hope loved Mara that Adora was able to stop the heart of etheria from being used in season 4. I miss light hope as much as Mara. They both sadly didn't get a happy ending.
By the end of the war, Grayskull no longer cared *how* he won, only that he did.
Actually, the first ones were people from an empire outside of etheria that made etheria one of its colonies, both the First Ones (An etherian name) and Horde Prime were people with galaxic empires. Horde Prime and the first ones were vying for control 1000 years ago. The heart of etheria was intended to be a driectable nuke (Like Starkill base) to be used against Horde Prime it is unclear how many deaths and how much damage it would do. However, by the time of Adora, the heart would have taken the whole or a majority of the universe with it. Horde Prime attempted to use it to burn the entire universe.
Mara be out here turning the First Ones' AIs gay. It's amazing.

The way the Lighthope fought her own emotions are Mara and decided to delete her only memory of them together-

That scene where Light Hope is struggling against her programming and breaks through because of the memory of Mara bringing her flowers makes me cry every time. It's not Mara's sacrifice that caused her change of heart, it's just a small moment between two friends that Light Hope couldn't forget even when she actively tried to. I don't buy that they were gay for each other. In some ways, I think it's more powerful that Light Hope refused her programming for a friend instead of a lover.
It hurt a lot when light hope deleted the memory of her and mara

I really love this couple mara and light hope is such a devastating and tragic story, but the message how love can change people just how it changed light hope and even though light hope erased her memories of mara earlier because of her programming so she can go through with the heart of etheria project, in the last minute light hope gave in and remembered those memories of mara that brought her warmth and love and this is through what adora was saying right before she gave into those memories of mara thus letting adora break the sword. Then light hope says thank you to adora, thanks for reminding light hope that she is more than just a programming and the love she and mara had for each other was real.... wow the ending of season 4 of shera was impeccable
what I've noticed, is that, the whole remembering part, she sounded like a hologram, a robot. and when she did say thank you, she sounded, well, normal!

I never thought I would ship a freaking hologram. These writers gave us everything. Not really shipping them as a couple (bc not everything has to be romatically made...) but as a friendship so deep that even a hologram basically went wreak havoc with all her operative system to help Adora and the others.

Light hope is one of my favorite characters.. She isn't the bad guy. She's just confused.. I hate how people blame her for something she was designed to do, she doesn't know it's bad, I lover her so so so much

Mara's story is basically a semesters worth of post war modernist existentialism written in a very meaningful and clever way.
ikr. i love she ra because it adds so many things into one i never thought even possible. like u have cool fantasy princesses with sparkle powers AND u get a cool sci fi futuristic world with technology. u get to see parties and very people-based conflict (aka war) AND also have planets and super evil villains. it is hilarious but also moving. she ra, i must say, is unlike any other fantasy world i have _ever_ seen. normally u see steampunk or just plain dystopia or D&D rip-off fantasy. the worldbuilding is mysterious and always unravelling in ways you wouldn't forsee but after the fact be like "oh why didn't i think of that" which is so unlike anything i have ever seen.
but she ra is a breath of fresh air. it reminds me of ATLA, actually
