  • Today I show you how to make easy DIY window covers for your car or van. These are super easy and cheap to make and great for stealth car camping. These window covers are made from a thin insulation that also helps hold some heat in the car.

You can use duct tape around the edges, folding in half longways to use to cover all gaps, because all those gaps will show up like a flare when you are in the dark and turn on a light inside the vehicle. When you do it that way it also acts as a "Pulltab" to pull the covers off the windows, but you definitely want all those gaps completely sealed so no light shows in, that way no light will show out and you will remain completely unseen at night. It will save you from an unwanted knock in the middle of the night!

So many other videos don’t show how you get the shape to fit. They just say, “cut.” Thank you so much. I struggled with getting the shape to fit my windows.

I made these for our Prius. I made patterns from newspaper then traced & cut. We love them.

I think I would use a sheet of 3/8" black foam or cardboard spray painted black on one side. The black foam is easy to cut slightly over size so it conforms to the shape of the window but oversize will help it to stay put within the window frames. Either would be cheap to make, easy to replace and store. Simplify whatever works best for your car windows.

    I made mine the same
Larger cut w FRESH razor knife into indention
    Is easier
    You're half way there
If u have 5% window tint
At night a car can get then to reflect driving past
    Soooo
Get the $3 flat black from Home Depot and spray paint the outside facing sides
    Now Noone can decide
Hey there is someone car camping !
    Now your stealth and insulated

Ive seen camper van guy whos a nurse living in his vehicles use foil insulation from any hardware store.
Ive used duct tape and cheap dollar tree place mats on some of my windows.the drivers side. And the passenger side i have a shower curtain that runs across the length of my windows.
Back window i use a sun shade. To block the front off i have another shower curtain to run across on a bungie cord. Hope it helps. Fyi you should be abel to cut that foil to fit right in without tape. Or buy some suction cups & poke a hole in the material just big enough for the suction cup to fit & stick
Wish you all well hope this helps Repent Because God Loves You All. Learn Who He Is And You Can Learn Who You Are & Become Equal With Him. Be Safe

The black tape, is it black duct tape, plastic electrical tape, or paper masking tape?

Wouldn't this block airflow on the side windows if you keep them open slightly overnight to improve circulation and minimize condensation buildup?

You can run a cut sideways and run a piece of duct tape on both sides to act as a flap to fold down if you want to roll window down even with your ventshades! Works great!

Nope! I did it so it would appear dark inside or I have heavily tinted windows.
