I was really impressed when you offered to help people individually with their color options. I don’t know any other youtubers who would do something like that. It’s such a kind and generous thing to do.
It’s my absolute pleasure. I want people to paint and sometimes they may not have that colour and everyone can join in 😀
Totally agree
Agreed !00%!!!
Thank you so much for making this wonderful tutorial and sharing it on UA-cam. I’m recently disabled from a spinal injury and now on a very tiny fixed income. Your free lessons are a true gift for me. I can get lost in painting and forget about the world while I paint along. ❤️
I’m so sorry to hear about your injury but glad you are finding a little pleasure in the tutorials xxx
@BaldwinLeatherWorks I am so sorry about your injury. I also have a spinal injury though mine is old and they rebuilt what was left with lots of metal....then other things come along....and I am absolutely with you on being able to lose yourself in art!! And being SO thankful for people like Helen that give such beautiful instruction for the days I'm able to do things, and such awesome inspiration in these videos that keep me going through the days that aren't so good...keeps me excited and always looking forward to those moments when I can try some of these :) I hope you're feeling ok, as ok as possible of course! And are able to play with your paints as often as you can...they definitely make things better :)
Sorry for gong through hard time, huge changes in life..Painting is best kind a therapy for soul...
Today there are Many life changing therapies that may help you recover mobility and heal. Some time ago red about guy who was paralysed from neck down for over decade,he was given some kind a stem cell therapy, injections in spinal cord and he not just started to feel body but is recovering, after more than decade in bed Ofcourse recovery will take years and maybe he never will be the same as he was before, but still, from laying down all the time,he’s doing loads of physio therapies and was standin g up,holding his body weight on arms and relearning to walk..Well,just wish you all the best and hope one day you’ll be back on you’re 🐾 Please stay strong and don’t lose hope ever and just keep painting meanwhile, learn, enjoy and may it become you’re income booster. 💐
@@ligaskirbauska8652 thank you so much for your sweet words :)
I'm very thankful that I'm not constantly stuck laying down....I just don't always have the ability to be up enough to stand too much and the nerves in my neck are getting crushed so losing use of my arms and hands...but, finally insurance approved a difficult surgery to remove arthritis and scar tissue build up, a rib and several muscles that are hopefully part of the cause and I'll hopefully get a bit better use...a lot can go wrong with it so trying my right side first...if it helps, awesome, and I'll try to get insurance to cover the left side...gotta love insurance 🙄, and if it doesn't help, then I won't, and I'll just learn new ways to get things done and try to paint when I can and yes, it would be wonderful to one day maybe sell something, cards or something, even to just pay for a tube of paint here or there so my sweet husband doesn't have to, because he will even though I know we can't afford it...because he knows what art does for me :) but, if not, thats ok too...I've had people ask to buy sets of them, but I get embarrassed and just give them to them...and that makes me happy too, making people happy...so, either way, it all works out :)
My lower half is as good as I'll get it...but...its all ok!! I absolutely know it could be so much worse, I lost a dear friend in the accident that started all this off over 30yrs ago, hence the ptsd, well, that part of of the cause became it was real bad...but...anyway....I just meant that I know there are so many that have things SO much worse so I'm sorry if I sounded like a baby :/ I lost my little parrot of 25yrs last weekend so a bit raw....but I'm very thankful for what I do have and so thankful for being able to watch and learn on here and meet amazing people like you :)
I hope you are doing ok and have a wonderful rest of the weekend!!
Thank you again for your kind words!! Truly appreciated!!🥰
This channel is a WEALTH of knowledge, and helps to make days where we only have a few spoons brighter and more playful.
I LOVE how you always encourage people to use what they have so that, if they wanted to, they could sit down right then and paint with you!
Thank you very much x
loved the tip of a "little puddle of water" in your pallet - makes so much sense!
Thank you 😊
Thank you Helen for your great feedback! I could watch you paint for hours. 😍 We really are thrilled to have you as a true fan of our supplies. :) For anyone reading, we are a very young brand founded by an artist and focusing on making art accessible through affordable quality products and educational content. You have to be one of the kindest UA-cam creators doing watercolor tutorials. I appreciate you so much! I know others do as well. I haven’t signed up with anyone to join patreon but I think that might change. I love the way you teach. Thank you for sharing your talent. ❤ love from Texas
Thank you so much for your kind words x
Really high caliber tutorial ! I often use these techniques. Lovely music too ❤️
Aww thank you 😊
My results were 99.9%similar oh my God!!!! You truly brought up my confidence!! Subbed to your channel 🥰
Wow. Thank you
@@helencampbell so sweet of you to reply 🥺❣️
That colour palette though!!! I LOVE it so much!! Well done Helen, you always impress me!!! 👏👏👏❤️❤️👏🤗🤗👍👍
I love the colours. Thank you so much Dr Bee 😀😘
This is so strange to find somebody who also uses and appreciates Mungyo watercolours. Here they are not considered to be 'real watercolours' but they are some of my favourite paints.
They are amazing. A student of mine recommended them. They are wonderful
WOW - this watercolour painting just "pops' off the page - wonderful warm commentary full of really friendly helpful advice - nothing less than fantastic tutorial - thank you Helen
Thank you very much 😀🌸
Tysm! This truly inspired me. All the other videos I’ve watched haven’t really been inspiring and it’s just a timelapse, but with you I really felt like I could understand everything. Amazing art! ❤️❤️
Aww thank you 😊
I like the way You tell people to just use what they have if they don’t have what you have. This was very important to me because I used to feel like I couldn’t do something because I didn’t have exactly what I needed.
Thank you. Yes it’s important to use what you already have. Quiet apart from the expense of buying new, it gets you used to adapting the colours you have and helps get to know how they react xx
Thank you, Helen. I have been unmotivated for close to a year now. This video was so nice that I decided to attempt it. I even purchased the brushes on Amazon... as if I needed more brushes. Thank you again so another wonderful tutorial.
Thank you Lori. Have you joined our Facebook group?
Helen, you do a great job
Thank you
Definitely subbing. Been practicing at it for a year and often feel like I’m making no progress, so much that I branched out to other mediums that I am doing well at, I ADORE oil pastels to a point that I didn’t think I would 😂 but watercolor is something I want to master.
Thank you. Hopefully you’ll find these tutorials helpful. Have you joined our Facebook group?
This was absolutely riveting. So beautiful thank you so much for showing how we can do this. I love all your tutorials and this was stunning.
Thank you so much x
I just subscribed, and am excited about what I’ve seen so far. I’m new to watercolor and love it so much! Your paintings are beautiful, and I actually understand what you’re showing and saying. Thank you
Thank you very much
Zen brushes have been around a long time. I have two I found in my dad's paintbox after he passed away. I reach for them often. They are over 20 years old. Unfortunately I didn't start learning to paint until I was 60. Now I want to live as log as possible just to learn more about painting and progress as much as I can. Maybe 30 more years would be better.😉😍
It’s a lovely thing to learn. Jump in and have fun with it. We have lots of tutorials here on our channel 😀😘
What a beautiful work of art … layering is really the key to well contrasted watercolors and you master it !!! Thanks for sharing it with us 🙏🏻🙏🏻💕
Thank you Chantal. My pleasure
How wonderful! I learned so much 😊
Thank you 🌸🥰
Excellent tutorial! After watching your tutorial I am looking forward to try and paint again using water colour. The last time I used water colour is 17 years ago and the water colour was a student version.
Thank you. I’m so glad you found it useful x
Fantastic teacher 👍
Thank you! 😃
Gracias por enseñarnos, Bendiciones
This was so inspiring! This is the first watercolor tutorial I’ve watched on UA-cam that showed the process in this way. Makes complete sense now. I joined your Patreon and am excited to start learning more! Thank you for taking the time to create such valuable content!
Thank you very much for your lovely words and for joining Patreon xx

