      @@rjduh1554 it is all about presentation, and selling your vision, so selling lyrics with no melody or music is harder than selling a finished song.
      No one has the time these days, so you got to find a team of people to start working.

    Thank you so much! I have been writing for years, but when I'm combatting depression, songs of all kinds and genres pour into my head. Sometimes I know the voices that I hear singing them, sometimes I don't. A couple of times, I heard ME. It's a sort of good madness. My pile of songs is growing....

      Just remember that the big record labels still have their grip on everything, there are many artist fighting to be heard just like you and just like me.
      This is just an option that some artist can afford to buy into, and some of those artist get lucky having the perfect song for the perfect time, you never know what the future holds, but dont place all your hope in ONE outcome, always have a plan B, plan C and more.
      Every song you write has the potential to change your life, but in most cases it may come years after your plan A.
      So keep writing!

    clear as mud. if there is "so much competition" then why are the billboard charts constantly full of songs which are absolute crap. and taxi, the service mentioned, requires a fully recorded, mixed, mastered version of the song, before even considering it; so if the song is already fully album-ready then what is the point of paying them $$$ as a submission it, since the track is already suitable for a direct release.

    Guys dont do this, rather get in touch with anyone in the industry and pitch them the way u think they can be reached, because in this industry , mostly songs are from their own circle of friends or network, your melody alone is valuable and can be stolen just like that, if u submit a cool ass melody they dont care about your lyrics as long as it sounds good and fresh, now they are trying to find the next big genre, as the top Artists nowadays become big because of new Styles they came up with. Fusion of different genre, lets say post malone, he fused hip hop pop and country and alot more to sound fresh and new, because people will always gets bored listening to same type music, so now, its the end of that melodic rap era, currently were waiting for the next era, so becareful guys when submitting, if its too dope, release it on your own, make sure to get a copyright

      My question is, how do you get your material heard without preexisting connections? I finished a group of demos a few years ago and was all over social media trying to get my target artists to hear them, and I got nowhere. I even had a friend give me contact information for a friend of an artist, but I never heard back.
      At some point, you just have to do something to move forward. What I appreciate about this video is that it at least identifies some resources.

      @@Tes7000 okay, just assume the already successful artist is also working like us, if they are the types who are helpful and want to help other growing artist yeah maybe, u need to know the exact formula to get listener is a new sound, just like all artist that blown up, they all kinda bring new kind of sound style, like post malone, kurt cobain, juice , if you study these people theu bring new kind of material, and then make sure u can produce that new vibe of sound easily, so that u can be valuable to the record label, record label nowadays they are waiting for the next big trend in music, just experiment with mixing genre, usuallt it will rotate , with only few new kind of sample added, let say like 70s disco mix it with 808 and unique kinda voice and melody, people get bored real quick nowadays, so people are alwayas srrching for new kinda sound and music is so important, they even create trend or fashion , just study the pattern . Look at metalicca, the weeknd, snd some artist i call is immune to this, like coldplay, RHCP, because they are the only ones who sound like that , if lets say punk band , alot of punk bands grow

      HEy thanks for the question Jaholo, the best way is to really team up with others as hard as it may be, because you need to present a finished product to have the "WOW" effect and sell your song.
      When you put pen to paper and write your lyrics, you envision the finished song already, but to the person reading your lyrics, they just see a poem.
      You gotta make them see the whole picture, otherwise they will just move on to the next song.

    • @TieDyeKitty
      @TieDyeKitty  7 місяців тому

      Hey Cameron, the only thing you can really do is align yourself with Soca in some way and launch yourself out from that after some time, because Soca has the Trini audience.
      The truth is for all music these days is that everyone has become lazy, no one makes the time to seek good music again, they rather be told what to listen to.
      And if everyone listens to soca, start working your way in that direction.
      Chromatics (Richard Raj-Kumar) has been around for years in the Trini rap scene but this year went in the direction of soca to gain more attention.
      Nailah Blackman is a pop/rock singer songwriter, who is now on the tips of most trinidad lips because of soca, but she has being intoducing her true self and style of music on her albums little by little, so when she does switch, to a pure pop/rock type album, no one will complain.
      And well the is also Freetown Collective, they are on the verge of Folk music in Trinidad, but one of their biggest songs broke into the soca market in a big way!

