    십 = 十
    백 = 百
    천 = 千
    만 = 萬
    억 = 億
    i love kanji, so i just give the hanja associated with it.
    it is no problem if korean doesnt use hanja, i know , because it is only one syllable pronunciation.
    but japanese can have 2 or 3 or even 4 syllable pronunciation.

      조 is 兆, 불가사의 is 不可思議, 무량대수 is 無量大數

    Thanks this was really helpful. I never realised that a new word was introduced every time a 4th zero is added. I only knew about up to 억 but I always struggle to remember which is which. Somehow knowing that 만 and 억 are multiples of four zeroes and 십, 백 and 천 are repeating makes everything fit together and easier to remember. I don’t think I’ll forget it again now.
    Still feels really weird though when used to a system that introduces a new word every 3 zeroes. Hopefully Korean has scientific notation too?

      They follow the sino Korean root words, as same as Japan and china.... Well, if they changing to scientific count system i would be happy too

    Most of these numbers seem to be from Chinese, except 항하사, 나유타 and 아승기 which came to Korean from Sanskrit via China (eg 나유타 is 那由他). 불가사의 is 不可思議 (unbelievable/incredible), 무량대수 is 無量大數 (immeasurably large number). In Chinese these usually are more of a figure of speech rather than a specific, actual measurable figure lol

    i mean, its easy if you read for example 조 on its own, it just 1,000,000,000,000, really hard gets when you have to write or only hear a number like 2,343,654,132,754. By the time someone would try to say it, i probably already forgot half of it :D

    How would you say "to the power of" for instance "3.47x10^-1"?

      "2 to the power of 3" would be 2의 3승 (1st#의 2nd#승).

    Beyond 10 million I don't have a grasp anymore for how big a number is, because I use it so rarely. So learning these numbers is a real struggle :D

    At first glance it seems like a bit of a shock, but it seems it's just a single shift in order of magnitude. So instead of writing [One,Ten,Hundred]-Billion, you write [Ten,Hundred,Thousand]-억.
    Initially I was worried it was using 4 zeroes per grouping instead of 3 (since the 만 was grouped with the numbers on the left), which would be extremely hard to adjust to.

    In the video you got googol correct, but in the description you say 구골 is googolplex. But googolplex is different than a googol. Googol has 100 zeros, and a googolplex has a googol zeros.

      조 원(trillion won) 단위는 한국인에게 매우 익숙한 단위입니다. 정부 예산이나 지디피를 조원으로 말하니까요. 경 부터는 보통 익숙해하지 않고
      해는 머리속으로 얼마나 큰수인지 따져보아야 할테고 그이후 단위는 보통 잘 모르죠.
      미국인도 trillion 부터는 좀 덜 익숙해서
      같은 단위인 조를 한국인이 어려워 할꺼라 예상하는 걸까요??
      조란 단위는 익숙하죠. 경부터 덜 익숙하고 해부터 어려운 단위라고 생각하면 됩니다.
      그 이후는 생활에서의 단위가 아니라 수학으로서의 단위구요
