    SteelFiber i110 in a driving iron has been a great combination for me. SteelFiber i110 is smooth, accurate and just enough kick to add the needed height to the shot.

    I have been playing Modus Tour 120 S in my Irons and Modus 115 wedge shafts for about 5 years and they are the best I've played in 25 years. I'm interested in this for my Hybrid. Great review as always.

    2nd ever YT subscription, for me this video embodies the difference you make and the niched relevance you offer to all golfers; and I won't even mention you guys going full media. Don't change a thing, don't ask for contents preferences, you know exactly that what you are proposing is right.

    Good video. Aerotech SteelFiber have been integrating steel and graphite for years. How about reviewing some of their products (if you haven't already) and doing a head-to-head comparison with the Nippons?

    I'm going to check with my Orthopedic surgeon to see if I can get this shaft fitted for my cane. But I will forward this video to my sons so they can decide if they want one or two in their hybrids or long irons, this shaft looks nice. We all love to see new golf tech vs old golf tech, thanks Ian and Matt.

      Golf club technology is reaching the limits of what they can do. I always felt this was the most important component of the club. This is the future of shafts. You get Benefits of graphite but the consistency of steel. The increasing cost of clubs emphasize how important it is to get fitted for the right gear. Ian and Matt, you guys are the most informative out there. Thanks again for all the work.

    Can't wait to test these after Ian's comments at the end of the video. Looking to swap out shafts in my long irons to get more in line with the hybrid and have more of a gradual step in between. 85 gram KBS Proto Hybrid so thinking this would drop in perfect in 4 & 5 iron and possibly even into the 6 iron. Great review. Thx for always keeping us all up to speed!

    As someone who plays Nippon’s ultra light Zelos shaft I wonder if they’re using a similar steel in this shaft. Maybe the addition of graphite layers allows them to dial in other attributes that suit strong players like Matt.
    They seem like a very innovative company. I’m eternally grateful for my shafts.

    Looking forward to see a Driver and Iron version...
    On a separate note tried a friend's new MP 20 HMB iron and I was blown away how much easier to hit than my jpx forged are hitting his 4 iron compared to my 4 iron was a breeze , my shafts are project x 5.5 his are project x 6.0 so pretty similar . Now very seriously considering replacing my 4 and 5 iron with similar spec HMB's....

    Mitsubishi has just launched MMT utility iron (taper). I would love to see the comparison between this Nippon GOST and MMT utility iron shaft in a driving iron. I am currently gaming 2 GAPR lo with MMT 90S but considering to reshaft because I feel MMT 90S is too soft, not quite solid feel as MMT taper (also gaming MMT105Tx in Iron now and ❤️, thank TXG for a MMT review video!!!. One of the best channel in golf ⛳️).

  • @schapediddly

    Really want to see a video where you go short with a driver and increase it's head weight (not swing weight, head weight). I've seen you do videos on short drivers, and I've seen videos where you talk about how a higher head weight, like found in the ping line, creates more ball speed. The more I thought about those two things, the more the pros going short makes sense to me. You can go to a 43.5" or 44" inch shaft, and gain a lot of control, and then on top of that, going short lightens up the swing weight, so you can make the head weight very heavy to make up all the ball speed loss of going short through the weight. In theory that is, would love to see it all tested. An easy to control, short driver with great ball speeds. Sounds good to me.

    • @blitzenboy
      @blitzenboy 5 років тому

      Brian Schaper I’ve also thought about this, there are benifits in going shorter if ball speed isn’t lost, obviously going shorter means needing to add head weight to keep swing weights normal, and that in turn ups ball speed, heavier hammer further the nail analogy. So what would be good to see is at what length does the ball speed drop off significantly, could that be 43, 42 or even shorter? Would be super interesting, I play a g400 max at around 44.5 and still need to add a few strips of lead tape to get to d3 so even with ping on the heavier side I’m still needing to add weight at that length

    • @plus2golfer12
      @plus2golfer12 5 років тому +1

      I play a 44"overall length and wouldn't have it any other way... Average carry 286...9 yards longer than playing 45.25... Caught a bomb last week that was 358 total distance which left me PW into a 496yd par 5 lol... I've had 6 drives this year over 340 after moving down to 44"and fw hit % is about 70% and rarely am I more than 5 yards off the fw... At 45+ it was 40%

    • @schapediddly
      @schapediddly 5 років тому +1

      Yea never made sense to me that manufacturers where trying to get people ball speed by increasing swing speed through a longer shaft. Makes even less sense now that I've watched this channel, because those long shaft have light heads at the end of them, and most people, including myself, struggle to find the middle on a long shaft. Get people ball speed through quality of strike because the clubs shorter and heavier. Granted this is all in theory, but how is a shmuck like me putting 2 and 2 together and none of the multimillion dollar companies can seem to do it. They always talk about how the clubs they release are designed with the help and to meet the needs of the tour pros. Well they use short drivers. So why are most drivers on the shelf 1.5" longer?

    • @schapediddly
      @schapediddly 5 років тому

      Have to add one more thing that just popped into my head regarding this. After that test, you could even go over the top trying to build the "ultimate no comprises" driver by going short with a tensei orange. Being counter balanced would allow you to jam even MORE head weight into the club without having to go to a ridiculous swing weight. Hope this tests happens at some point.

    • @plus2golfer12
      @plus2golfer12 5 років тому +2

      @@schapediddly I haven't added any head weight to my m1 and have gained distance... Now whether that's launch/spin optimization, ball speed/swing speed idk... It could also be the fact that I'm only 5'7 and standard is a little long so now I just pure everything at 44"... Very interesting test in deed and I may add some lead tape and play around with it... I'll be getting a skytrak in January so will be able to tell a little more then

    I custom ordered myself a Mizuno HMB 5 iron (strengthen 1 degree to 24 degrees) with a SteelFiber 110i shaft as my longest iron to go with my set of Mizuno Hot Metal Pros iron with Dynamic Gold S300 120 Grams. I love the Hot Metal Pros (weakened by 2 degrees - 7 iron at 32 degrees loft) but I can see the back of the 5 iron and visually I don't like that. Besides the visual thing, I liked the idea of lightening the shaft with the 24 degree 5 iron and changing the kick point to help the trajectory given that I found the HMB didn't have as high launch as the Hot Metal Pros. I first tried the fitting cart Recoil shaft but then came across the SteelFiber 110i shaft - what a difference - wow! - it felt and performed (loaded & dispersion & feel) like steel but gave me the improved launch conditions I was looking for. With a 24 degree 5 iron (traditional 4 iron loft), I don't need a longer iron, but if I was going to the UK to play links golf, I absolutely would order an HMB 2 iron with a SteelFiber 110i shaft (possible even the 95i shaft) as a driving iron. I know many guys on the Seniors Tour play the SteelFiber shafts in their irons, but I surprised we haven't seen it in more hybrids and driving irons.