      Hey El Diablo, you send a finished song, thats music, lyrics and melody.
      At that point the artist/record company will make what ever changes to make the song fit the artist, re record the song and release it under that artists name as their own, you are credited as a songwriter and paid.

      Hey, sorry for the late reply.
      I myself do not know the market value going rate per song, because I would imagine it may go in accordance to the hit potential and which artist wants to buy your song.
      Next thing is royalties, work on what % of the song you wrote, was it 100% or did they just use your chorus, there are many things that could influence that.
      But the main thing to know, is that once your name goes down as a songwriter on the song, you will get royalties for life.

    Even tho i never learnt to produce or write and its just a skill i have but i comment this because i do believe my songs in my head are really good :)
    But what is the next step? I thought to learn how to produce but it take years… or should i write lyrics and make full songs and store in my head again? I don’t have a lot of money or time for that

      Hey Spicerow, the only way anyone will believe in you and your skills is to give them something finished that they can hear, otherwise they will never see your vision.
      So unfortunately that is where the "Production" part comes into play, you must Produce the very thing you hear in your head, so that others can listen.
      And yes learning production takes much time, but it also is a skill and another art form in itself.

      But the first step is to make sure the music is copy-written, because you are going to be "shopping it" , after that send it out to be reviewed on forums, and any feedback you get may help you improve the song even more.

    • @wazazymantez

      Because I've been wondering when a song writer sells only the lyrics how can the artist know the tune use on the song or will the artist uses his own tune

    • @TieDyeKitty
      @TieDyeKitty  Рік тому +1

      Hey WAZAZY sorry for the late reply, yes you will need to record the song somehow, most songwriters have some sort of home recording set up so that they can create demos of the songs.
      Creating your own demo in recent times has become more of getting as close to the finished product you hear in your own head as possible, that way the artist you are pitching the song to will get better picture of the direction you are going, the less work you give them, the better for you.

    • @TieDyeKitty
      @TieDyeKitty  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there Walking Bhutanese, lyrics themselves have to be adjusted to fit the timing of a song, so in most cases what you write as of now will be the story draft.
      Also lyrics can be adjusted to fit different music, so what you must do it try to become part of a Songwriting Team first.
      Pitching songs to artists is a time sensitive process, so you have to make the best presentation possible as you will not get a second chance.
      So join a song writing team first for best results.

      @@walkingbhutanese7926 I understand, but there are songwriters who write, record and produce songs themselves who then pitch to other artists, sometime they are lucky and one of their songs get picked, but many times songs are passed over while looking for a HIT SONG.
      So they look at lyrics without music as a Poem, so it’s in your best interest to find a way to provide a completed song for them to hear.

      Hi Oliver, I have never had the pleasure of selling a song yet, so I really cannot say.

      Hey thanks for the question, the music industry is very guarded and secretive.
      I cannot tell you how to become a ghost producer, but like I said in this video, there are always artist looking for songs, so its all about your connections and where you network.
      Keep producing your music, and i would say reach out to www.epidemicsound.com, that is the music library I use for much of the music in my videos (the songs i did not write)
      You can send them links to your tracks, and if the like them, they will let you become one of their writers/producers.
      At this point your music becomes available to content creators around the world for them to use in their UA-cam videos or ads.
      You will get paid for your music.

    these tipsheets are useless if your goal is to pitch to recording artists, i've even heard pro songwriters saying that. you gotta have CONNECTIONS in the industry, REAL connections. it's sad to see that there's companies and individuals out there trying to profit from hopeful songwriters who doesn't know how the industry works.

      This is true, because do u think that major artist doesnt have friends that probably already pitching them songs and they have already the best people around them in terms of writing and producing sounds, and most of the artist rather make their own song and dont like to get others to be credited because Artists especially main stream mostly are capable and have their own pride in producing their own music and writing their own lyrics and finding their own melody. This is like submitting ideas and then gets rejected but they already gets your melody, they can always reject yours but still can use your melody and all and produce better version of it
