It sounds as if Jonny is suffering from CPTSD. He talks occasionally about the harmful impact his parents had on him, and how he carries this programmed sense of shame and worthlessness. Recovery is a life-long process. I hope he overcomes his fear of intimacy and finds true love and connection.
With his new album entitled “jonny”, I think you’re spot on mate! He’s come out with a lot of shocking and saddening things about his childhood with his new album and the interviews behind it. Your understanding is perfect! I think he might have Borderline personality disorder too on top of that
His honest story telling is phenomenal. His ability to touch your heart and mind with his lyrics is a gift. He is a true artist. My daughter and I met him after a show and he is the same in person. ❤️
Jonny is such an amazing wholesome person. I love this interview alot, the way Jonny articulates his beautiful thoughts and words of wisdom really resonated with me. I want to just give the man a hug and express how much his message means to myself and the world.
Everything he is saying is exactly what I’ve been going through. I’m so glad he’s willing to be vulnerable. His vulnerability empowers us to do the same and have real connections.
your mind is beautiful, i had the honor of seeing your show in dallas during the winter season of the year 2017. It was my last year of highschool and your music carried me through hard times through middle school to even now. continue to create and let your emotions flow freely and endlessly. ♥
Great interview. I love Jonny Pierce's albums especially the last two, Abysmal Thoughts and Brutalism. Jonny's back must be sore from carrying this band. 😂🤣😂 It is impressive that Jonny wrote and created the majority of the work similar to Trent Reznor's earliest work--Pretty Hate Machine. Trent Reznor wrote and performed that entire album himself and it is still his best work. I can hardly wait for Jonny's next album. 🙌👍
This was such an uplifting interview; i loved hearing him open up and be honest about learning how to be more collaborative as an artist, as well as his take on how he used to romanticize being an artist in anguish. He seems like he’s coming from a good place right now and i couldnt be happier for him
God loves him so much and he wants Jonny to know him intimately. Whoever took away his innocence or security will get what they deserve. Jonny the lord is waiting for you to call to help. He loves you and gifted you with your talent in music ☺️❤️
He talks about his relationship in Belgium, and how he was not getting reciprocity. This is his childhood co-dependency repeating its programming into adulthood; it's called a fawn response, which is developed in childhood as a response to abusive or neglectful parents. It's one of the many learned maladaptive behaviours of complex post-traumatic stress disorder.
i love jonny but this interviewer is totally bogus. jonny is really being himself and trying to talk from his heart and the interviewer is just bored out of his mind and doesn't give a shit. whatever real or true or vulnerable thing jonny says the interviewer is just like (boredly) 'hmmm...' 'hmm...' 'yeah...' then just asks him some bogus question that's pretty much exactly the same as the question before from his script, that doesn't even really mean anything but is just a bunch of waffling, 'hmm, so how did you feel to change yourself so as to create a, a more, different and new album'
I feel the same way as you do. The interviewer was so annoying to listen. Jonny was talking from his heart about such important topics as mental health, the fake sense of security people has, how he found beauty and comfort in sadness and a lot of stuff another famous people don't talk about. I love him. 💜

Anyone could use anything as a cover for mining false sympathy
CPTSD? lol wtf
What is CPTSD?
complex PTSD. it results from years of sustained trauma as opposed to a short term traumatic event

What a beautiful interview. i love this a lot. cant wait to see him live soon
I can’t believe he is so so real so open and honest
In all the interview, Jonathan Pierce looks so kindly and he says all he thinks. Nice!
Johnny is my spirit animal. ❤️
Oh wow, I understand now why Brutalism touched my heart in such way
Johnny seems like he would be a really great friend to have in your corner!
for sure
I did always get the feeling that Abysmal Thoughts was a very personal album for Jonny even without him having to explicitly outline why. I FELT it.

Jonny, I love you
So they dont ask him about why hes not playing with his original band members? Cuz hes not. What happened to Jacob??
Jacob said in a post on Instagram that he wanted to focus on puppetry and his work in the band Sound of Ceres.

the music speaks for it self !!!!!
I’m his nephew💪💪
Kinda looks like Johnny Lawrence from Karate Kid ngl
He reminds me of Elliot from mr. Robot
He needs to realize he’s beautiful

I love his music but I really hope he finds Jesus Christ, I thought he wasn't real until I felt his presence one day.
