Petland store in Frisco, Texas is facing citations after undercover investigation by the Humane Society of the United States finds sick puppies and a lack of veterinary care.
Between July and August 2019, a hidden-camera investigation conducted by the Humane Society of the United States in the Frisco, Texas Petland store found heartless animal mistreatment and disease. City animal control charges are reportedly pending against the Frisco Petland store after HSUS investigators presented documentation of sick puppies to animal control and described puppies in the pet store’s back room who were too sick to eat or were suffering from severe vomiting and diarrhea.
All locations should be immediately shut down. No words express the distaste and detestment I have after seeing these people mistreat these poor animals. Humans can be very disgusting and cruel.

@firespinnr but even by this regulation it is stated that breeders etc have to provide veterinary care. No chance to prosecute? Being an European living in Europe I don't know about legislations etc in US. I just hope that I will never see this on any social media.. already saw it on IG and CANNOT bear to see it again..

firespinner thank you for sharing it’s the USDA of agriculture. I thought I email everybody about my issue with petland but I will email them my story. Petland is god awful. The human society posted a video about them and it’s all true. My boyfriend and I bought a cute 10 week old golden doodle from Petland not knowing about Petland as we are new to Texas and wanted this breed. Sadly, three days into living with us she started sneezing which we thought was just allergies so we didn’t think much of it. The next day she started having a really snotty nose, again didn’t think anything of it. Day five comes around and she starts coughing, panting and sniffling insanely, horrible smelling runny poop, not wanting to play, run, eat or even sit, she just went straight from standing to plopping down on her belly and when we put her in her crate the last few nights she wouldn’t claw the crate, bark or even whine like she usually did. we made a vet appointment with the vet that works/is sponsored by Petland at FAMILY PET CENTER in Frisco (since petland only covers their first few visits) the only option was the next two days so later that day we took her to the Collin county emergency pet center to see what was wrong and fix it. She ended up with a case of really horrible pneumonia, The vet said he didn’t know if treatment would work on her since she had such a bad case and she was so little so we decided to put her down to put her out of her misery. there is undercover cases at petland, all the animals they have are neglected of vet care when shown signs of sickness and petland falsifies shot records. I don’t understand how they are in business, they need to be stopped!! We are glad we got to make her happy, bringing her home and showing her love instead of being not conformed in that horrible place we got her out of. I went there a week after she passed away to tell petland and the workers didn’t seem surprised at all when I said my puppy that I got from them was sick and passed away. We happened to come on a day when the sponsored vet they have was checking the new puppies and I watched them through the glass (I didn’t see any throwing, probably because it was open hours) but the vet gave them a quick glance to look over them and then listened to only their hearts for 5 seconds and handed them back and off to the next one. The littlest/newest ones I believe are not sick but they only get checked that one time regardless of signs of sickness so they all get sick due to being picked up by staff then they go to pick up a new one and switch them to different waiting pens
Broke my heart when they decide to freeze the animals alive because it doesn't get better.
Sadly it cheaper than care and than Euthanasia, they believe it is humane they just fall asleep than pass away. Sickening.
That is so messed up. This place needs to be shut down. Big time.

Pet land is EVIL. I feel bad for the puppers. All pet lands should be shut down and all the people who do this to animals should get a life sentence so they know what it is like to be locked up for all their lives.
Ya but better then that the humane society of the United states should ban them for ever owning or keeping a pet in the mean peoples house and ban them for having an contact with any animal and have them put behind bars

There are Petland animal abuse videos on YT that are 10 years old. With all the 'brick and mortar' store closings in the US, I don't know how Petland stays alive.

How can this be legal? This is such heartbreaking yet necessary footage. I hope both public outcry and formal action ensure PetLand must be held responsible and severely punished. They should not be allowed to operate when they've shown systemic and purposeful mistreatment of animals.

I have 3 adopted rescue dogs and have NEVER bought ANYTHING from Petco, Petland, or PetSmart. I do not patronize these stores that sell ANY animals. I get what I need at my Iocal Walmart, Farm and Fleet, or online. No reason to shop these places. For what? Boycott ALL of them. Hurt them in the pocket. Close them down. And yeah, Walmart still has fish, but mine has nothing else. And I don't see the point in the future of them carrying fish. Actually I haven't bought anything in a pet store in over 30 years. No need to. And never bought a dog.

