    Not exactly excited for a spa there but really disappointed to hear about a 95 year agreement. We've done that already and dont like it.

      It will end up like the Eglinton LRT if we don't have someone who knows what they are doing building it.

    How is Cynthia Mulligan permitted to continue to report on this issue? She has been bias in her reporting on this issue for some time and has been accused of promoting the spa development in exchange for personal benefits.

    We need more healthy greenspace for all Canadians and visitors to share and enjoy. This is a luxury facility for those wealthy enough to pay to play. Look around the world and cities like Barcelona, Madrid, Chicago, Boston, Vancouver etc... All have free easily accessible parks, zoos, walking trails for all to enjoy year round for all spend their days at without having to spend lots of money to participate 🧦🤡💳🏧🇨🇦🚨🚔

    Therme claims it will have more annual visitors than the CN tower! What a joke!

      I'm pretty sure it would if it was created. Why is that a joke?

      @@chopstixxz the CN tower has the most visitors than any attraction in Toronto more than the ROM. The idea that some spa chain is going to surpass the CN tower, ROM, AGO, in annual visitors is completely unrealistic

    • @TheDyerDynasty
      @TheDyerDynasty Рік тому +1

      It might be able to bring in more visitors. There would be nothing like it in Toronto. 40 bucks for an all day world class water park/spa. Especially during winter, it would be a perfect place to relax without breaking the bank to travel.

      @@TheDyerDynasty Therme Bucharest has 1.3 million annual visitors. The CN Tower has 2 million. If you truly believe more people will visit a spa than the CN Tower you must really like the taste of boots

      @@vuvuzela691 Look, I think they've got a point. hear me out and please read my whole comment :)
      Bucharest is a city of abut half to a third of the size of Toronto - so if we scale it up, it might be feasible that we hit closer to 2 million than 1.3. I doubt it will truly surpass the iconic CN tower, but with the scarcity of the amount of actual locals that visit the CN tower, it might be worth at least considering.
      I have been firmly on the side against Therme since first hearing about this project for a 'spa', but if anyone remembers what it was before - it might not be far from it. It used to be a huge waterpark that was also payed (I found dated reviews from 2011 that saw {inflation adjusted} ~27-50$ depending on discounts and days went [from Tripdavisor]). Thats honestly about on par with the 40$ that they suggest for the current waterpark/spa. I hate the idea of a spa, but if it ends up being a waterpark, its not the worst idea.
      To play devils advocate, lets say this new idea sucks and we keep everything exactly the same. Is that really the best solution? What would you prefer happen with it - it stay exactly the same and they replace it with the same dated waterpark they had before? Or just keep it EXACTLY the same and not replace any of the abandoned buildings? The main thing I pray they keep is Eb Zeidler's pod structures as well as the IMAX theatre. I just went to the theatre with my father, friends, and by myself over a year ago (before renos) and I can still say its worth it (albeit hot in the summer)!
      Having grown up and lived in Toronto for my formative years (many trips to the beloved Ontario Place), with rose coloured nostalgia tinted glasses - I might say keep everything the exact same. But truth be told, Ive been there many many times with my bike in the past few years and I have to say: the west end is honestly pretty decrepit. I visit often with friends but its all closed off and we mostly just get a kick from the fact there were so few people there and we could climb abandoned structures.
      I know change can be very frustrating in a city you may have a fond connection to - but sometimes its best to let the sands of time change your perspective on newer ideas. That being said, stay vigilant and make sure they dont royally muck this one up. Anyways, just my opinion. Id like to know what you think of that :)

    So, if the Therme business should go bust, and they have a 95 year lease, who is going to maintain that 19% of Ontario Place once all this is already built? Doug Ford loves privatization - here's another example. $$$

    Turning Ontario place into a yuppy park. Everything, even the beach is sculptured, crafted, artificial. Mineral baths? $40? Yea, sure, in the end more like the European $80. Family of 4, even with discounts, add food, etc... you are talking a $500 day. A playground for the rich at tax payer expense.
