  • The latest episode of Princeton Health onDemand focuses on how patients who need surgery for lung or chest conditions - such as lung cancer, collapsed lungs, diaphragm abnormalities and injuries, and conditions affecting the lining of the heart - can benefit from robotic surgery.
Because the robotic surgery incisions are so small, most patients spend less time in the hospital, recover more quickly, experience less pain during recovery, and are able to return to normal activities sooner. And because there is less pain, they breathe better, which means there is less chance of developing pneumonia.
In the video, Leonid Emerel, MD, a thoracic surgeon and member of the Medical Staff of Penn Medicine Princeton Health, discusses which patients may qualify for robotic surgery.