@@davidgarris2513 I live in the UK. I only see mice, rats, maybe lizards for sale in pet shops. The rules are being tightened about selling puppies and kittens online too. Many petshops just sell food and accessories.

As for breeding, I am of firm mind that ALL breeding be banned, especially people. We are far overpopulated as a spieces. And far too many cats and dogs.

So earlier on October I really wanted a dog, and my dad said to get it from here! So I said okay. Then a few days later we reserved to “meet” a dog. The lady wouldn’t tell us the price of the dog. I realized where it was and then saw that the place SHUT DOWN! Where they said they are. I imminently realized it was just a scam. The worst part is that they sell sick dogs and they say their all “healthy” please don’t buy pets from PetLand

there's a Petland in Mall of Georgia, and I've seen MANY COMPLAINTS of dogs being treated terribly and dogs dying the next day when people buy from there. I hope an investigation on that location goes on soon because it's absolutely sad to see all those dogs trapped in there with bad conditions, and i don't even want to think about where these puppies are coming from...
This is how it is. I worked there at 17 years old, they hire whoever, as long as you like animals.
Known several dogs who were bought at that place,had many signs of inbreeding,I work at a doggie day camp and it shocks me that people buy dogs from that place.
It is heartbreaking to see those tiny babies suffering but what is more heartbreaking is to see how many people are heartless monsters .Thank you for fighting hard against animals abuse and helping so many suffering animals.Gid bless you amazing people .

Ohmg! My daughter and I went to petland last week, came home and inside of 2 days our dog was severely ill, and now I'm wondering if we brought home something! He was vomiting 4 times an hour and had severe diarrhea!
They sold me an Italian greyhound in 2005 with a blown knee the dog was limped her intare life but I took care of her

I happen to work at pet land as a kennel tech, so i work in the back with the pups all the time, and maybe this happens somewhere not in my state bc we even have people come in from different stores and this DOES NOT happen at every pet land which i can assure you. my store treats these pups even better than the customers that go in to play with them. we have a vet come in to check our new pups then if any of them has a heart murmur or bad knees they get rejected but they go into a separate kennel until the breeder comes, they still get the same tender love and care, meds, toys and blankets, etc.
When can we get to a point where every pet is adopted from shelters?! No more buying from pet shops, backyard breeders or online!!!

I was in a pet store in Virginia. I saw a customer pay 3500.00 for one puppy. It was a sad situation in that store. Puppies were in glass partitions, they were jumping up to the top. I felt like with that many puppies in that enclosure, they wouldn't have any fresh air. Legit true loving puppy & kitten breeder would not put those babies in that situation.
Freezing a puppy? That is completely senseless! I wish Petland will be shut down for good!
Time to shut down Petland. Animals are beings who deserve to be treated with kindness and compassion, not abused for profit.
My fiance and i, went out to look for a pet (dog) to adopt, but since we did not find any adoption place that is open, we entered to Petland ONLY by curious and I was impressed by the prices who have for each puppy that do not drop below $3000. I realized that all of this is a very DISGUST ANIMAL TRAFFIC. It is impossible to believe that the city, state and government allow all this, but it is OBVIOUS that they allow it.

I went to Petland last year and saw this beautiful Siberian Husky (female). I asked one of the employees to see her and she goes “ she can’t come out at the moment “ and she wouldn’t tell me why.

