I have gotten so many great ideas from you, Linda. Thank you very much. One of them is the Canon Ivy printer. Now I can use it to print out those "money shots" you talked about. Then I put the pics in my gardeners journal. I had printed out a satellite view from Google Earth of my house. Then I numbered each garden bed. (I have 19 garden areas!) On the picture I mark the garden number of its location. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience.

The flash back of the beginning of lemon lane was so funny to me. That man suggested 8 or 9 trees! Your face said it all as did mine. How could grow a blooming garden under 9 trees? It served to take you awhile to register that suggestion. He could not see your vision. You made it just right

When the garden designer suggested 8 or 9 trees, when you first moved in and nothing was yet done, I just can't imagine that. He suggested large trees...where would they all fit? Your gardens are so beautiful, beautifully designed with just enough trees for the size of your front property. 😊

Gardening is alot of work but obvious you love your garden and conscientious about taking good care of all that is thriving well. Love your white wedding hydrangea's! I spent a good amount of time today outside early because it was a very humid day here in Indiana but took short breaks and kept going. Thanks for your tours that are fun & inspiring to watch!

On the hottest days, I'm out at 4:45 AM as soon as it gets light, and I get it done by 9:00 AM before the heat and sun get overwhelming. I need a mosquito jacket and hood/face cover at that time but its ok. (I have a 1/2 acre garden though :) )

Linda, now that you are mentioning angles in the garden, I noticed your rain bird sprinkler system and irrigation operation on the corner of the house! Could we maybe get a video in the future regarding the zones and what is on sprinkler vs. drip? I think it would be super beneficial as to how that whole operation works. Thank you!!

I used to have 2 large sized bird baths. In our hot humid summers, I was constantly putting in water. I solved my problem by installing a medium sized fountain that is shaped like an egg. The water gently cascades over the fountain. All the birds gather around. I have not found it difficult to maintain. I have it in my front garden. Houston, TX Z-9a.

Many cities have laws that you can trim a neighnors tree if it is hanging over your property, AS LONG AS WHAT YOU DO DOES NOT KILL THEIR TREE. I have a neighbor who doesn't want my bushes growing through the chain link fence that we share, so I just keep them trimed so they don't go through. We have been good neighbors for over 30 years. Last year while I was going through treatment for cancer they just trimmed the growth themselves and never complained! It pays to stay friends!

    Hi Linda
As usual love watching u garden almost as much as I love gardening 😅
I have a foxglove question- I know we get bp medicine from it, but how cautious do we have to be with handling it- pruning, transplanting etc. I asked Google but got varied opinions, and I know u grow and let it go to seed. I’m also confused about it being a biennial, is that why u let it reseed then move around?
    Thank you!
Ps do u think you and Sydney will ever do garden tours at urs and her place??? That would be fun!

It's gotten so hot in Kansas as well! The daisies look so friendly and cooling, and the white looks lovely with the purple haze. I've grown pumpkins up a trellis - so you can train the stem that's on the ground to grow upwards or simply clip it. You should still get a harvest with the rest of the stems that are already on the tuteur.

With that said, I live in El Paso, Texas, and it has been so hot here. It was 103 today, and it will continue to be in the 100s until next Tuesday. I water in the evening Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. That is all we are allowed. My grass is still dry in areas, and I would appreciate any advice to help me get my grass green. Thank you.

I was having a conversation with one friend in front of another friend and we have affectionate names for our Roses and the friend who was listening to us talk about “Ebby” (Ebb Tide), “Old Wolly” ( Wollerton Old Hall), “Cardy M” (Carding Mill) etc gave us a quizzical look and said “Who are you talking about?!?!” We all laughed after we explained about the roses having fun nicknames!!! You might want to be careful about letting the foxglove seedlings grow in the pots with other plants. Here in the Pacific Northwest, foxgloves grow wild and I let some volunteers grow in a large container that I have a crape myrtle in. Right next to it is another pot the exact same size with the same kind of crape myrtle. I have had them there for years as they were mail order and tiny when I got them. The one with the foxgloves appears to have died while the one right next to it without the foxgloves is fine. I had another pot where foxglove volunteers are thriving but the original plant is completely gone. I think the foxgloves may have killed the plants that were there originally. Maybe you transplanting them in the fall will prevent problems. I left mine.

    • @Gigi-fv9ky
      @Gigi-fv9ky 4 місяці тому +3

That’s exactly what I came to the comments to say. From the video at least, it seems quite rude and intrusive to have the neighbors set up a seating area right at the edge of their property and facing Linda’s, including into her front parlor window . Hopefully it doesn’t feel like that as much in person, or maybe it is temporary. I was thinking I bet Linda wishes she’d planted those 9 trees right there. 😀 But, otoh, Linda is much more of an extrovert than I so maybe it doesn’t bother her at all.

    • @RosemaryOltarzewski

Wow, is Miss Linda that selfish? Does it matter? One creates beauty in their yard because beauty is, well, beautiful. And, certainly can be shared in a neighborhood. The neighbors are “borrowing a view”? 😂 How about the neighbors are enjoying the beauty! Mayhap, they should sit next to the trash cans and they’d be fine. 😂 I’m sure if Miss Linda minded, she could spend many a UA-cam moment on her channel showing us how to build a 12ft stone wall. You guys are too much; we all breathe the same air, people.

Linda, do you acid - feed your Hydrangeas?I only wish I could send you picture of my hundreds and hundreds of Climbing Rose “ William Baffin, and John Cabot, the most breathtaking picture. You mentioned Japanese Beetles. We have this fantastic show right now of Roses, but, as these blooms wither away,I dead head as many roses as I can,and New blooms return, for about 1/2 the show as first bloom. Then the battle will be on, 4 times a day, Hubs and I make the rounds,w/ soapy water. We didn’t have much frost last year,so we are prepared for the battle of the Beetles this year. We never kill, smash, because they will release a pheromone, that brings more to your yard . I love our Pollinators,so we’ve never sprayed, but, might try Neem oil this year.

I missed how you get chores done in the heat of summer. That said, your garden is beautiful! I don’t have any scabiosa here. I need to get on top of that!
