- A Kolkata court on Monday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) permission to perform a lie detector test upon the doctor's rape-murder accused, Sanjay Roy.
Days after a mob vandalised Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital over the gruesome rape and murder of a trainee doctor, Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, the lawyer of the rape victim's parents, has accused the Mamata Banerjee-led state government of being behind the attack at the hospital.
In an interview with India Today TV, Bhattacharya claimed the ruling Trinamool Congress planted goons among people who had gathered to protest against the rape and murder. These "goons" went on to ransack the government-run hospital with an intent to "scare and disperse the protestors" and "destroy evidence," Bhattacharya claimed.

I stayed in Kolkata for an year & I was literally in love with the city & the Bengali culture, sad to see things like this.
I think Protection must be given to all doctors who work there. That must be given by the Govt of Modi. Also all the Universities , Colleges , Schools must be Free from Thuggery behavior and harassment from anyone (either from the Principa...or the Director or from any student) That kind of behavior(Harassment) must not be allowed and it should not be tolerated by anyone. Students go college to get Education only. Not for anything else. Mainly Doctors go to work everyday to treat their Patients and to help them only. Not for anything else. They must be Protected by the GOVT.
Why there was a 14-hour delay in filing a First Investigation Report after the victim’s body was discovered. This is a very strange thing to happen in a Murder Investigation. Also FIR was filed at 11.45 pm on August 9, after the victim’s body had been handed over to her parents and was cremated. This one is even weird and worse than everything else, Looks like they wanted to delay and hide everything.Looks like they were all discussing and trying to figure out how to hide everything. My question is where did he get the Courage to delay and file the FIR after the victim’s body had been handed over to her parents and was cremated?? I want all doctors in our country to get utmost security in practice and elsewhere. Having said that.....I'll treatment to doctors is more common in Bengal than any other part of the country. Safety must be ensured at all times. Then again, sometimes the behaviour of doctors in Bengal is extremely insensitive and belligerent when dealing with sensitive issues like death, terminal illness etc. That must not take away the necessity of doctors getting security but also at some level doctors must also be sensitised on their behaviour. And this is a very Bengal problem, not so much an Indian problem. You will never hear of doctor patient confrontations in the South or even for that matter in the North. Problem is, sometimes for a few people, getting a medical degree alludes them of basic sensitivity. Without realising that they are partaking in a 'cause' rather than a business.