As someone whose worked there I can confirm a lot of this…. Unfortunately. And I’m apparently not allowed to talk about it… but those animals deserve better. We literally had a pomsky with a defect and I was told it’s being sent back and probably euthanized. Countless chameleons have died because of lack of care and maintenance on a daily basis. I attempted to use my own products from home to help out (since they were using a UVB bulb 24/7 for “heat” when it emits very little heat. Which they shouldn’t have the uvb that long only 12 hrs) only to be passive aggressively accused of messing with things without permission. And store using things. We didn’t have a GM and the two besties were in charge and def chose favorites. Let’s see there’s more….. oh having a puppy die in my arms the min I arrived at a emergency vet clinic because the person in charge of the puppies’ health said he was fine when the kennel manager told them they were not fine. An old GM refused to let anyone take a sick dog to the vet because of the holidays and it passed during the night. Constantly forget about the sick animals in the back, basically once their sick theyre just left to die. Constantly forget about the reptiles on the top shelf so they’d just shrivel up and die from lack of moisture. I was yelled at because I was trying to get this puppy to eat but kennel wasn’t open exactly on the time we opened which mattered more than the puppy eating. Then to top it off being scolded for not bugging someone to finance and take a puppy home when they clearly aren’t ready for a commitment like that - we are trying to find the best homes for puppies right? But that doesn’t technically matter because as long as they’re going home it’s fine. Just no! You can tell the types of people who impulsively get a puppy and the countless husbands or wives or people in general that bring them back because someone got mad is just nuts. And I just my heart hurts for all the puppies that are rejected for the stupidest reasons…. A BASSET HOUND HAD A HERNIA SURGERY AND THE STITCHES WERE SO BAD YOU COULD STILL SEE INSIDE HER STOMACH…. BUT WE WERENT ALLOWED TO WRAP IT BECAUSE IT WOULD LOOK BAD TO THE PUBLIC…..
Just an AWFUL place to work at….. I couldn’t do it anymore. I’m way too empathetic to watch animals suffer like that….

I can tell you WHY people still shop at dog stores; there is such a GLUT of large dogs (obviously, pitbulls and their breeds) that there ARE no smaller more desirable dogs available. I have been looking for YEARS, and basically found out the desirable dogs end up with nutjob old ladies/foster care that hardly find anyone qualified to have them. I was myself disallowed because i an single and was still working.(OH-MY, no! You couldn't leave alone him by himself all day!)
After checking at Uncle Bill's, I could get one for about four thousand dollars. I'm still kicking it around.
Nearly all puppies at Petland come from Amish puppy mills. The Amish are the largest segment of puppy mills. The breeding dogs are kept in horrendous conditions. If you must get a puppy, go to AKC Marketplace. At least there, you can go and see the puppies, and the parents. Talk to the breeder, and get a good idea where the puppies come from. Take your time, and don’t rush. Not to mention the astronomical mark up at Petland. You could import a dog from Europe for what you end up paying through their credit program. BUYERS BEWARE!!

I’m here because I bought a puppy from them two days ago. What a terrible mistake, I feel so stupid. I paid $2000 for this puppy and got him to the house and he was perfect, but we ended up having to return him because we aren’t able to keep him unknown to us until we got him. They only gave me $565 for the puppy back so I’m stuck paying $1,500 for a puppy I don’t own. They are crooks!
My husband and I went to a Petland a year or two ago and we played with the sweetest little frenchie. Poor thing threw up when we spent time with her and the girl working there said “she’s fine that’s what puppies do. AND you came on a good day! She’s on SaLe for $5000!!” We looked at her like she was joking, and handed the puppy back upon hearing the price and quickly left... wanted to rescue that sweet little baby from there so bad, but didn’t want to support that business. Also $5000 for a dog is far from a deal.. that’s a crime in itself.. wow... 😣

ADOPT DON’T BUY these poor pups having to suffer this way. I am always an adoptee. I hope PetLand goes out of business and when they do they take all the sick puppers and get them medicine attention. I couldn't finish the video. It was making me so angry and raising my blood pressure. It absolutely enrages me how cruel people are to animals for the sake of money. If money is the most important thing to you, that is one pathetic existence. These poor, innocent creatures deserve so much better.

