I applied all the steps proferly but my Mehran 800 reduced from 18 to 10 something, a local mechanic said that u should adjust your air fuel mixture screw in start position of engine with 1500 rpm, after lettig the air fuel mixture screw fully tighed you should slowly unscrew until you get smoth engine sound without any vibration. Now what I do there is no leakage of Petrol and surprisingly no lagging in engine power even the adjustment of screw in any position, I am stugged the engine behaves normaly on any position of screw with more fuel consumption. The overall condition of my engine is 10/ 10.
Sir, your knowledge is great and you explain it wonderfully, i own a maruti 800,1996 model same as yours and it has cold start problems like it starts and stops and after that needs a long cranking to start.

Once you pull the HT cable from the Coil then you will not get spark from it, especially from the wrong side(9:35), the sound of spark that you hear is not from the HT Cable but rather the Coil. Ideally you are to pull the other end or even the Cylinder one Plug and then check for spark. That said, Awesome video! Cheers!

how can you get spark when engine is not running and just by moving the distributor....and how on earth a distributor can produce a spark...what is ignition coil there for then....best way to to adjust the ignition timing is to simply use a timing gun..thanks
the mechanism of producing spark is, if there is a high voltage (inside the capacitor or condenser or coil) which is connected to a small gap (like a spark plug), then sparks start flying off from one end to another. If the key is turned on, then the high voltage is generated and so, it should work. Do not confuse a car with a bike because in a car, the ignition system is controlled by a battery whereas in the bike, it is controlled with a dynamo. The distributor is a rotating switch. As the engine rotates, the distributor rotates and makes contact with one spark plug wire to send spark into that spark plug. Then it rotates some more and transfers the spark into the next spark plug. In my spark plug tuning video, I create a second spark gap between the fat wire and the body of the car so that I can see the spark for myself. You might be wondering how spark is generated if the positive side of the fat cable is unplugged. But the thin negative wire connecting the condenser to the distributor is still connected. So, when I bring the fat cable to the body, the circuit becomes complete. At this moment, if I align the distributor perfectly, only then the switch is turned on and I can see the spark. Hence, I get the perfect timing. And please don't tell me that timing gun is better. That is non sense. If you are tuning the distributor, you can exactly pinpoint the location of spark sound and accurately align the distributor. If you use a timing gun, then the light generated will have an inherent delay. So, that is an inaccuracy. And the light will not come for only a microsecond for the timing gun to be pinpoint accurate. The gun will remain lit for a range of time so the error in adjustment could be a couple of degrees. And spotting with gun is time consuming and requires expertise. But everyone can hear the sound of spark. I hope this clarifies your doubt.

hi. thanks fo the video. In between i would like to ask one thing. In the video you remove the distributor cover and put the vehicle in 4th gear and pull to see the marking of belt. . But before that u rotate a thing inside the distributor to opposite direction. But closing the distributor cover is not shown, or in which position it should be kept before closing disrtributor cover. thanks
You can put the car in 4th gear and remove distributor cover or vice versa. Not so important. But you should not rotate the center piece with your hand. You simply push or pull the car until it roughly points in the direction I have shown you. Then push or pull further until you see a marking on the flywheel and then align it with your indicator. The centerpiece at this stage will roughly still be in the same direction. Now, put the distributor cover back on and complete rest of process.
Thanks bro ur tuning helped.getting good mileage of 16+ on highways in speeds at 80 kmph.but as for the adjustment of screws,I'm running on 3 rotations back mixture screw and the front screw I have adjusted to 1.25 rotations as per the smell.is this OK?
It should be 4 rotations for the back mixture screw. The front screw is OK. If you are satisfied with the result, it is OK.You will get 18kmpl on highways at the speed of 80 with full load with AC if there is no fault. For the ultimate accuracy in tuning, open one of your spark plug and see whether the tip is white of pinkish brown or black. It should be light pink to pinkish brown. Then you know that you have the perfect mixture. If it is black, tighten the back screw half rotation. If the spark plug is white, loosen the back screw half rotation. That is the final step.

Yes. You can use the same method. It works for all maruti 800s as long as they are carburetted (i.e. you have the same engine layout as mine with a round air filter).
Yes one of the pipes from vaccum was discconected.also the intake rubber pipe from the carburetor for Ac is blocked.there is no floe of petrol when Ac was switched on
the rubber pipe is for air. It is not for petrol. So you wont see any petrol flowing at all. Just reconnect those pipes and see if it works. If not i can guide you further. I have sent you my mail id in one of your comments

