Ontario place was a huge part of my childhood.. every summer my grandma would take my brother and I here. We went there from the time we were 6- 13... it was the one big thing we looked forward to every single summer.. the rapids ride was our favourite. We have a photograph of us on it every summer... sad it’s gone now.. this place will forever hold a special place in my heart.

The Wilderness Adventure was addicting. I remember going on it repeatedly at the age of 6. Ontario place also had the most dope playground + water park ever.
Another place you guys can explore is Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village in Whitby. It was this beautiful local tourist spot where we used to go in the summer back in the 90s/2000s. It had a water park and playground area, but it was mostly a garden. It closed in 2006, and the current plans for the place is renovation by Spa le Nordic which will open in 2019. A small portion of the place named Cullen Central Park is open to the public.

Can't say that I blamed you, Brennan! When I last saw Libertyland (in Memphis TN), back in the late 1990's, it was still operational. Growing up, Libertyland was where me and my older sister went quite often. Then in 2005, it was closed due to financial difficulties. After that, the rides were sold off, and Libertyland got bulldozed for a stadium and parking lot. The only thing that remains of Libertyland, is 2 (on site) dedication plaques to the park and one of the rides (the historical rollercoaster "Zippin Pippin"). The Children's Museum Of Memphis also got the Libertyland Grand Carousel as well. After years of enjoyment at Libertyland, I'd rather remember it the way it WAS - not how it IS now!

That opening was just incredible editing. Well done. And hey, I know this park isn't necessarily closed, but you should make a video on Marineland in Niagara Falls, ON. That park is so sad (just...nobody goes there and we all aren't sure when it will close). It is the weirdest park and their ads will forever be stuck in my head.

Actually I just visited the website for the new version of Ontario Place and they still have a marina, and the cinesphere and a walking trail but seems like the Molson Ampitheatre is gone and some of if not all traces of the rides are gone. I did actually visit what was ontario place back in the early/late 2000s for Projekt Revolution and saw one of the rides in operation but I couldn't go on due to A)it was a child's drop zone, and b) I was there for a concert.

Thanks for a most excellent video! This was our family summer destination in 1978, 1979 and 1980... then in 1981 when Canada's Wonderland opened, we never returned. I believe our family was not alone, and Canada's Wonderland hurt Ontario Place to the point they could never recover.
What I remember vividly from Ontario Place between 1978 and 1980:
    - The outside rollerskating area, where I learned to rollerskate
    - The kids area with all kinds of stuff to climb, colored punching bags, 'exercise bicycles' that sprayed water
    - AND the *ultimate* way to get hurt... the four chute *CONCRETE WATERSLIDE* which riders were supplied a 'mat' to ride, which of course most would lose on the way down, and end up cut, scraped and bruised the rest of the way down, from the rough, pebbly concrete, which at least featured a nice blue paint. I lost a lot of blood on that slide... everyone did... and looking at photos, I'm amazed the water in the splashdown pool at the bottom wasn't RED. Regardless, this is what life was like in the 1970s and 1980s... you would take a beating and then climb the stairs for another go! This is what made some of my favorite places like Action Park in Vernon, NJ so great... life on the edge of severe injury or death... today lawyers run the show and ensure people are protected from themselves.
I didn't realize Ontario Place would be abandoned for so long, with the value and location of the property it occupies. The only place I have seen in such condition (and made a UA-cam video of it) was the derelict _Wild Water Kingdom_ in Brampton, which was actually resurrected last year with new owners investing 25 million dollars (or more) to clean up and rebuild and open as _Wet'n'Wild_

well he's right, most theme parks of America, except Disney's, are dying dead by now. What makes them so unique is that they are not branded names or franchises, they were all local. now what else is there for any locals to go for cheaper family fun and it all seems like it's harder for anyone to run a small theme park business. I feels as sad as D Adam as he typed his comment, and it leaves me wondering is there anything that can be done to bring it back or anything that could have saved any of those theme parks?

I LOVED ONTARIO PLACE! Children's Village and concrete water slides, being in Junior High (and we had no business being in Children's Village), the bungee jump tower, the island club, Benson and Hedges Symphony of Fire, Mega Maze, the Wilderness Adventure Ride, and the Cinesphere: I still walk my dog through the old part of the park, and the ramps up to the flume ride... it's sad to see it now, but the memories last forever.