We went in yesterday. 6 puppies in a grated cage. They were all full. Never seen so many in there. Attacking and playing with each other. They need baths and haircuts. Disgusting. We would never buy..but my girls like to see them and play with the hamsters and ferrets. The puppies cost about $2,500. RIDICULOUS!
Always adopt, don't shop! I have had 5 dogs all adopted/rescued. All were AMAZING dogs. Three have very sadly gone to the rainbow bridge because of age and illness, but they were 14, 13, and 16 years old respectively. What kind of life would shelter dogs have if nobody rescues them? I would NEVER shop at a place like this. I would adopt from a rescue where the dogs are saved from the puppy mills that supplies these stores. If we ALL do that these kinds of places would hopefully close for good!
This doesn’t surprise me.. I’m still in dispute with Petland as I purchased my puppy from Petland Frisco in June just a month before this investigator reportedly started his investigation. They broke USDA laws and my puppy had kennel cough and was really underweight. I’ve only ever adopted or rehomed and although we went against the “adopt don’t shop” we gave our dog a loving home and am so thankful to have her out of that place. It’s sad I have yet to come to resolution with what happened in our situation and they really could care less. It breaks my heart to see this and I pray they do not let this owner and store operate any further.

I don't understand how they remain in business. I ran a grooming shop in Florida, that occasionally housed dogs and other animals for adoption. Including ensuring sterilization and any required vaccinations. I made a mistake in judgment once and took in a litter of kittens with runny eyes, thinking antibiotics I had on hand would help. They were contagious, and even tho I kept them in quarantine as best I knew how in a travel kennel in the bathing room, it spread to another cat that resided in the shop, then ro another's pet cat in for grooming. I almost got shut down, and I stopped taking in animals to find homes. This all happened in less then 2 weeks.
How can they purposely do these things in FL and get away with it!

There is a petland where I live and they found frozen puppies. They shut it down and was bought out by some other organization, it went trough a completely new transformation of staff and environment. It looks better than ever now. It smells super clean, it’s well organized and the puppies seem completely healthy. And don’t forget, every petland is privately owned so each store will be different

one time i went to petland (before i knew everything going on about it) there was this tiny little bulldog puppy so of course i wanted to play with the pup for a little. my parents asked the lady to get the dog out and she did. she basically threw the dog onto the floor, then about 5 minutes later the puppy threw up on me because he was sick. the lady didnt even tell us that he was sick-
Petland is god awful. The human society posted a video about them and it’s all true. My boyfriend and I bought a cute 10 week old golden doodle from Petland not knowing about Petland as we are new to Texas and wanted this breed. Sadly, three days into living with us she started sneezing which we thought was just allergies so we didn’t think much of it. The next day she started having a really snotty nose, again didn’t think anything of it. Day five comes around and she starts coughing, panting and sniffling insanely, horrible smelling runny poop, not wanting to play, run, eat or even sit, she just went straight from standing to plopping down on her belly and when we put her in her crate the last few nights she wouldn’t claw the crate, bark or even whine like she usually did. we made a vet appointment with the vet that works/is sponsored by Petland at FAMILY PET CENTER in Frisco (since petland only covers their first few visits) the only option was the next two days so later that day we took her to the Collin county emergency pet center to see what was wrong and fix it. She ended up with a case of really horrible pneumonia, The vet said he didn’t know if treatment would work on her since she had such a bad case and she was so little so we decided to put her down to put her out of her misery. there is undercover cases at petland, all the animals they have are neglected of vet care when shown signs of sickness and petland falsifies shot records. I don’t understand how they are in business, they need to be stopped!! We are glad we got to make her happy, bringing her home and showing her love instead of being not conformed in that horrible place we got her out of. I went there a week after she passed away to tell petland and the workers didn’t seem surprised at all when I said my puppy that I got from them was sick and passed away. We happened to come on a day when the sponsored vet they have was checking the new puppies and I watched them through the glass (I didn’t see any throwing, probably because it was open hours) but the vet gave them a quick glance to look over them and then listened to only their hearts for 5 seconds and handed them back and off to the next one. The littlest/newest ones I believe are not sick but they only get checked that one time regardless of signs of sickness so they all get sick due to being picked up by staff then they go to pick up a new one and switch them to different waiting pens. Since I was there I did check out the other puppies and they were all sick, had snotty noses, struggling to breath/mouth breathing, laying flat on their bellies or sides just watching you walk by and lots of coughing
I have done everything I possibly could do to help get the story out there so pet stores like this could be shut down. I’ve emailed news channels, humane society, frisco city council and the chamber of commerance. The news has not taken my story. The humane society emailed me back and the chamber of commerce emailed me back stating that the Frisco pd and city council are closing monitoring the situation. Hopefully pet store come to an end soon