Yes, he is right. If everything is right i.e. you have no loose negative wire from distributor to ignition coil and a wire to carburetor is also tightly put, then you have a problem with either spark plug leads or ignition coil. Start your engine, let it idle and pull one spark plug wire out. See if the engine still works. If it is working, put it back on and pull another plug out. See if it is working. If the engine stops at pulling any one of the plugs, it is time to change the spark plug wires. Change all of them at once or you will have another one of them failing in short time. If the engine is working fine at all times, then your ignition coil has gone wrong.
good job bro......very helpful. i am using maruti 800 type 2 1998 model. engine is running good but as it gets heatup engine stop as it seems ran out of petrol. now what i am doing is using wet towel and keeping it on fuel pump and distributor coil upper right hand corner underneath left wipper and engine just starts with no issues........what is the problem. plz help me out

Nice. Try doing a general checkup first, spark plugs, engine oil, petrol and then start it. Initially, you will need to do some cranks with accelerator pedal fully pressed. This is to clean up the inside of cylinders. Then you can try starting normally. How long have you not started the car for?
Aveem Ashfaq . The car stopped suddenly in route. I have tried all the basic stuff. It does not start. There is spark in all the 3 plugs and petrol in carb. Don't know what the issue is
There is a small wire in the back of carburetor which controls a solenoid. When you turn off the key, it blocks the passage of petrol through carburetor. I have showed it in this video ua-cam.com/video/gCgS5UcutIk/v-deo.html . Check if the wire is connected or not. That is probably the issue you have.
I think the mixture is lean so it is lacking power or engine needs advance firing which can be adjusted through distributor. Best to use tachometer while tuning. It has to be kept at optimum RPM.
Aoa Bro , very helpful video, I got problem after carburator adjustment that car engine stop when you put break on turns after high speed . Is it due to low idle ??
malikdanyal yes, if you have low idle rpm, you will have the problem. another reason might be the clutch but if you did not have problems before tuning, it means that the clutch is good, only the idle is a bit low. increase the idle and everything will be fine

Hi bhai i bought one maruti 800 it's 2003 model euro 1 & i have not done any thing yet, the issue is it's doing missing after a mile the race is not working, should i turn it up like you showed in the video or there's more to do.
I can do that. But I am concerned that people who watch the video cannot even follow the above video perfectly to the point. And tappet adjustment is a serious thing. You could have drastic mileage loss if the clearance is done wrong. That's why i did not do that.

You should have more than half a tank of petrol and then pour in the fuel injector cleaner. I put the fuel injector cleaner when I had 3/4 tank full of petrol. Pour the cleaner and drive it for around 50 kms. With each passing km, your car will feel faster. After sometime, it will reach peak efficiency and that is the limit of improvement.

Isnt 4 anticlockwise rotation too rich for a maruti zen.I have this doubt because the jet sizes are different.So isnt the same tuning from an 800 redults in rich mixture in the zen.i have read from some of the tbhp sites that the factory setting for a zen is 2.5 rotations only.Pls carify

Nice. Try doing a general checkup first, spark plugs, engine oil, petrol and then start it. Initially, you will need to do some cranks with accelerator pedal fully pressed. This is to clean up the inside of cylinders. Then you can try starting normally. How long have you not started the car for?
Aveem Ashfaq . The car stopped suddenly in route. I have tried all the basic stuff. It does not start. There is spark in all the 3 plugs and petrol in carb. Don't know what the issue is
There is a small wire in the back of carburetor which controls a solenoid. When you turn off the key, it blocks the passage of petrol through carburetor. I have showed it in this video ua-cam.com/video/gCgS5UcutIk/v-deo.html . Check if the wire is connected or not. That is probably the issue you have.

I think the mixture is lean so it is lacking power or engine needs advance firing which can be adjusted through distributor.
Best to use tachometer while tuning.
It has to be kept at optimum RPM.

Aoa Bro , very helpful video, I got problem after carburator adjustment that car engine stop when you put break on turns after high speed . Is it due to low idle ??
malikdanyal yes, if you have low idle rpm, you will have the problem. another reason might be the clutch but if you did not have problems before tuning, it means that the clutch is good, only the idle is a bit low. increase the idle and everything will be fine

Hi bhai i bought one maruti 800 it's 2003 model euro 1 & i have not done any thing yet, the issue is it's doing missing after a mile the race is not working, should i turn it up like you showed in the video or there's more to do.

I can do that. But I am concerned that people who watch the video cannot even follow the above video perfectly to the point. And tappet adjustment is a serious thing. You could have drastic mileage loss if the clearance is done wrong. That's why i did not do that.

I tuned my 1998 Maruti 800 as you have shown in the video it works much better now but the return fuel jet is slower than the video and I have bought the fuel injector cleaner as shown in the video but not sure about the quantity of cleaner to be used and the minimum amount of petrol to be present during the use of the cleaner... please suggest
You should have more than half a tank of petrol and then pour in the fuel injector cleaner. I put the fuel injector cleaner when I had 3/4 tank full of petrol. Pour the cleaner and drive it for around 50 kms. With each passing km, your car will feel faster. After sometime, it will reach peak efficiency and that is the limit of improvement.