This is one of my favorite paintings you've created lately. It's so beautiful and I've really enjoyed seeing everyone who has posted on the Facebook group who has tried this painting. The results have been stunning. I just watched through, hopefully I can find time to make an attempt at this one soon!
Thank you so much 😊
What a blessing you are to us all. Thank you for sharing your amazing gift. xx
Thank you Jodi x
This truly is gorgeous!! The veins make it perfect! Give it beautiful movement, especially that center, more purple one..just beautiful!!
Thank you very much. Hope you are well x
@@helencampbell thank you :) you as well!!!🥰
Helen, thank you. Serious watercolur, painting indeed. Watching each brush stroke for the veins made this botanical painting sing. Building up paint slowly, is what I need to work on.
Thank you Annie x
🎉🎉🎉 thank u for a cool step by step video, thank u
My pleasure. Glad you like it
Very impressive I am watching and now I'll try out
Thank you
This video has given me an enormous amount of inspiration. I only began watercolour a few months ago and have been looking at countless beginner classes. Learning all thee basic techniques has, of course, been absolutely critical, but those tutorials focus very often on quite broad subjects (skies, leaves, abstracts) in two-to-three colours. This video of yours, with all of the beautiful details and colours, made me realise that those introductory classes left me in one 'stuck' place. Since watching this video, I've decided to tackle my first detailed subject with more nuanced colouring. (I've started work on a dodo!) So this video has really lifted me out of those crucial but (for me) pretty boring basics - thank you so much.
Hi Nathan. Thank you so much. My mission is to make art accessible to everyone. I have over 100 other tutorials as well as new videos every Tuesday so you may want to subscribe so that you don’t miss any. Once again, thank you for your kind comments
Pretty botanical leaves with such softness of colors. Looks like fun to do. Thanking you
Thank you very much
This is just beautiful. First time I've watched your channel. It is mesmerizing to watch you paint, and I love the subject! Look forward to watching more.
Thank you Janina. I appreciate your kind words
You are truly a genius. Thank you so much for the tutorial and all the tips. ❤️
Thank you very much
Thank you so much. I will certainly try this ❤
My pleasure. X
Totally unrelated to the topic but I couldn’t help noticing your ring (the big one) 😍 I love it! Oh, amazing video as well 👌⭐️
Thank you. I bought it in a little shop in Spain x
This is a tremendously helpful video. Your generous spirit is sincerely appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you Jane
I would like to see you paint some spring flowers; daffodils, snowdrops, grape hyacinths, poppies. Thank you for the video.
Thank you. We do have snowdrops. Here’s the link

This was very inspirational to watch. I'm always amazed by the layering process that you teach so well, the sense of realism that comes thru in the completed piece. And the fine details.....perfection! I so enjoy watching your tutorials and seeing you create such lovely art. I feel like my hands are not steady enough for the fine lining but will continue to try. A great start to my day. Thank you Rae!
Thank you Trina. What a lovely kind words. It means a lot to me that people take the time to comment. Thank you so much X

Really pretty painting of maple tree helicopter seeds!
Thank you. Glad you liked it
I’m very new to your channel and I’m having fun binge watching your wonderful tutorials. I appreciate your teaching style and generosity in sharing your knowledge and talent with all of us. Thank you 🙏 😊
That’s very kind of you. Thank you very much 🌸
This would be so pretty for tone on tone values on a card set, black brown, grey and full colored and you have an awesome giftset. If you like it slightly more modern or your paper won't hold the layering you can always use a micron pen for waterproof outline. This is great fun for practise, I will have me a go at it. It is a great one for clean and simple winter thank you's.
Thank you. Great idea
GORGEOUS, I love Botanical Art, the color palette you used and your voice and accent are so calming!❤️❤️❤️🥰
Thank you Aida 😀
Just found you and I am thrilled. I've been in a rut. Detailed/realistic botanicals are my love but I'm having a hard time finding tutorials. I will definitely be joining your Patreon and the Facebook channel.

Thank you very much
Helen, that is absolutely gorgeous! It has a stained-glass quality, but also natural. I'm new at botanical drawing and painting and will try something like this. I like how you talk about wet and dry paint and paper at different points. Very helpful, thank you.
Thank you x
So glad you used Mungyo paints because they're what I own and I always feel a bit selfconscious because they're not Daniel Smith, Schmincke or whatever expensive paints are out there 😊. I also like the simplicity of your little palette dish. Lovely work 😍
Thank you very much. You really don’t have to buy fancy paints to enjoy painting because these ones work just as well. X
Got here via Ingrid Blackburn new subbie straight away 😊

New to your channel, I'm so glad I found you this painting is so stunning these colors speak to me they are by far my favorite, I wish they would make a pallet with just these colors thank you for telling all the colors you use.
Thank you very much
Having decided to revisit working with watercolor, I came across your wonderful videos. You are inspiring and I love your works. I am excited to pull out my paints, but have ordered a set of brushes from Zen Art and can hardly wait to get them. For someone with mild arthritis as well as a tremor, these brushes may offer better control with small lines. Thank you so much!

The little puddle of water thing is brilliant. I don't have perm. violent but I do have dioxazine violet from Windsor Newton. I have sap green which I could probably tone down with a little payne's grey maybe?
Hi Kat. Yes absolutely but use a tiny bit of any black not Payne’s grey. It may be too bluey
That was amazing, thank you for sharing! Definitely learned a lot.

Hi Helen! I found your channel today when I was looking at other artist's channels to get ideas for my own channel that I'm creating. I liked your channel so much I subscribed. Well done! I'm still in the process of learning how to create and edit videos, and given what I've learned so far, I appreciate your editing lol. I enjoyed watching you paint in this video, so now I want to get out my water colors and paint. :) Thank you for the inspiration! If you are curious, my channel will be focused on soft pastel painting. Interestingly, I'll be using my watercolors quite a bit to do underpaintings with. Again thank you for sharing your wonderful art with us. I look forward to visiting you again and watching you paint. Cheers!
Thank you for your comments. I’m so glad that you enjoyed the videos and you are finding inspiration. The thing is with UA-cam it’s so time-consuming but don’t let that put you off because it’s very rewarding. Just jump in and you learn the editing as you go along.xx
@@helencampbell Thank you Helen! I have been wanting to do a channel for years, but I never got started because the production of it was too intimidating. I finally realized I am going to need to learn as I go...much like I have with art my whole life. :) I also realized I need to remember to paint hah. I've been so nose deep in production learning mode, I've not left much time to create! Time management was never my strong suit, but I think it's about to be. I am excited to be part of the artist community here on UA-cam and so glad I found your channel!
@@gigiartstudiowithartistvir3919 lol I’m the same. It took me a long time to learn editing etc
